Audacity would just record the audio. It wouldnt play any sounds that you here through the software synth. You could set it up to record your speakers though to record the sound coming out of the program when you play the midi controller. Its up you though. As far as using audacity to hook up a midi controller too, to play sounds no you can not do that to my knowledge.
@marinopposite I havent been able to find any sounds outside of the program to add on to it, I use the latest version with the william godefrey sounds and they are great! you just click the little blank rectangle above the midi channel selector to open up all the sounds that you can choose from, also you can create your own sounds and tweak them to achieve what you are specifically looking for, i havent personally played around with the program too much
@PeterSteele111 thanks for the answer, i see now that i used the program more that my quiestion was ill formulated. i was just looking for the way to change between the given sound faster. bt its ok now. if i may interest you in beatrix, good hammond sound but difficult to setup.
@marinopposite well if this is truly a midi controller you can buy or download VST's (virtual studio technology) and use the keyboard to control the sounds on the vst bank. endless possibilities with VST's
@DenemChikn thanks! in the meantime i did that and realized there is much to learn and try. concerning ZynAddfx i need to patch up my own soundfont to be able to change between sounds from my controller.

How can I get the sound out of my m-audio keystation 88es? My lap top is windows XP and I tried to download the same program as you shown,
but direction for how to install zynaddsubfx seem hard to understand. I only could no. 1 & 2.
And for Jack audio kit, I downladed jack-1.9.7.tar from jackaudio web site but I can't open the file.
I installed another free program "Midi Master", and it seems should work, but I don't know the set up.
Please help ~
