@snappertjuh Long guns. As long as States have the same laws which isn't true. In Ohio we don't have a waiting period like some states. We can walk in pick out a firearm, go through the background check, pay and leave with the firearm. Same thing goes for pistols once you are 21.

@snappertjuh You can rent guns at most ranges. You can not buy a firearm here in the US unless you are a resident which is part of the background check. You may be able to rent firearms as long as you have a valid Identification showing your age. But if it isn't a State issued license or ID I don't know how many ranges would allow it.

@snappertjuh I think vtecrkp1 is right about renting while you're in the States. At the very least, a friend can rent it for you. Only one person has the pay for renting the gun and a couple of people can share a lane on the range. My mom took me shooting when I was a kid and she rented pistols for me to shoot.

@mcca99 Google is your best friend, laws are different in all 50 states.  You do need a license though so as long as you are not a felon we Americans have the right tobuy these items. Not for long with Obummer in office though.

Wow, I just purchased a saiga 308. It's something to think about the price. On one of my multiple deployments I've been on we had the task of cutting up the enemies AK-47 rifles and burying the parts with our cutting torch. Alot of money buried in the sand over their.

@idigitalianstuff Nope, you can get rifles and shotguns, albeit there are extremely strict restrictions on stock size, amount of ammo you can keep in your home etc. You need a shotgun licence for shotguns which you can get simply for the reason of clay pigeon / sport shooting but for rifles / handguns etc you need a firearms licence and you need to have permission to shoot on a few areas of land to be able to own one. Handguns are a tricky subject, i know deer stalkers can get them issued.
