  • Was "I love you" used in a movie? If so, what movie is this? There's a clip on Youtube of "I love you" stereo version being played in a movie scene

  • @shulamit1991 It was not used in the film, just seems that the user wanted to combine the song with the scene (I love that video by the way). The clip is from the 1970 film Hoffman starring Peter Sellers and Sinead Cusack.

  • Great original song although the version sung by 'People' sounds more 'psychedelic'. Anyway, both versions of this song are very rarely played on mainstream FM Oldies stations nowadays!

  • Thanks fo uploading this Great Oldies song from the 60's. Heard this on the Merle Hay Mall (Des Moines) background music today. I remembered this catchy song, but couldn't remember the group or title. Did a search on the repeated "I Love You" lyrics and found out the Zombies had this 1965 hit. And YouTube had a few uploads of it. Liked your upload the best.

  • The accoustic guitar and electric piano playing in unison sounds fantastic. I actually like both versions of "I Love You"... The Zombies version and Peoples version !

  • My God....I remember a local band from Maine..."The Reasons Why" made a 45 of this back in the 60's THEN! you were "Famous" for having a 45 record out....LOL! Remember the "Pal Hops!" "Battle of The Bands!" Now Im dating myself....OUCH!

  • What deep lyrics!! xD

  • Thanx for You Tube. The kids are rediscovering one of the greatest yet ignored bands of the '60's.

  • I’d like to take this opportunity to mention Justin Bieber. Thank you.

  • SONG OF THE PEOPLE ¬¬

  • The People version is better, but this is ok.

  • 7 idiots without a clue to what shaped rock and roll history clicked the "dislike" button on this video.

  • AND I DONT KNOW WHAAAAAT TO SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!

  • People's version WAS better, which is why it got so much airplay. I wasn't even aware of the Zombies version until some 30 years later. Same with "Every Little Thing" by Yes. Knew the Beatles had written it, but did not hear their version until 20 years after the fact. Or "It's For You" by Three Dog Night. Wasn't even aware that the Beatles had recorded it until much later...

  • 7 Aliens got stranded and made it here.

  • WTF? Does every '60s band have a Bill Gates clone?!

Musta been so nerds and geeks would come listen to 'em!! Ha!

  • @SkidRowJosephine Ummm, Bill Gates was 10 years old in 65, nobody had a clue who he was...

  • @SkidRowJosephine I always notice that too. There's gotta be one Austin Powers dorkus with glasses in the band.

  • @misterdirtyknees In those days ( late 50's thru mid 60's ) it was considered very cool to wear black rim glasses, thanks to Buddy Holly. Give them a break.., there were no designer frames back them !

  • @Rster462 Yeah, I know. I'm a guitar playing dorkus with glasses.

  • Whoa....first time I ever hear of these guys... and Oh my gosh...They're so good!!!<3

  • The People version did make the top 10 in different areas of the country. i don't remember the Zombies version getting air play

  • teach me how to dougie fuck suk @whoevea

  • I LOVE THE ZOMBIES!!!!

    HAPPY VALINTINES DAY!!!

  • edqD

  • This is NOT a hippie era song! British Invasion!

It's amazing how shallow distributors and even DJs can kill a group. The Zombies

could've been 10x more successful in the U.S. if they had pushed "I Love You".

It could've filled the gap after "Tell Her No" and they would've been known as

more than a 2-song act. As it happened, the one hit wonder group "The People"

turned the concise little pop song into a into a psychedelic "epic".

  • 1:17 Zombie Heaven !! Isn't that a contrdiction in terms?

I thought zombies don't go to heaven.....stuck in the streets and shopping malls.

  • Colin Blunstone & the Zombies!!!

  • I like this classical love song from the 60's, it's so powerful and inspirational.

  • Very well done! I love the sequence of album covers and psychedelia. I think that it is telling how persistent this group has become over time. Back in the day, they were just one of many, or so it seemed, and they have truly risen to the top echelons.

  • すばらしい。

  • ESTE TEMA EN ESPAÑOL (TE QUIERO) FUE UN EXITO DEL GRUPO MEXICANO "LAS MOSKAS"

  • I used to sing/cover this song in my band back in the 60's. We did the version recorded by "The People" Peace, Cowboy Bob Wallace

  • Gosh, I have not heard this one in years! A treasure forgotten! Thanks for posting this one!!!

  • LONG LIVE THE HIPPIES. FOR WE ARE THE TRUTH!!!

  • Good Song・・^^

  • I have the CD, "The Singles, A's and B's" by The Zombies. It took a long time to decide. It is a good choice, even though most on the CD are mono. I just love The Zombies!! So great, and touring nowadays.

  • So this was done 1965? That's why I got that impression from the version done by People (I didn't understand when I found their version came out it 1968).

  • WOW!

  • Much better than People's cover. This is going to be my favorite song for a while.

  • i was loading the dishwasher when this song came back to me. Did a long search but it was worth it. I was a little kid when this came out but always had the radio on. so glad I have found it again. Love it.

  • need you guys now in this hip hop period where I cant find anything I like, and i've tried.I just keep drifting back every time.

  • i love you i love you i love you...yes i do <3

  • These dudes rule

  • The Zombies do a much better version than People which was forced on most of The U.S. in the 60's., which leads to the inevitable question: Why? Rod Argent was a great song writer, so it is amazing the bass player (Chris White) wrote this! Also, Colin Blunstone was just a fabulous lead singer! The Zombies were a very under rated British Band! Their material holds up quite nicely to this day! ROS!

  • nice realy cool the 60 s music its so mutch better then the new

  • This song RLZ

  • This is actually the only version I like. ;-) (And the one I always think of....)

  • I'm just discovering them...great stuff!

  • @clearviewmind me too :)

  • Good stuff innit. She's not there is a real classic. Love the Byrds Tamberine Man too of the same area.

  • i just listened to it thinking i hadn't heard it before, but i know all the words already hah, they're the type of songs that i've heard a thousand times, but never knew what they were. Time of the season is my favourite zombies song, i loved the ben taylor band cover of it, until i heard the original, zombies beats it, without a doubt! :)

  • Hi'ya again...I've just heard Time of the Season!! Brilliant stuff!!! I know i've definately heard it before somewhere. I think it must have been in a film or something, years ago. Thanks for that! ;-)

  • Argent Argent Argent Argent Argent

  • Hey, please! lol

  • they have so freakin many great songs!

  • Luv the Zombies.

  • one of the zombies' best!

  • i love 60's music i hate EMO music ang baduy

  • i like the zombies b/c they did not become dirty hippies in the 60's.

  • Dirty hippies? My sister was a hippie and she was anything but dirty. She seen Jimi Hendrix at Pirates World in 1967 when he opened for the Monkees. She was at the Diner Key Auditorium in 1969 at the infamous Doors concert in Miami when Jim Morrison was arrested. Being a hippie in the 60s allowed her be there for these 2 historical events. And yes she went to Woodstock in 1969. Hippies were not dirty, at least not any of the hippies I knew as a kid in South Florida (Ft Lauderdale to be exact).

  • I grew up in South Western Ontario, Canada. Perhaps a 2 hour drive to Detroit. I had family in both Windsor and Detroit. And wtf? was that Am stations call letters? The one from Detroit, actually a Windsor station.

  • @MasterWitchDoctor Say Hi to her from me - I was at Isle of Wight - british equivalent of woodstock - see also "Sh'es Not There" by the zombies - I saw Hendrix, Dylan, and just about all the best US bands, but managed to miss beatles and stones - saw The Who and I'm still deaf as a post as a result lol!

  • @MasterWitchDoctor ur sis prob ate some of the best l.s.d.!!!! what a lucky lady!!!

  • @MasterWitchDoctor Sorry for interrupting, probably the California hippies in San Francisco.

  • @MasterWitchDoctor Wow...........your sister was at every possible historical event..............kinda like Forrest Gump

  • @robjg5246 lucky her huh? Forrest Gumps entire life is one long conundrum.

  • This song was covered by 'People' who had a minor hit with it the late Sixties.

But The Zombies were a great band.

Check out 'Oracle and Oddessy' LP for more proof and also listen to the single 'Leave Me Be' found on-line -- one of the sexiest songs ever recorded.

  • awesome sunny..5********** @nn☸ڿڰۣ☸ڿڰۣ☸ڿڰۣ☸ڿڰۣ☸

  • brillirant

  • The Zombies recorded it first but it never charted. People had the hit in the U.S. and Japan.

  • got it, thanks!!

  • Comment removed

  • The Zombies were the first.

  • I may be all wrong, the Zombies are the original is it, the peoples are the covered all mixed up, pse clarify

  • So the Zombies did this one as well, a very good cover!!

  • @shatinterry This song was written by Chris White the bass player for the Zombies. This is the original version.

  • thanks,!,,The Peoples had a better presentation. ..thus a world wide hit...

  • The version by People is basically the same as the original here....

  • Agree. I think mainly Larry Norman of the Peoples did a wonderful job on the singing, and the Peoples had a better promotion of their song, long & short versions etc, thus it was varstly accepted by pop fans worldwide, esp in Japan as far as I know, I've only heard of the Zombies' version not long ago on youtube...

  • The first song I heard the Zombies play live.

  • i love you i do

  • Great song.

  • i love you, The Zombies!

  • it seems to be hard to get the actual original version...

  • I love the Zombies heard their version first but I have to say The People do a great job, it's really close but I think I like The People's cover better

  • aww i love this song

  • I love when the performing Zombies lead with this song- it sets the energy and excitement of this musical moment in time.

  • nice gibson SG bass at 2:28

  • la copia es tan buena como la original

  • The People's version IS eerier. But, these guys do a good job.

  • Correction! Chris White who is the bass player of The Zombies wrote this song and they are the original singer. People's version is a cover.

  • @vincentlee3434

People's version was better known, had more air play. Not necessarily 'better'.

  • @vincentlee3434

Chris wrote a GORGEOUS song when he wrote this!

  • Hey, People is ok but it can't touch the singing. The arrangement is neat but the singing by the zombies is much much better.

  • @TheMidnightBell07 I was listening to the People's long version of this song the other day and I totally agree. The arrangement on the People's version really adds to the song. But the Zombies lead singer Colin Blunstone's vocals is outstanding and I prefer the Zombie's version because of it.This is probably my favorite of the Zombies songs, but since there are so many good ones it's really hard to choose.

  • oh , yea !

    i love you ;)

  • oh , yes !

    i love you :X

  • Rock back in the 60's was awesome indeed. ;)

  • I love-this song-you

  • i love their suits

  • People: Zombies Zombies: People

    Both are great!

  • never heard of the People. Zombies were the creators and authors...this is the only version.! grew up in the 50's and 60's and heard some great (and awful) covers of pop music. Zombies are tops.

  • It's the only version I've ever heard too. I wouldn't hear it any other way.

  • I like The People's cover better, because they make it sound eerier, which stands out and makes the song more beautiful.

  • When the Zombies perform the song now it sounds more like The People

  • i love you paula k. for you, mi best gold of love

  • This is such a pretty song. I love both their version & Peoples version. I have the 45 by People. I'd love to get this version too. The People version was the one that always got played more for some reason back then. I know Larry Norman is singing this up there in heaven. Great music.

  • does anyone know what album this is off

  • even now i love this song so much :)

  • awesome song <3

  • it's my favourite band ever <3

  • This superior version!! Other, version song deserve run by over Tank! Like stopping man, in 1989: Tienanmen Square Rioting!!!

  • <3 his voice is the best!

  • great !!!!! i love YOU !!

  • They were magical in Seattle,I am going to be at every show when theycome from now on.

Colin and Rod still at the very top of their game.

This is how Rock n Roll SHOULD sound:)

  • The Zombies were great at The Fillmore & Westhampton. Fantastic! I can't wait till they come back again!

  • I love seeing the old album covers and photos of this group. I think Blunstone and Argent should use this in the background when they perform. I never saw them in the 60s, but look forward to Sun July 13th at Westhampton Beach, LI. I hope they still have the musical magic in their melodies.

  • They are so vibrant now they don't really need a backdrop from the past- that's what so cool they are not geezers, they're cool guys now.

  • To FROSTY: where ever you are just know this song, when you sang it to me, saved my life. you know it BABY

  • they have quite a list of songs. this version is different, sort of from what's on the greatest hits cd i have.

but you see the songs...and say, 'wow! they made that song? i know that song!'

  • the zombies are on tour in the states and canada now. i have tickets to see them july 11 at the fillmore nyc and july 13 at west hampton beach performing arts center.

  • west hampton, ny?

  • Yes, West hampton beach, new york.

  • Yes, they will be at the Filmore in NYC Friday night and on LI at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center Sun July 13th at 8:30 p.m. I got a couple of tickets yesterday online. The theater was about 90% sold out.

  • saw the zombies last night. they opened with i love you. They get better every time I see them. Their show was incredible. Going again on Sunday.

  • Very good!

    I love you!!!

  • I think that this is one of the few Chris White songs that got it's just desert.

  • Great song. Give a listen to "People"'s version of this. Might be an even better version.

  • I like The People, but when you hear a recording of the current concert version by the Zombies they use some of the star power of The People, and I think it sounds better than this recording.

  • I just listened to People's version. It's the version I've been looking for -- with the short organ instrumental verse. I remember hearing theirs in the 60's. When I listened the Zombies' version in the early 90's, I knew it's a different version. People's I love you was a big hit in Hong Kong when I came out. I barely knew any English.

  • ...I mean when it came out...

  • The People had 2 versions of this song.

The longer version is the best version I've heard.

    Rest in the Lord, Larry!

  • wonderful song---they were a important influence during the "british invasion"

  • i really appreciate this video. this is my favorite band.
