  • Being able to get to Mars hasn't been the problem. The almost 2-year round trip is the problem.

  • wow i cant wait to see how this turns out

  • Mankind on the Mars. I believe it when I see it. Unfortiunatly the US have problems to solve that are more down to earth.

  • I miss the Constellation Program!

  • i think the saturn v would have been enough. it's a shame we got rid of it because that sucker given enough fuel has the capicity to make it to mars

  • The Saturn V, had we chose to continue building it, might have solved the problems we self-imposed on ourselves when we got rid of it.

  • we can go to mars today why dont they go are let us no they made it

  • looks like the falcon 9 heavy

  • If only jets can go to space stupid altitude restriction. I want to see the space!

  • Where's my ion engine jet pack!!??

  • Same old stuff! It's just Saturn 5 on steroids. Think outside the bloody box NASA!

  • @edj66 It's hard to wrap your head around it but the fucks on welfare are getting much more funds than the gov gives NASA.

  • @edj66 Tried and true works every time. Why waste money on R&D if you have something that already works and works well ? Besides, we'll never go anywhere with this anyway. The repugnantcans want a "gee wiz" space program but won't fund it.

  • I want to go to mars on a rocket and have a adventure and get back safely after like 20 years. Just like odysyus.

  • @TheFunnysamnoob333 The one NASA plans is most probably a 1 way trip Lol

It was said they were looking for Candidates who were 60+ year olds who would prefer to stay in the Spacecraft till they die and research above the Martian Atmosphere.

  • @forgo ttenmemories63 call me i will go

  • The Us will crumble under it's own debt before this rocket even takes off!!!

  • slowpokes with technoledgy. we shouldve already sent poeple to mars and plannned a intersteller mission manned or otherwise

  • @frogfan101

Lol what? Were very new to space. Cant even imagine interstellar travel. Lets try in a couple thousand more years if were lucky?

  • If extraterrestrials have the technology to reach Earth then humans should be able to reach other solar systems too. It's just a matter of time, if all goes well.

  • @Krakolio

But those creatures could very well be millions of years ahead of us...

  • @FrostbitexP I don't see why not. What's you're point?

  • This is a joke. NASA cancelled the NERVA project in 1972, at that time the Nuclear thermal engines that were developed for the project had the capability to send manned missions to Mars and the outer solar system - but funding for this proven technology was withdrawn. Now it looks like the Russians are developing this same technology and will be able to put it into use far earlier than this disingenuous idea.

  • Mine the asteroids for rare-earth metals, make trillions of dollars profit.

  • Now that the space program has become privatized, there will be a space exploration boom. I am willing to bet things will begin to progress at a much faster rate now. Competition will be the catalyst. Musk and SpaceX have accomplished a great deal in only 4 years for a fraction of the cost. Other companies are nearing completion of their programs as well. Man will walk on Mars before 2025....count on it.

  • Looks like a Saturn IV with 2 solid rocket boosters.

    Money well spent btw.

  • Elon Musk and his company SpaceX WILL take us to Mars and back within the next 15 years...mark my words. If anyone can do it, he can (and will). Within only 4 years, he has designed and launched the Falcon 9 rocket, and Dragon space capsule, for around an eighth of the cost of NASA's Orion program (which has been 10 years already and still no Orion). Musk also has the passion and determination to go to Mars. If you can hang on for another 15 years or so, you WILL see it.

  • @brabanthallen Good. Because I'm becoming an astronaut and i plan on going to Space X

  • '

only american rocket and spacecraft to the mars without ussr russia,,,

no need ussr russia with america,,,

    dont depend on ussr russia,,,

let america can go mars and return to home earth safety without ussr russia

  • @bestamerica, the USSR no longer exists, but by working together with Russia and other nations, the US could keep costs down. Future deep space missions will follow the model set by the International Space Station. The economic reality is such that no one nation can support the costs of a manned mission to Mars or a permanent Moon base. Several nations working together can share the expense. This sort of cooperation is a good thing, despite your insinuation that America should go it alone.

  • bwillpdx, ' okay thank explain,,, dont need work with ussr russia, only america can going to mars,,, ussr russia can going to venus,,, dont worry about american cost currency,,, ussr russis want america spending,,, ussr russia want save itself and selfishy,,, remember ussr russia have 2 flags,,, red flag of ussr and 3 colors of CIS flag,,, best AMERICAN / ISS can going to mars without ussr russia,,, ussr russia is a big evil empire country in the world
  • well i thought man was meant to be on mars by 2020 why do we not fund nasa enough they need alot more support from other countrys that fund there own space missions would it not benifit if russia india uk and usa funded nasa its stupid and childish that we have to compete :(

  • Even if we DID go to mars, how can we return?! The thrust of the capsule will have to be high or stay there for a WHILE.

  • @Devine5496 I've seen this question in an article somewhere - The article came to one conclusion that a mission to Mars would be a suicide mission.

  • I bet we've had the technology to go to Mars, or even leave our solar system for more than 50 years. Because the government has been reverse-engineering alien technology at area 51 for that long.

    Just saying. =D

  • @randomperson63758 i doubt ti has anything to do with alien technology but the governments military is always years more advanced then civilians in society

  • @Theethruth But you never know :D

  • @randomperson63758 Bullshit.We would have used it.

  • @yesiamawizardjonny We probably have.... but the government or NASA hasn't told us yet. =/

  • @randomperson63758 Leaving the solar system?and going where?

  • @TheUltimateDown1 Maybe Gliese 581g :)

  • @TheUltimateDown1 well considering we are looking for another earth like planet right now where do you think we will be going? maybe that earth like planet? the question aint where how will we get there?

  • @randomperson63758 yea.. they probly found gold or meaby paradis.. and don't wanna share with the rest of the world...

    DOWN WITH AREA51

  • @randomperson63758 Wow...that's just wow..I hope you're joking, because if not you need a hit to the head.

  • @navyrayne no i'm not joking... open your eyes, how do you think we've been able to advance in technology so quickly over the span of 50 or so years

  • @randomperson63758 Wow, you're an idiot..an absolute idiot and you need your head checked.

  • @navyrayne how am i an idiot? Because i open my eyes and see what the government really does in the world? or because i just know more than you about the government?

  • @randomperson63758 Listen son, I was a member of the united states armed forces for over 5 years and I can tell you that you know jack all about the government. I'd wager your either a conspiracy nut job, or some teenage kid with too much time on his hands. There are no aliens, and the rapid advancement in technology is something that can be explained without all your conspiracy theorist garbage. Get off the internet, go out and serve your country or get a real job.

  • @navyrayne LOL necause you served in the armed forces doesnt mean you know shit about the government

  • @randomperson63758 So, what your saying is, you know nothing about science or technology ?

  • Comment removed

  • @Postie218 No, i'm saying i open my eyes and see the world for what it is and i can handle the truth... unlike you

  • @randomperson63758 Hmm, it seems you can't see very far with your head up your ass. LOL, your funny.

  • @Postie218 well nothing's stopping you from living your life in a cocoon controlled by the government, where you see and hear lies 24/7.

  • @randomperson63758 Don't even waste your time answering that sort - he's just on here to give disinfo.

  • @razor71927 i know.... it just amuses me to see how people react when they're fed the truth. :D

  • Well.... the Saturn V rockets that got us to the moon were perfect.... why don't we upgrade them with modern day tech and what we learned from space shuttle so that they can reach mars?

  • The USA (military) have already been to Mars. NASA is just playing games with the population!

  • @1thatisilluminated prove it

  • @Arcticviper you should do your own research if you search for the truth

  • @lacanau You realize that the burden of proof is on you when you make claims like that, right? Provide your sources. It's not up to me to go out and read crazy people's websites, which are full of conspiracy hypothesis; you should know what you're basing your claim on, and I want to know the sources.

  • @Arcticviper Check out the Billy Meier photos that he took from a UFO about 20 years. ago!

  • Russian scientists say, "We believe we will have contact with alien life forms by 2030." Obama thinks we will land on Mars by 2030....

IF it happens in the year 2030....

    I smell set up...

  • they mynt get to the moon by 2030 but not mars the chineas mynt the u s wont do it this centry

  • There will probably be a huge space exploration revolution some time in the future, so progress won't always be so slow. I just hope it happens while I'm still alive; I doubt it will though :(

  • @Krakolio NASA has launched 2 probes in the last 6 months, dude. I don't think that's slow progress haha

  • @ApertureScience101 That isn't saying much. If at all, it'll be a long time before humans travel to other solar systems. Space exploration is extremely difficult and expensive. I didn't say progress won't become more or less rapid. I hope there will a revolution in space exploration while I'm still alive. I want to live to see people walk on Mars. Maybe space exploration with humans is advancing faster than most other intelligent lifeforms from other planets.

  • @Krakolio Yeah good point. Guess I misunderstood your comment.

  • @Krakolio you'll be long gone by the time man leaves solar system.i bet we will be long gone by the time they decide to terraform another planet. its a good thing though cause at that time there will be wars the whole time.

  • @Krakolio nine not time

  • @jsharps1000 What do you mean by that?

  • @Krakolio what i meant is that there will be alot of wars over mars most likely once we terraform it. i mean cause shit will evolve differently on mars than here on earth ya know? so what we have lost here there will be on mars or what we need here. so then war is created due to our nothing and mars something.

  • @jsharps1000 Do you mean that the people of Mars and Earth will fight because of their differences, or because Mars will become a better place to live than Earth (also a major difference)?

  • @Krakolio i meant once it's terraformed there'd be wars because that'd bring me to our economy because new resources such as the shit when we run dry of like oli

  • @jsharps1000 There will likely be conflict, but I don't think there will be any wars. Maybe a few but it probably won't become another world war.

  • @Krakolio lol it will happen but it'll be called something else to cover up a world war just like now.

  • @jsharps1000 Never thought of that. Good point. The wars will probably be on Earth between different Earth countries.

  • @Krakolio im 13 :D i think im going to be the genaration

  • @darkrapter125 And I'm 19.

  • @Krakolio then lets cross fingers for there will come ailens this year - and give us a helping hand...

I think it's the only chance... if should happen... like win in lotto.. meaby we are lucky

  • @Krakolio You will... immortality and medical breakthrough to extend your life is not far away, provided you have enough money and good health. You and I will have that choice that no mankind had before.

  • 2030 ? but i want to go now

  • How the hell do you leave mars?

  • @TooMuchGass same way we left the moon

  • Comment removed

  • but ive herd about ion tech that can get us to mars in 39 days

  • Things like this make me want to stop smoking :P Ill be in my 40's by 2030. Hopefully we can go to Mars before that :P Ill be ready to die when I see a man walk on another planet. How fucking cool.

  • @EWWYOURFAC3 in your 40,s by 2030? you lucky sod. i,ll be in hell with carl sagan for a chat about what we,re missing out on.

  • "If I give food to the poor, people call me a saint. If I ask why the poor have no food, people call me a communist" - Not sure?

  • Let's prove to the moon hoax conspiracy nuts that we actually did go to the moon and can also go deep into space by blasting Barry Obama out to Mars and leaving him there. ;)

  • Why Mars? No taxes there. Why Mars? No government there to enslave you. Why Mars? Unlimited freedom and land. Why Mars? Because no one owns the place. Why Mars? Water in the ground and more territory than Earth. Why Mars? For the adventure and for the possibilities!

  • Human DNA is NOT allowed to go beyond Moon. Thats why moon constantly circling around this planet. It is like an organic LOCK. Until we learn "How to live in harmony" with each other; we will simply stuck here and eventually we will destroy ourselfs. NASA is the biggest JOKE in human history.

  • @AquariusEddie your the most stupidest personi have ever heard so you think the moon blocks us to reach our goals shut the fuck up bitch go back yo school

  • @Imtre1 “Kisses blown are kisses wasted. Kisses aren't kisses unless they are tasted. Kisses spread germs and germs are hated. So kiss me baby; I'm vaccinated.”

  • @AquariusEddie where might i ask is the slightest evidence for this cute little theory of yours?

  • @AquariusEddie who said that hahahahah

  • @AquariusEddie Your f*cking nuts bro.

  • @AquariusEddie What if we blow up the moon?

  • Comment removed

  • interesting that other means of propulsion haven't been furthered

  • Please send Barry O.

  • @VaderJacobs123 if theres no air on the moon why was the flag moving theres a 50/50 persent chance it was real and fake they have land and technology to fake it at area 51

  • @Killuminatiuk the flag only moved when the eagle took off from the surface from the engine exhaust.

  • moon landing faked at area 51 buy 2030 they will have technology and land to fake mars landing

  • @Killuminatiuk

Do you have the proof that the moon landing was fake?

  • come on nasa don't bullshit me

  • 18 Billion dollars? Thats cheap then compare to how much the US military spends having overseas bases.

  • NASA IS LYING!!!!

They already have a secret space program with "astronauts off planet"!!!!

The Northrop chief said 15 years ago: "We've the technology to bring ET home."

And the UK hacker Gary McKinnon discovered all the secret lists of astronauts off planet and the secret space program on the NASA computers years ago.

  • This will create more jobs and maby there will be some jobs on Mars later on. And big rockets are cool

  • So lets say you load up the stuff to build a rocket in space at the space station. Then you take what fuel you need to go. Because no friction in space. All you need is one blast and Off you go. Battery technology has come around to where you could power any landing vehicle. You would just drop the lander. then it would only need the fuel to launch it. back to mother craft. Man I am stoned... Lmao

  • @lastpatriot4America I think you're probably mostly right here. Except, the way they are talking these days, there wouldn't be a return mission. The people who go are signing up for a one-way trip. They would become colonists. Instead of using the effort to get them back, it might be wiser to use all that energy and money on simply putting down the beginnings of a permanent base settlement.

I'd go in a heartbeat. This world doesn't have long for this world.

  • @wolf765123 fuck you

  • what a tremendous waste of money. spending all those billions of dollars for the sake of going to a barren rock. and if they waited a hundred years we'd probably have the technology to do it for a fraction of the cost to do it using today's technology.

  • @wolf765123 But, it will further the technology and understanding. Just how technology was boosted during wars, if we didn't 'wast' all this money and do this there wouldn't be that much technological advancement.

  • @wolf765123 Your computer is made out of a couple of cans and some string, isn't it?

  • Go baby, GO! MARS IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!

  • @MartianStories ROFLMAO ! To funny

  • *newsflash* Man points at rocket picture. Says, "It goes up really far!"

  • I hope these are using the plasma rocket engines that have been in development

  • oh snap, good luck then!

  • oh shit, good luck then

  • It'l never happen.

  • Good stuff. Would be great to see the USA doing manned space exploration again.

  • So is NASA saying that the current Russian Rocket is superior to their own. Is that why NASA scrapped their rocket because it's crap?

  • i volunteer we send all the jews on its first test flight

  • @SeiferOptics your comment makes no sense, you said,'i volunteer' and then suggested they send up jews?, anyway, im not even a jew and i find your comment pathetic..

  • @SeiferOptics your comment makes no sense, you said,'i volunteer' and then suggested they send up jews?, anyway, im not even a jew and i find your comment pathetic.

  • @SeiferOptics You must like the Jews very much then. I guess you're hoping to make Mars the next Major Power of the Solar System. If they are going to go, then I wish I could go. There won't be any reason to stay here. All the jobs and opportunity will be on Mars.

  • @MartianStories Usually the first test flight of rockets end in a giant fireball, sending the entire population of jews on this test flight will end in WORLD PEACE! I'M MISS CAROLINA! I WANT WORLD PEACE!

  • @SeiferOptics Well, since the thing is probably being designed by Jews at companies owned by Jews, I'm sure if you want a bunch of Jews to go onboard the first flight, then that flight will probably be a resounding success.

And do keep in mind: the original early American space program was created, designed, and built by GERMAN (ex-Nazi, in fact) scientists. They had PLENTY of explosions during their early testflights.
