  • Hi, my engine light came on in my 2002 nissan maxima engine. I changed the bad oxygen sensors that the codes told me. Do i need to reset the engine light myself or should i let the car run until it goes away?

    Thank you.

  • Hey richpin my car recently lost some power and started shaking. And the service engine soon light came on. I think I may have an exhaust leak. How can I be sure?

  • @mrfiveduece The first thing to do is have the computer scanned to retrieve the trouble codes which will help in diagnosing the problem.

  • sound like peter griffen lmao

  • @NolaCTC9 yeah lol that'd be funny, but he doesnt sound like peter griffin at all.

  • Hey richpin, I just wanted to say thanks a ton for making these great repair videos. I have a '99 SL2 that has had the SES light on for about a month. After finding out my O2 sensor was bad, I watched your video on replacing it and decided to try it myself. Took me about 20 minutes (10 minutes to replace it and 10 minutes figuring out how to get the SES light to turn off afterward, lol) and now my SL2 is running great again. Thank you so much!

  • i got code po171 went to autozone nd they said it was o2 sensor bank one can someone vertify this?

  • @highlifein909 Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition

  • @richpin06a so what do you think it might be ? today i got code po133

  • @highlifein909 The oxygen sensor is faulty The wiring to the sensor is broken / frayed There is an exhaust leak

  • @richpin06a fixed! replaced 02 sensor runs great no light and also clean throttle body while i was at it. it was filled with carbon residue but car is running great now thanks !

  • @highlifein909 Your all set for another 100,000 miles

  • my 98 sl1 spit out P0131 Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1 and P0304 #4 Cyl misfire. I take it that the P0131 code refers to this one, the front sensor. Also what are the odds that the cylinder misfire is related? The car runs fairly smooth but there is some noticeable noise and hesitation from the engine.

  • @13ryan886 Do a tune up,plugs, wires and clean the coil towers clear the computer and see if the P0131 comes back.

  • @richpin06a thanks, great videos! I followed your video for the starter and it went smoothly and fixed the problem. i will look into a tuneup.

  • Don't forget to disconnect the BATTERY and don't reconnect it for several minutes AFTER the reinstallation of the sensor so as to RESET the trouble signal.

  • i have a 2001 saturn sl2 and he made this look so easy. i wanna try it myself. na but it looks super easy

  • my volkswagen petrol E5 (o2) model, while driving the EPC light came on and no accelleration. I turned off . After a while , started on and drove a few km ,the problem arose The mechanic says the oxygen sensor is gone. What todo? How much would it cost pls answer

  • @peterthms6 Can you tell me what the trouble codes were from the check engine light being on.

  • richpin is this the upstream oxygen sensor? I got the trouble code P0133. Thanks for every single video!

  • @intraterrestre Yes it is .....sensor 1 bank 1

  • Okay heres my problem, my converter and oxygen sensors were stolen off my 99 chevy lumina. I want to replace both sensors and the converter, so what do i need, right now i have a straight pipe in its place but of course the engine light is on.

  • Thnx man I'm a rookie with cars, this helped

  • I don't understand the idea of warming up the vehicle a bit, I thought that the heat would make it expand and harder to get the sensor out. The spray would be useful for sure.

  • @tigergreg8 The manifold will heat up and expand quicker than the sensor.

  • sorry for messaging u again but the line on the ac with the blue cap. is tht the low pressure line? and is the year of this car a 98. i kno the yr 98-00 looks the same.

  • Careful with the anti seize stuff, do not get any on the sensor tip! I like the hot manifold trick.

  • Sub! Thanks so much! ive used more than one of your videos!

  • on Saturn S series 2001 is sensor 2 ( 02 ) sensor also easy to change and is it also under hood or under the vehicle

  • @mathew020x Sensor 2 is located to the rear of the catalytic converter.

  • @richpin06a Can you do a video of how to remove the rear Oxygen Sensor on a Saturn Series?

(The one to the rear of the catalytic converter) - I have a 2000 Saturn SL2, but you can do use any Saturn S-series and I can use the info to do it. Thanks!

  • @slasherhost I will but in the meantime check out one of my videos called " Trouble Code P0141 Rear Oxygen Sensor" it might help you.

  • @richpin06a yeah, that helped a lot :) Thanks! Love your work, great videos.

  • Hey, Richpin. Repacing the o2 sensor. Noticed that mine points inboard-outboard on the exhaust manifold (left to right) and yours points fore-aft on the exhaust manifold. Did saturn have 2 different exhaust manifolds for the DOHC engines? Mine is a '99 SW2.

    Thanks.

  • @vicarod In 99 they did change the exhaust manifold.

  • Is there an oxygen sensor before catalityc converter and after then a rear one on a 1998 Gran Priz GT 3.8 and if so where is the rear one or the 3rd one located thank you for your time

  • I need to know how many oxygon sensors are on a 1998 gran prix gt 3.8

  • @TacaraMiracle Looks like you have three

  • can you show me how to remove the transmisson please i need help? take a look at my video thank you

  • great vids as always

  • rich the front of the exhaust pipe is always bank 1 or the rear is 1

  • @hp11208 Sensor 1 is the front sensor 2 is the rear.

  • @Richpin06a, you've saved me again! I wish you were local so I could buy you a beer!

  • @keviefriend That would nice.

  • Hey richpin how you doin? First off thank you for all the help u have given me off ur videos. Just a quick question i have a 94 sl2 dohc and i heard there is only one oxygen sensor location and i wanted to know if the location u show in the video is the same in my car. Thanks again richpin

  • @nosfreak2k3 Yes you only have one oxygen sensor and it is in the exhaust manifold like in the video.

  • thanks for help!!!!!!!

  • Is this sensor heated or not?

  • @sawsim22 No it is not

  • @richpin06a Thank you for responding...I think I might try to replace this part myself I'm very handy...I just paid $635 for a new ignition switch which was $73 for the part and $507 for "LABOR" I could have died right there...and one more question if you dont mind what is the name brand of the compound you use on the threads?

  • @sawsim22 I use Permatex Anti-Seize Lubricant

  • hey rich if im a diy guy how do i kno which one is bank 1,2,2 or 4 do they run in order from front to back or back to the front ones

  • @hp11208 If you have a 4 cylinder you only have one bank if you have a 6or8 cylinder you have bank 1 which is on cylinder #1 side and bank 2 is on the other side of the engine.

  • Bless you!! This is exactly the video I needed. Thank you so much!

  • Thanks to your video, I changed my own O2 sensor. The inspection place wanted to charge me about $1000 to replace several things, which didn't sound worthwhile to me.

I stepped through the maintenance on my own, and the O2 sensor was the last thing I needed to replace to go from failing to passing the emissions test. Thank you!

  • :) hey Rich;how do I ask for that sensor in the autoparts...HEATED OXIGEN SENSOR(bank 1 sensor 1) .? is that one...thanx man....

  • @MIGUELTERCERO just ask for the one before catalytic converter

  • hi rich, is WD40 works fine also as an alternative for PB blast? Thanks!

  • Not as good of a penetrant as PB

  • I just changed my O2 senser with a bosch universal one (19 bucks vs $72 bucks at the dealer) Just wondering if I have to disconnect the neg overnight to reset the computer and get the check engine light to go off...any help would be great..thanks

  • Check my latest video i think it is what your looking for.

  • richpin ... is 7/8 the right size for the sensor ??

  • what gen is that? my dads 2002 sl1 don;t look like

  • gen 2

  • i need to replace the after cat o2 sensor. It looks like its surrounded by a piece of metal. Do i need a special tool to remove it?

  • You will most likely need one the special ones i showed in the video.

  • The metal around it is just to protect it from road debris. You can use a welding torch and remove it, otherwise work around it. Mine did not come up, even with an impact wrench at 600 ft/lbs (it started to round the sensor). So I heated the entire thing up to 1500 with acedeline and then wicked in wax to lube the threads. Then it came right out.

  • Thanks for the awesome videos. :)

  • you said if it was bad to just cut it off? do you mean to run it without it?

  • Cut off the connector to enable you to put the wrench on to remove and replace the sensor.

  • oh ok, that makes sense, but can you run auto's without them?

  • yes, but it will not run the best and use much more fuel.

  • that sensor turn on your check engine light?

  • Yes it will turn on the service engine soon when it goes bad.

  • Man you can eat off that engine..Nice videos. Keep it up..
