I don't think just because traditions existed and practiced years before a religion makes them any more rooted in 'truth' than anything else. This teaching that We are God, is not ethical and leads to the delusion that as God, WE are free to decide what the law is. The worlds' problems already come from the fact that we have made ourselves into Gods.

The false prophets were never referred to as being 'within'. They quite literally meant being mislead by real, physical, outwardly (not within) false prophets and their teachings. I am neither led nor misled by any external teaching. My own honest appraisal of myself is my lifes work. To be made worthy of Gods companionship is my only consideration. I don't fear 'death'. The prayer in my heart is constant from morning to night.

I try to be as respectful as possible, but I believe everyone has the right to as much information as possible, and even non-Christian followers of eastern practices (particularly yoga, meditation, qigong etc) have reported negative effects (extreme cases of suicide) after practising certain disciplines. Many eastern practices are being taught in the west now by Gurus' that know very little about what they're teaching

I DO however, know a large number of christians who support the senseless murder and torture of innocent women and children in middle eastern countries...

In YOUR experience you've never heard of any problems associated with these paths. However, this path includes the practices of pranayam and mantras and kundalini arousal, there are most definitely dangers associated with these practices. @u02incw I believe Jesus was saying there is no ARTIFICIAL way to God. You cannot alter your 'vibration' to be saved by God. It is brought about in a practical way through life on earth (hence the reason we're here on earth). You're here to practice love and peace and charity with your fellow humans. Spirituality is obtained through our daily interactions with others. This is the path. Mantras and altering breathing patterns through effort is futile at best, and potentially dangerous

There are many accounts of people who come looking for God and end up finding the devil. When surgical procedures are advertised, by law they have to publish the results of risk factors involved even if only 1%, so why not here.
