Met Dragon at the Day on the green concert, although Mark is no longer with us they have a new lead singer who is doing a great job.
Todd [Marks brother] really has that infectious happy smile he has in this film clip, one of lifes true gentlemen.Love the band and their magnificent contribution to Aussie music.
This truly reminds me of the Young Years - and the trouble-free fun lifestyle that was the mid to late 80's! When this song was released, I was 15 and now at 38 I have a lot more appreciation for it than I did then.
Nice to hear Dragon and Marc Hunter with that melodic saxophone intro and crisp guitars. I'm from the U.S. and I always thought this band and MEO245 were spectacular Down Under bands and there were many. Dragon had -- real nice arrangements, great rock vocals, and just an overall sound that was refreshing. As far as I'm concerned Hunter is up there with the best rock vocalists -- screw the R&R Hall of Fame -- I know he belongs there and that's all that matters.
They look like musicians who enjoy what they do, making music. To the musicians of today, its make music, not sell it, but sadly its all about the "bling".
@assortedcorpses, spot on where is the music going now? clowns like beiber and gaga, what a fuckin joke, let me know when u build that time machine back to the 80s , Im first on board!!!!!!!!!!
Feel the power of the emotions, feelings & meaningful expressions that these guys put into their music of that special era, this song is by far in by understanding a "timeless classic",the stuff iconic legends are made of :-)
@Rockspiderstopper Excellent history RSS thanks mate for clearing that up for me. Have you checked out Th' Dudes - Be Mine Tonight? Dav Dob at his best. Have a great weekend bro!
@Rockspiderstopper Hey mate just found a new one by Dave Dobyn...well we all get old I suppose but it is a well crafted mellow piece of music for a guy that has paid his dues...play it twice the true melody comes out..IMO it's a high class...
Two very talented Brothers. Todd the master songsmith, Marc the charisma. Todd could sing just as well as his little brother, it would have been great to see him front the band.... but I can understand not wanting to do it. RIP Marc, you were an awesome performer and you are sadly missed.
My favourite dragon song. It came out when I was a young fella. Now I'm almost 40 and looking back on my own young years I can really appreciate it's poignancy.
My brother bought me Bondi Road album one year for Christimas, at first I was a bit disappointed until I played it and fell in love with it and it's still in my record collection today !!!!
A 57 yo bloke having a quiet blub is not a good look.
But sometimes I just can't help myself.
Bless you Todd and miss you Marc......despite the tears I have such happy memories. Would love to see the current lineup, but not much chance of that as I'm livin in the sticks.
I may be the most obtuse bitch on the planet; but, was this a celebration of earlier, better times? I loved this song when it first came out; but the footage of Marc and Todd on the hillside. /bawl.
God I love this song, growing up in Oz, the 40 min drive to work in Melbourne was always better with Kiwi and Aussie music. Haven't been back for 3 years now - I miss home... RIP Marc Hunter
Fabulous comments below! I really enjoyed reading them. Without sounding morbid - I think this would be nice at my funeral because the words are beautiful and the melody too. Marc's infectious charm & joyfulness is in abundance in this video. It makes me want to visit NZ lol.
Saw Dragon Christmas eve 1987 in Newcastle. Great show. Obviously it was before this song. But this would be their best song. Takes you back. Sitting here, 20 years later, wondering where it went. They say youth is wasted on the young. Maybe, maybe not, but its a shame we don't get music like this any more.
i'll go out on a limb and say that this is one of dragon's best songs imho along with off the top of my head rain, are you old enough, wilderworld, magic, get that jive.
I think I saw Dragon live early to mid 90s. They were awesome. Soon after Marc Hunter died of throat cancer. One ofthe best concerts I have ever seen and this song was their encore performance! Great band, awesome music!
Great to see the original clips of the Kiwi formed band. Now I can finally put the faces together. I just seen the reformed Dragon in June on it's NZ tour. Mark WIlliams does remarably well as the replacement lead singer.
I left Australia in 1989, I had never heard this untill now, first to view and comment as well. I am guessing this would have been one of Dragons last hits ???? Thanks for the upload, Dragon was a great band, especially live.
@breakfree74 I guess so, I loved this song when it came out but was too young to follow the charts properly. The popularity proves what a classic it is...
so many memorys with this song,,we all have them,,our teenage years,,,,long live the 80's as im sure many from their own era will say,,
