  • Loser!? I'll tell ya who the loser was when she died.THE WHOLE WORLD.When I first saw Janis,my impression was "campy", that's an act, stage personae, etc.I was a young "wannabe" like so many others back then."I" was the poser.I am a hard bitten 61 years old now and I have seen a lot of living and dieing in my life.Frankly not much inspires me or surprises me any more, but "THIS" little girl.No ONE ever put more heart and soul into living. She still brings tears to my eyes.jw

  • Janis you put all your heart and soul in to your music and that tells me a lot about you.I can remember listening coming home from school listening to you when I was only 12 and I"m 52 now.You have a great sense of humour and Dick Cavett is rapped in you I think.RIP Janis

  • i love this.OH SHIT I LOVE ALL OF JANIS JOPLIN,S MUSIC. THIS WOMAN IS A LEGEND.

  • effin in-cred-i-ble...

  • how beautiful<3

  • In case anyone doesn't know it, that is called "singing your heart out" and she did it every night unlike the cheap fakes out there today.

I hope that God in his mercy took her up to heaven so she can make it a better place for musicians.

  • If Janis was still alive she'd be 68 years old now. It's sad that all of the legends were killed off (by the CIA incidentally - do the research - the CIA under J Edgar Hoover killed off Hendricks, Morrison, Joplin et al - look it up) it would be hard to think of them all as old men and women. So this way they are eternal for the ages. They will forever be what they are and what they were.

  • @TheTubePortal Far be it from me to defend the CIA, J. Edgar Hoover, etc., but Hoover was NEVER in charge of the CIA. That state-paid criminal was the head of the FBI. Such poorly-researched claims only serve to minimize the legitimacy of serious ones.

  • @57eer - Thanks for the reply. I know Hoover was director of the FBI, I simply misspoke. All it takes is a quick Google search to find that the substance of what I said is entirely accurate. People think that what we experience in our daily lives is reality, in other words, that everything is fine, our government is great and they have our best interests in mind. The true reality is much more frightening. Do the research instead of criticizing me for a three-letter mistake. Convince yourself.

  • @TheTubePortal You're absolutely right. My apologies for being anal about something that was, as you alluded to, not the crux of your comment and for suggesting that your research was lacking. Mine is actually non-existent on this subject. Trust me, I'm with you on this. I've always been one to take official stories and those folks "functioning in my best interest" with a grain of salt. People of more "power" and influence have found an untimely demise. Thanks for posting.

  • @57eer - Thanks for being friendly, I appreciate it :o) Too many YouTube replies contain only swears or insults. It's nice when ppl can be civil.

  • There is so much vulnerability in the look on her face after singing that song which reminded me how much I love Janis Joplin that it really moved me. I probably saw that performance as a teenager and now I'm seeing it really for the first time. Thanks so much for posting it. peace & love

  • @rcpmac Good one.

  • Janis Joplin was and still is one of the greatest blue soul and rock singers ever to be put on this Planet

    Love allways J.J.

    Frome

    Harley the Legendary whisky drinker

  • She once squeezed my corpuscle.

  • The Queen!!!! :-)

  • THE TRUE .. ONE OF AN AMAZING KIND! JANIS.. is STILL QUEEN OF.. ROCK SOUL!!!

  • joer que bonita cancion!!!

  • Without a doubt...get it while you can! Will always love her!

  • First equal love for women? wondering if it was good.

  • Janis Joplin have got a big piece of my heart since I've heard her songs at the first time!

  • why did she look so old for her age? great singer by the way

  • @BubbleGumPrincessLOL She was on heroin, among other things...

  • @BubbleGumPrincessLOL Janis wasn't really into wearing make up and plus she was a beatnik, a hippy.

  • man oh man, Pearl sure did know how to get them blues out where we all can enjoy..

  • The Music died with Janis.....

  • @smilelikeUmeanit90 The music is alive, it is immortal, but listeners died somewhere along the line, they actually think Just Beiber is a real musician!!!!! And don't even get me started on Lady Gaga...

  • @TheSarahfran i think you are wrong but in the way you keep talking about em in a JJ video? thats a bad idea, 2 more comments and you start seeing em in related videos.

  • @TheSarahfran Yes sadly those people like biber or gaga spears etc they are porn bimbos sponsered by coroprations, nothing to do with music or art.....scary crap man. peace.

  • @smilelikeUmeanit90 The music didn't die.. you just have to work harder to find it these days

  • Wow. Perfection.

  • @Vejur9000

Yes, it's true than more a voice a legend

  • Before there was autotune there was Janis.

  • Yes and I had an occassion to see her in person at the UVA did I and will remember me and Bobby McGee O yes

  • emotion

  • Jordan Jerry Ragovoy (1930-2011), may you rest in peace.

  • Superb.

  • and yellow :-P

  • black and white can cut a bit from her

  • bzw. kenn ich keine ^^

  • da gibts fast keine 2te referenzstimme zu :-)

  • Straight from the soul...

  • I've listened to this woman for 40 years and in all that time I have NEVER heard a female singer EVEN COME CLOSE to her talent. Not Joss, not Melissa, not nobody! NO ONE can sing rock blues like Janis. Why is that??? Not one person can spill the heart that bleeds over the tongue like this woman. When she sings, she embraces an emotion SO RAW that anyone that really listens to her hears the hurt and pain she endured. These "made-up" chicks today rely mainly on their looks, not their souls.

  • holy shit! what an powerful voice. absolutely moving

  • Wow, nice performance! Thanks for posting these Reggaegirl!

  • there r 27 idiots at the world...

    Janis - S2

  • I ate lunch with her in the high school lunch room. Before she startes singing.

  • I love Them 60's & 70's

  • I love JANIS! " you gotta get while you can"

  • GOOSEBUMPS EVERYTIME I HEAR HER VOICE.....

  • i am wondering how anybody listens to Janis Joplin and thinks of lady gagoo or britney spears. they are at different ends of the spectrum.

  • THE ONE AND ONLY

    GODESS

  • gatopfuelsaver

  • I have just cried all my tears from the 70's, when I used to listen to this song with my brother.

  • 27 ppl are obviously not gettin' any HA!

  • WoW

  • Fabulous performer. This is less than 4 months before her death from heroin overdose, age 27. Amazing that she could still sing through chronic hoarseness (I'd guess vocal nodes). I'll always love her musical brashness.

  • this day was on my birth date, i was born two years later...how ironic... R.I.P. ms joplin... oké no she would hated to be called ms...R.I.P. janis...

  • Man how did people get away with wearing shit like that back in those days? Love Janis and her music, but fuck-a-gee-gee, horrible fashion sense.

  • @KidsWithGuns1992 It's part of what made her unique. So her clothes weren't something from Paris, but it was her trademark.

  • @Murphygrif Aww yeah I know, like Stevie Ray Vaughan - he wore sort of "weird" clothes and that was his trademark. And Jimi Hendrix, mind you I like quite a lot of the stuff he used to wear.

  • no woman ever sang like her before and no one has sang like her since!

  • Tan perfecta, tan simple, vivió y murió como quiso, en la de ella!

siempre fresca y natural, con su voz única y esa personalidad tan especial q la caracterizaba ella vive en nuestros corazones y se hace eterna en su música ♥♥♥

  • I saw her live in the 60's at the FILMORE many times, just like this:::She was AMAZING THEN.....She's just as amazing today!!!!! ROCK ON!!!

  • 26 people have no taste of music

  • words, emotion and talent for TODAY. I love you, too, Janis. RIP

  • Jpolin...amazing....now you've got Spears and Gaga....how we have fallen...

  • @beatlejim64 I like all three actually. Janis is amazing and can't be compared, but I wouldn't talk down on pop today.

  • @beatlejim64 I'd never put Britney Spears in the same category as Lady Gaga. Spears is pure fluff, with no substance to her music & not much more to her as a person. Gaga makes some important social statements which lift people up, & she's a good person with a unique presence on stage. Joplin was in a class by herself, with her blues-rock sound & gravelly voice, but her musical ability was destroyed by her lack of self-esteem & her self-destructive behavior. Definitely gone too soon, though.

  • Janis Joplin is the best for rock music. lady gaga succcckkkk!

  • such a poignant descriptive song. How fortunate I Am to have lived during the times of such great Spirited Souls as Janis..! "At times ruff n tuff got you by, But deep w/in Dolphins made you cry. That which you have kept & stored, Can now be given to Your Lord. For in death you are not defeated, At The Right Hand of God, Janis...go & be seated!" This is an excerpt from my poem Tribute to Ol' Sweetness(Walter Payton) Felt the need to pass this onto Janis. Kindred Soul Sistah Talara D. Masters

i just want to give her a hug...

  • One of my most favorites
