Also, looked like a full 2 ounces in about 20 sec with the last few seconds going blonde. Try to pull for 25-30 second and get 1.5 ounces (two 3/4 full 1oz glasses) without getting light color at any point. Probably not possible with your setup.
Reminds me of when I was learning and had no idea what I was doing :) You're not going to ever get real espresso without a really expensive grinder. You could also, I'm guessing, depressurize that portafilter so that your not getting fake crema. Notice how quickly it dissipated? Another thing is to not lock in the PF and let it sit next to the group. It can burn the coffee. So to summarize, good start - but I wouldn't drink that espresso!
Thanks for the tutorial... I just got my Starbucks Barista machine a few weeks ago off of Craigslist and it's a fabulous machine. One thing though, your steam wand should not be leaking. I noticed yours leaks a bit while heating up and when you are pulling your shots. Google: leaking steam wand barista machine and you'll find many sites explaining how to fix it. It's an easy fix.
@ehgz1 Thank you for the compliment. It has been leaking, and it seems to be getting worse. I will check out one of those "fix it" sites you are talking about in the near future and hopefully I can remedy the issue. Thanks for the heads up about it. I really didn't even realize that it was an issue(figured every machine did it at least a little). I will update you when I get it done, if the attempt to fix it works. Thanks again.
@chasemonster Thanks. I guess it is what it is. They are good espresso machines. I just ran cleaner through it for the first time in 3 years. It pulls consistent espresso shots every time and I hope it gives me another 10 years of use. I bought the thing for $25 when I worked at Starbucks. A customer returned it saying it didn't work, but we tested it and it was fine. They went with another machine, and we couldn't put this one back in retail. It sat in the back room for 6 months doing nothing.
