4.0GM jailbroken on iphone 3GS The right way to do this

@zouklv um are you doing this on a mac? If you are then you should have done this through terminal using command line, and if you did do this through terminal I hope you followed that video or found instructions on changing the hosts file. On downgrading to 3.1.2 there is a video for editing the ^^ hosts file just download the 3.1.2 firmware and press option restore in itunes. Once it restores you get 1015 error just use blackra1n to bypass that and your downgraded.

i downgrade from 4.0 to 3.1.3 but the baseband stay at 05.13.04 it did not change how do i fix it and ,how do you downgrade to 3.1.2. on an Imac. can some one help?

@zouklv Okay the baseband can't change but if you need an unlock ultrasn0w should work fine. downgrade to 3.1.2 you need to bypass apples server editing a hosts file on your Mac I posted a video in the description so use that. If you have trouble I can try to help but the video is better.

@mfsandman If you don’t have your 3.1.2 (NOT 3.1.3) SHSH blobs (ECID SHSH) files saved, you will have to then wait for the next version of Spirit. Follow Musclenerd and comex or even iphone_dev...these are the guys from the dev team who are working on the jailbreak.

@Technologylover1 are you trying to install 4.0 GM? If so I hope you can downgrade to 3.1.2 and jailbreak with blackra1n then use that custom ipsw for 4.0 that you should have created, and after you have 4.0GM jailbroken. This is only if you have saved your SHSH blobs on sauriks server from 3.1.2, and you had many chances to do that. If not then wait because a jailbreak is ready just waiting for apple to release 4.0.1 or 4./1 update. Follow Musclenerd on twitter for latest info!

@ilovealdito if your iphone is the newbootrom you are gonna have to wait. be patient and please follow musclenerd and Comex on twitter. These guys have the jailbreak ready and they update their info regularly so by reading that it says once apple releases their 4.0.1/4.1 firmware update they will release a spirit like jailbreak. Once you jailbreak unlock will follow after. Wait you didnt want to "upgrade" to iphone 4? If thats the case you should have because they are working on a unlock also

Remember that, and also to take the time editing parts of videos while going through this whole tutorial for people like you who do not know how to follow written instructions is time consuming. You may be slow when you type and answer comments, but I think on my toes and can reply pretty quick asshole. The whole new bootrom issue just came up after the new iOS came out

I watched the video about how to bypass the iTunes error, and saw that you have your SHSH blobs on file.. So basically this means we need the 3.1.2 SHSH blobs on file before we can do this right? And does your iPhone have the old or new bootrom? (when jailbroken with blackra1n, if you needed blackra1n to reboot, that's newer bootrom, if you could just turn it off and back on like normal, that's old) hope I get those questions cleared up! @goombaacez84 I should have explained further based on bypassing the itunes error. When you edit the hosts file and restore with itunes this bypasses apples server and goes to sauriks server which has your SHSH blobs saved. Now people should have done this by 3.0 not even at 3.1 or 3.1.2 so you did not need the 3.1.2 SHSH blobs. My bootrom is the old one...to check that just download forecast and see if it says untethered or not if yes its old bootrom. Blackra1n bypasses 1015 error hacktivation

@xGEARSxOFxWARxFANx yeah so if you updated to the new iOS 4.0 you can not do this because it updates your bootrom. This is going from 3.1.3 down to 3.1.2 and jailbreak that then you can install the custom IPSW you created from the 4.0 GM...which is not the actual retail version.

@xGEARSxOFxWARxFANx If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS with the OLD BOOTROM and you DID NOT use Spirit to jailbreak then you can create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.01 and restore with your jailbroken recovery mode.

If you have an iPhone 3GS with the NEW BOOTROM this is NOT supported by PwnageTool 4.01 ----directly from dev team so you can use the new iOS 4.0 but its really the same as the 4.0 GM just be sure to create the CUSTOM ipsw for the new iOS 4.0

Even though the dev team well actually planetbeing jailbroke the iphone 4 which should work for the 3GS wont be released. Your gonna have to wait like everyone else. This is because of your updated bootrom so sorry your shit out of luck. If you cant get multi tasking to work try restoring once again and see run a couple apps then double click the home button to see if they show up.

@missmaha2106My thoughts are you should follow the dev team blog, and from reading that you can only jailbreak the 3gs on 4.0 now with an old bootrom. Considering that you just accidently restored it to 4.0 your gonna have to wait just like everyone else who did that for the jailbreak to be released....follow iphone_dev on twitter and also musclenerd.

MC model is ID and with this ID you can know witch carrier your phone is locked either that or MC model means ipod touch....you can downgrade from 4.0 to 3.1.3 and then from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2.....and if you want to upgrade to 4.0 just go press update from itunes when you connect your device to your computer.

@lafemmme Sorry the only way to do that is to create a new custom IPSW from pwnage tool that has no custom boot logo. I actually used an actual picture which was really awesome, but yeah im sorry there is no way to change it back without making a new custom ipsw and restoring once again. :(

@elinackerman So you updated to the new 4.0 software? If so I have not tried considering maybe if you downgrade to 3.1.2 and jailbreak then follow the instructions to install the 4.0 GM jailbroken that may work. I just can't say yes it works without even trying it myself lol sorry.

@guterbol Well the jailbreak for the iOS 4 is not released yet. This is the GM version which is manufactures version so its pretty much the final and exactly the same as the one released from apple. If you want a snappier OS and multitasking yeah I would do this but remember to not update to the apples final 4.0 or if you want just wait till dev team releases the jailbreak for the final 4.0 :), but all in all 4.0 is a great upgrade.

Did it :P basically you need your shsh blobs on file for 3.1.2 if you ain't got them you then downgrade to 3.1.2 you get errored in itunes then you run blackra1n to jailbreak 3.1.2 (official carriers won't activate dw you can do this later) then go to itunes alt + restore select the custom firmware bundle and let it run and then it's jailbroken on the iPhone 4.0 (Remember when making a custom package to click expert and tick activate or not activate depending on your carrier) Done :)

I went from 3.1.3 to 4.0 after that i read some guides that suggested going from 3.1.3 so i downgraded and got the recovery loop constantly, iRecovery sorted it and i went down to 3.1.2. I followed the guides and made the custom ipsw, it loaded successfully however there was no cydia icon. I followed another guide on gsm hosting and went from 4.0 to 4.0 custom again.

You might have to re install the pwned ipsw and if it does not show up again then if you want you can try my pwned ipsw to see if that works.
