Then, when they decided to film their "Polar Special" they used the Hilux again for it. They had a company called Artic Vehicles (based in Iceland I think) carry out some mods- Big wheels, Reinforced sump guards etc and low freeze fuel tanks- but left the rest of the trucks completely stock. To date, they are the only non purpose built vehicles to have driven to the Pole.
With that said though, they only used the Toyotas because they had experience with them, they probably would have made it in Ford trucks as well. For the record, I have nothing against Ford lol, I just dont think people should rip on Toyota trucks when there is nothing wrong with them, and in all honesty they are really very good.

A good friend of mine has a 05' f-250 with about 65,000 miles. It's the biggest rattle-trap piece of shit I have ever rode in. The dashboard is falling apart, the door panels and just about every other piece of trim squeeks or rattles every inch of the door rubbers leak, the windsheild gasket leaks. I don't care how TOUGH they are who wants to pay 30 grand for a truck thats going to fall apart in a few years. He said he wishes he never bought the piece of shit.
He never beats on it. It looks like new on the outside. If you knew him you would see that all of his vehicles are immaculate. The only off roading he does is the 5 miles of smooth dirt road he drives on to get to his hunting camp 3-4 times a year and the rest of the time it's all paved roads. He's a 60 year old commercial fisherman. He basically uses the truck to haul his fishing gear from his house to the wharf. No pounding or offroading ever. It's just a rattly piece of crap.

yeah right dude. i like chevys and ford, but you'd be surprised how much the 7.3 can pull....even the 6.8. chevys crappy engines shut off fuel goin to cylinders when ur on the highway. the 6.8 and 7.3 aren't fuel efficient at all, but they'll get u where u need to go and pull what u have to pull no problem.

Sure it can't do alot of hard work, I don't know about the new Nissan Pickups, but my car is more of a sports car, not something for doing hard work. When it comes to work, I do trust Ford. Infact, I am planning on purchasing an F-150 as soon as I have the money.

Cummins all the way. I've had bad times with duramax so I'm not to keen on trusting them. But the ford I'm gettin has a 5.0 V8 gas, so I think I'll b alright.

1993, but the owner could have told me otherwise, I guess I'll have to check it myself. The truck is in excellent shape. I drove it for a couple of days, never looked under the hood though. Its an F-150 XLT Superduty, so I don't know if that would indicate a bigger engine.

Yes Beg, we do have studded tire here in the US. I live in an area that doesn't snow at all, so I wouldn't know about the usage of such tires. But I do have chains for my F150 cause I do go up the mountains some times. You can click on my nick name to see my truck.
