  • happy bday brian

  • Looking at how much fun he seems to be having here it's hard to believe that Brian was a dick (to paraphrase the Jagger and Richards)

  • @Ryan0253 he became a dick over time. He couldn't handle that Jagger/Richards became brilliant songwriters and that he was not the center of attention.

  • Great quality video; but another lip-synch "performance"

  • @writer62951 lip-synch my ass. Played live, bozo.

  • great live renderingh in excellent quality

  • That has to be the ugliest audience i've ever seen

  • @CHAVVYDINGDONG Ugly or not...they were the fans that went out and bought the records..that made the money.....and the fame.....etc

  • Some are bitches

  • the best stones sixties 100% very gooddddddddddddddd

  • great video. Brian play 2 harmonicas..

  • look at bills legs... he looks like jack skelington...

  • For a moment there I thought Mick was going to sing Hand Jive! lol

  • Love to see Brian on this one...without that Harmonica it would still sound good but Brian added that something that made them GREAT!!

  • The Stones at their very best !!!!

  • love those harmonica riffs by Brian

  • @CaliforniaModern ( Bo Diddly )

  • @minnesotajack The so-called Bo Diddley riff was being played years before he made a record, by rockabilly bands and Elroy James among others.

  • @PrettiestDogEver Who is Elroy James?

  • Keith -- the epitome of the young English Rocker of his day. King tone, baby! Thank you, Buddy Holly!

  • @CaliforniaModern you bettcha!

  • WERE THE SAME TIME!

  • Brian Jones is the MAN!

  • Watching this video I get the oddest feeling that the Stones didn't really belong in this era but, rather, more in the future. I mean, look at those women! :) Straight out from the 50's, though this was recorded in the mid-60's. I mean, if Mick, or any of them, walked down the street today looking like that, well, they'd fit in nicely. I think it goes deeper than mere appearance too.

  • @lazurm 1964

  • Bill Wyman hold the bass like a sitar:)

  • Go Brian Go1

  • PAS BELLE la vie en sixties ,the best stones !!! rebel68

  • All those bitches gagging for prime British beef.

  • WOW - not lip-synched!

  • Like the way Richards constantly switched pickups during his solo. Brian Jones yeah!

  • The stones took a pretty good song and made it awesome/perfect. ( :

  • After this preformance, the interviewer said, "Well I can see that your hair is very long, what have your barbers been doing?" Brian Jones responded "Starving."

  • Brian Jones played a pretty good harp, this is an excellent version of the old Buddy holly classic

  • wow what a performance!..how sad Brian Jones had to die,he added so much.. :(

  • Brian is awesome he can realy play great Harmonica he's got 2 Harmonics wow cool.

  • @SUNNYRHOADES9 That second harmonica was for Brians second band he was a member of that totally hip group of old the HarmoniCats!

  • What Brian Jones lacks in neck, he makes up for in harp playing.

  • Great fucking harp! B.J. was a blues purist man. I just finished Keith Richards autobiography called "Life". A must read for any "Stoner"

  • LOL

  • @07cnorton No. He just played harmonica, guitar, slide guitar, marimbas, piano, sitar...

  • @PrettiestDogEver hahahah true! He was absolutely amazing, oh and you can't forget that legendary Ruby Tuesday recorder! Ahhh and I love him in this video, just can get a real feel of the fun, quirky yet charming personality of his, that "side" of him as Keef tells in in Life. But yeah Brain was just incredible, and his death an absolute tragedy. <3

  • @PrettiestDogEver also beat women. Brian jones is an overrated wet nob. the rest of the stones is where its at.

  • @PrettiestDogEver Brian was the best. These songs are the best the Stones ever did. Much of what they did after Brian was hit or miss, with LOTS of misses.

  • @ThomasFMPayne V I agree.

  • @07cnorton good he was amazing ,what are you on ?

  • Mick's voice is actually pretty accurate here. I expected him to put his drawling take on it (wouldn't necessarily have been a bad thing) but he did it great. The harmonica is pretty awesome as well.

  • @hazuinf Shut up you little bastard and get a life.

  • @RockmusicLol Shit I'm sorry i wrote to wrong person...Sorry! -.-

  • @RockmusicLol That's fine, I was just a bit confused hehe

  • @hazuinf Hehe. x)

  • @bloderme I'know.But.... Buddy Holly was a Bo Didley fan.

  • I'm 16 and I'm so in love with Brian and Mick it's not even funny

  • @thestoneswithjones hahahaha

  • @Carthsting okay then

  • @thestoneswithjones I'm not laughing, however you have the age of 21 on your channel.

  • No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.

If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.

  • @63Mastermind typical scribbler-on-walls , only reason you are posting here is because a lot of people pass through and admire REAL talent .

Want lots of people to notice you ? go drop your pants outside tesco's then , thats about your talent limit . Wanker .

  • haha- gotta love the hat 0:55

  • One of my older relatives friend told me she saw the Stones during this era and she was totally in love with Brian...she had posters all over her bedroom wall of just his face

  • Keith Richards shoes... Looks like my new boots. Loving.

  • Brilliant ....

    The Stones Forever.

  • Brian Jones and Keith Richards are the BEST

  • beautiful footage, wonderful song. thanks for posting.rip brian jones.

  • Bo Diddley total.

  • @macanurom Not Fade Away was a Buddy Holly song

  • STELLAR quality! Thanks for sharing! One of the 100 greatest pop/rock songs ever written.

  • no band has ever come close to the stones

  • Comment removed

  • this song is like a bo diddley

  • Comment removed

  • The Rolling Stones Forever !!

  • Wow, there's a lot of babes in the audience.

  • @guyNbluejeans imagine how old are they this time... hehehehe

  • @cindieco It don't matter what they look like today, as we're all just little flower of one variety or another waiting for The Good Lord to take us away.:-)

  • Brian Jones was the leader of the group.

  • Sounds totally live but someone needs to turn up Keith's guitar. Fantastic riff. In '64 they were really more notorious than famous. It took Satisfaction the next year to really push them to the top.

  • I mean, come on, is no one mentioning BUDDY HOLLY? His version is GREAT. (He WROTE it after all) Great tribute. An early , loud, and yes, Rocking one... They got the beat (thank you charlie! ) ... and the enthusiasm.

  • Shit, i'd cry too if i got to see the rolling stones live.

  • I think this is from the Mike Douglas Show on ABC. They KILLED on that Show

  • those bitches are all fucking wet

  • @A919k so are the girls today watching this lol

  • @A919k Back then, a janitor at a theater the Stones just played at came backstage and told them "Congradulations gents, there ain't a dry seat in the house!"

  • @RighteousWilly I think he meant the girls peed themselves.

  • @zazozung That was the big joke about Stones concerts, the girls would be so excited

that they peed themselves. Sexuality was quite repressed back then,

especially with middle-class white girls. You didn't see men flaunt such

flamboyant sexuality back then. You see the girls reaction to these wild

creatures from England; the boys these girls knew probably were

button-down, crew-cut types of the early sixties America.

  • @A919k Why do you call girls bitches? Does it make you seem cool or tough to other guys? It seems a bit childish to me.

  • @lewars1912 just the way we talk man relax daddio its harmless. this is rock n roll

  • Comment removed

  • @lewars1912 because he's right. They are bitches and they probably were all wet

  • @genericgeorge "They are bitches" are they. Do you have a mother? A sister? If you do do you also call them bitches? Grow up! All this sexist shit is a load of childish nonsense.

  • @lewars1912 In Mick Jaggers words

But there is one thing I could never understand

Some of the sick things that a girl does to a man.

Hey are going to argue with him??

You sound like a young naive softcock. You will learn :)

  • @genericgeorge Jagger was young and relatively immature then, and hopefully he's now jumped off the fence and has a healthier attitude towards the opposite sex. One can find good and bad in both sexes. I'm much older than you, lol. I'm only about four years younger than Jagger.

  • @lewars1912 Given his track record he hasn't treated them with too much respect since. Loyalty to women doesn't come into his equation. The feminazi bitches rule the media.

  • @genericgeorge The feminazi don't rule the media, lol. It's rich men who rule the media.

  • @lewars1912 Every week we hear about womens issues, womens body image, equal pay etc. I never hear about mens issues for eg. Guys copping a screwing in the legal system in child custody cases who 90 % of the time favour the woman. Women if they choose, can choose if their kids never see their father and the courts do NOTHING to enforce . How often do you hear about that? Millionaire businessmen rule? Bullshit. Bitches with balls choose everything that gets media airtime now.

  • Comment removed

  • @lewars1912 Are you a Eunuch?

  • @genericgeorge No, I still have my balls and I hope you do too. I think you have a problem with your attitude towards women. You are an adult and yet you call women bitches. (:o( If it wasn't for women none of us would be here and they go through all this pain and inconvenience to bring us into this world. I do agree with you however regarding these child custody decisions which are grossly unfair. There's a father's rights movement here in the UK fighting against this.

  • @lewars1912 A bit late for that. The damage has been done and it will take generations and shitfight to remedy this. This is the dark side of feminism and men have been effectively muzzled by the media. Which pretty much what women do in a relationship right? Bet you balls they won't give anything up for us like we did for them. It will get ugly.

  • @lewars1912 Why did it get to this stage? Feminism. Another word for female chauvinism. Equal rights my ass. It's about more rights and using it to discriminate without recrimination. And it's worked a treat. And they have you in their corner if anyone dare even call them a 'bitch'. Aren't all men bastards? Any public shaming for women who say that or demonstrate that? Nope, it's high fived and applauded. Your country is fucked and we follow you which is why I'm worried.

  • @lewars1912 lighten up, bitch

  • @welcome2myhell You think I'm a female, lol. Away back to your hole, or your hell and keep away from those sheep. The farmer has warned you several times about this. They don't fancy you.

  • @A919k Yes, why do you call those girls what you did? What kind of a person are you? Never mind, I think I know.

To SixtiesPopGold: Thanks for sharing - wonderful vid from a golden pop - era

  • @MabelAmber he didnt mean nothing by it, jusy how we talk these days. just like those girls freaking out their folks coming home and blasting "fade away" on the record player and saying stuff like "im gonna crash" and lets get stoned!

  • @MrCagekicker

I know that that is the way many "we" talk these days - but that doesn't make it nice talk. It conveys an agressive message - everybody is complaining about all the agression and violence today among people, young and old - did you know that words can arouse agression and violence? The way a person says things is of more consequence than he may care to know.

    Thank you for responding.

  • @MabelAmber Well said.

  • @lewars1912 uptight

  • @lewars1912

Thank you - rock&roll is great btw

  • @MabelAmber I like a lot of rock music, and also classical. It's mostly classical that I have on my channel.

  • @lewars1912

So do I - like classical music - well, I have a broad preference - there is so much fantastic music in every age and in every decennium to enjoy - you know, I sometimes think of Afghanistan where people are not allowed to listen to music - man, I think I would die if I were cut off from my music --

  • @A919k

    Hi Keith!

  • This was one of the Stone's first hits- There's a shot of girls in the audience holding the lp at 1:00 . Brian Jones looks a lot like Keith Relf of the Yardbirds, I think Keith may have modeled his stage prescence from Brian.

  • Can I have the amplifiers?

  • Those where the times when girls actually liked good music. Maybe they didn't have much options, but still counts. Fuck yea!

  • Cool.

  • not fade away buddy thanx you rock

  • Brian Jones was my favorite one of the Stones. I cried a very long time when he died. I love their earlier music much better than their latter.

  • @joyhaydon de acuerdocontigo BRIAN JONES era el mejor stones RIP

  • @joyhaydon In the book A. E. Hotchner did about the Rolling Stones, he called Brian Jones "the only musician of any consequence" in the band. He could play any instrument well, could write music as he did for the Volker Schlondorff movie, "Mord Und Totshlag" A Degree of Murder, was interested in the music of Morrocco. He started the Stones, As Bill Wyman points out in his book "Stone Alone", there would have been no band without Brian Jones. I never listened to the Stones after Brian died.

  • @joyhaydon By all accounts he was a very nasty piece of work though

  • @joyhaydon I agree about their music.

  • This song is as good as the original version from Bo Diddley...

  • @xneblinax The song is a Buddy Holly song. From the Chriping Crickets album, which was released on October 27, 1957.

  • As the Stones once named one of there LP's..."Liver than you'll ever be".

  • @PrivateAckbar Nope, you have good taste. It just so happens that the music in question is being played by a band that had three (some would say four) extremely attractive men.

That being said: oh, Brian <3

  • @terrapinlovesyou I think there's something to the music too, like some music gets those feel good chemicals going and those chemicals make the music better which makes you feel better releasing more endorphins & so it can get on & who knows how many other exhilarating sensations in synchronicity & before you know it like magic - whew! ok that's my 2 cents. I need a smoke now.

  • @terrapinlovesyou Charlie is darling! Bill is attractive as well just not as close as the others

  • Brian Jones was the soul of this band. The Stones went Hollywood when they lost him.

  • brian jones is the man .

  • Mike Douglas wrote in his memoir that he didn't really like The Rolling Stones (at least when the band appeared on his program, as shown here, in 1964).

But at least, unlike Dean Martin hosting "The Hollywood Palace" (another of the Stones' earliests American TV appearances), Douglas had the class to be polite with the Stones.

Martin ridiculed the band members' long hair, claimed a trampoline act on the show was the parent of a Rolling Stone having fits, jumping up & down, etc.

  • Not Fade Away - the first Stones record I ever bought, back in 1964. I saw them the same year, in Bournemouth where I lived - the original band with Brian Jones on a pale green VOX guitar and harmonica. They played Not Fade Away as I remember...and I still have the record! Stones will never fade away for me....a fan till I die.

  • god mick is sexy

  • 0:35 --the "Bieber Fever" of 1964

  • Grandes es la admiración que siento por Brian Jones :(

  • I prefer the florence and the machine version better ;p

  • Songs that Remind me of my Dad xx

  • The stones do Buddy Holly... and not too shabbily either!

  • @annyid8 Correct. And the only, other music act (besides the Stones, here) that may do Buddy Holly as well as or better than Holly is Linda Ronstadt. Her versions of "That'll Be The Day," and "It's So Easy" are spectacular, almost as if totally new songs.

Ronstadt (and producer Peter Asher) did a similar, superior job with recording of The Everly Brothers' "When Will I Be Loved," taking a pretty, but slow tempo number and kicking some life into it!

  • I think this video is when Tina Turner said ; "That's it, I'm teachin this white boy how to dance". Hehehe, look it up it's true, Tina did teach Jagger how to move like Jagger.

  • Haha, I would have loved to dance with Brian.

  • 5 people faded away

  • Ahh back when chicks dug the rock n roll. Now it's all Pop and Rap 

  • this early 60's audiences were a fucking disgrace. Why the fuck would you scream and cry to your favorite band. Singing along and cheering from time to time is fine but what the hell. These teeny girls were all about the looks and the hype they didn't care much about the music this great band made. Same with the Beatles and Elvis.

  • brian jones is working two harps. talent.

  • the seats in the audience were wired to give shocks when the harmonica hit certain notes

  • haha crazy girls haven't changed much

  • @jiffinbigles yeah they still love musicians with tons of money.

  • this a really good cover off a buddy holly song and i like Brian Jones trick there

  • A local Mike Douglas live show with very LIVE performance of NOT FADE AWAY done superbly by the Stones in June 1964...I just wish their Les Crane show appearance on WABC-TV local NYC channel existed on kinescope. The Stones performance here and also live on Hollywood Palace is fantastic, and super considering their age and newness. Stones at their best.

  • Omg If I was there I would totally be the loudest screaming for Brian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • briaaaaaaaaan

  • I'm gonna tell you how it's gonna be

    you're gonna give your love to me♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ ♭

  • @sagaza91 that's a nice way of saying I'm going to rape you XD

  • It's weird when you see girls crying to music that I think is good. I don't know if they were just enamoured with what they thought the band was, or if they had good taste in music, or if I have bad taste in music.

  • @PrivateAckbar I agree, I think the Stones were doing something wrong at that point in their career. It actually was the last thing they wanted.

  • HOW CAN THIS SOUND THID GOOD?

  • Buddy Holly would be proud of this version, I love the Stones

  • @22LEHR Wha? How 'bout the original/singer/songwriter etc., Bo Diddley?
