  • I would love to sing this in church, does anyone know how I can just get music tracks on this song.

  • Thanks. iPhone YouTube doesn't have the options that regular YouTube has. I got your emails.

  • How do I send you my email addy privately for the tab to this?

  • @cherylrose2000 Just click on my username - guitmartiman - under the video. then right next to my profile image (picture) there's a link that says - send message. Click on that and you can send a private message from there. But I'll make it even easier. I'll send you a message and you can either reply to it or just send me an e-mail using the e-mail address I'm going to send you.

  • My Mom and a couple of friends of ours are working on this version of these two great songs! My Mom on bass, one of our friends on guitar, her sister on vocals and myself on the drums!

  • Love how you sing this Jack.

  • Hallelujah! Great job! Gay mustache, but beautiful song brother!

  • This is so beautiful. could you please send me the tab? email is: driannasi@yahoo.com

  • I absolutely love your version. You sing it with such feeling. Great job and God Bless you.

  • @godsangel2005 Glad to hear you testify! It's interesting you should say that when another commenter said my performance was flat (in terms of affect) . I think the message of the two songs combined is what creates an emotional response regardless of what anyone thinks of my performance. If you perceive that I sing it with feeling, I cannot but agree that I am also affected powerfully by the message of this rendition of these songs.

  • @guitmartiman Love the two songs sung together -- the one answering the other perfectly. Great job.

  • Love it! Thanks!

  • This sounds great please send me the guitar tab. My email is arnie_1@fuse.net

  • Heyy. Whats up uncle Jack - Its your nephew jeffrey - ( carols Kid ) how have u been ? thats cool that your so popular on youtube.

  • @tileatbest Hey, Jeffrey! How cool is this, 2 hear from you on YT? I think u may b the only 1 of my actual relatives 2 have commented on this particular video! You ask what's up? Well, mostly I make videos and post them here. That's kind of been my obsession 4 the past nearly 5 years. I've done other stuff 2, but this is really where my head (heart) is at most of the time. It's just the best way I've found 2 minister 2 people I may never have had the oppor2nity 2 meet or otherwise interact with.

  • @guitmartiman whats up uncle jack -

  • @tileatbest Hey Jeffrey! Just enjoying a pleasantly cool, but sunny day here in Tennessee. What's going on in your life these days? Hey, and while I'm @ it, what's up with your mother? I haven't heard from her in ages, and I've tried to call several times, but apparently she has a different #. If you could, please let her know I've been trying to get a hold of her, and give her my #. I'll message you my cell #. Thanks!

  • I absolutely love this! Bravo.. thank you.

  • Looking to make a Amazing grace version of this song for praise service. I play acoustic also and like you singing. Please e-mail me the tab randman07@yahoo.com.

  • House of the Rising Sun has got to be the finest song ever written. Not for its content, but for its lackthereof, for its malleability. When a person, regardless how musically inclined, hears that song, they instantly invent their own rendition, somehow improving it. Though the song has no known author, it has a thousand contributors, and for that reason it becomes less a piece of art than an outpouring of creation, an expression of whatever common bond we all share.

  • @ArtaiosW The thing about HRS is that we can all relate to it in one way or another. We all live in a house of sin and shame, and feel as if there is no escape. At best, without a Savior, we can only hope that our good deeds will outweigh our sin in the day of judgment. Some of us just live in denial, and choose do believe there will be no day of judgment, or even that there is a God. This is indeed a true folk song with no apparent original author. It is a gift given 2 us 2 express our hearts.

  • I love your version of Amazing Grace. Thanks for the great job. You're awesome.

  • @jcollects Thank you. To God be all the glory!

  • Oh My Gosh!!!!!!!!! What a beautiful mix you have done here! I'm at a loss of words, I can hardly wait to check out your other vids.

  • relegion is needed to coagulate society, especially those endowed with exuberant issues that are contravening to issues negative to society !

  • jesus has nothin ta do with music in general ! personal intestrest rules ! realism to lifes strife is dominent to appreciation , relative to situation and mood swing ! when one is moved by tone recognition, the intent has been acheived !!!!!

  • @sandhogy Wow, that's a rather authoritative statement you're making. Jesus has nothing to do with music? Really? I personally believe that melody, harmony and rhythm should support the message of a given song, and when it does, it is an effective means of communication. I also believe it's possible for a song to deliver a mixed message when the musical elements (melody, harmony, and rhythm) say something different than the lyrics.

  • @guitmartiman

Well im 46 & got saved 2 years ago, and what i understand is we are supposed to Praise The Lord in song & dance.

When i got off drugs 3 years ago i wrote a poem about fighting the devil with his own tools that i knew how to use so well

And in some kind of way ,, the way you do this song kinda reminds me of that,,,Since the song (house of rising sun), tells about sin and misery,,Then BAM, you throw Amazing Grace right in there !

Goes to show that the Lord is always if we look

  • @FIRECRACKER392 ,

    ran out of room,

But you have an awesome combo here, & I just love it,

& Thanks for sharing,, God Bless you & yours

ps. Any haters w/negative thoughts on my commments,,,dont even wast your time, You cant touch what i have,,and God Bless you too..........

  • @FIRECRACKER392 I'm glad this ministered to you! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. The thing I always liked about The House of the Rising Sun is that it never glorified sin. In fact, it's more of a warning against a sinful life-style, because sin traps you, or holds you in a vice that you can't free yourself from. God's Amazing Grace is the only answer for any of us.

  • @FIRECRACKER392 Right Track. Goin through mine right now. Swap prayers OK. Grew up on House of the Risin Sun. Played Hammond B-3 back in the 60's. Guitmartiman (thought it waz Guitarman) does a good rendition! Always thought those chord changes matched, and sang in the back of my head!

    Keep the Faith Brother

Jesus has nothing to do with music?

Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!

Shout to God with the voice of triumph!

    SING PRAISES TO GOD,SING PRAISES!

Sing praises to our KING of all the earth

    Sing praises with understanding.

Any questions? read Psalm 47:1 6-7

  • Hey I'm a follower of Jesus or at least I try, and I play a bit of guitar and the first song I learned was house of the rising sun, but your guitar version is a bit different so can you plz send the tab to my youtube account. Smile jesus loves you!

  • @NEB284 There really isn't a way for me to send tab to your YT account, but if you'll message me you e-mail address, I'll be glad to send you the tab as a jpeg file.

  • I have heard Amazing Grace to the tune, but never heard both songs together at the same time. You know what other song I also heard to this tune? Oh Little town of Bethleham

  • I really like both songs and hearing them combined reminds me that no matter what our story is or how dire our situation, His grace is all we need.

  • Just beautiful... This man plays with soul.

  • This is really cool! I thought I was the only one who did this. I usually do it with my 12-string and harmonica (Bob Dylan-style) and sometimes with a friend adding electric leads. I structure the verses different but am glad to see someone else who thought it was a good idea. Not to mention, you sing it a whole hell of alot better than I do! Nice job!

  • Something isn't right about this. It's like putting ketchup on a hotdog or kissing your sister. Hey "walmartman", check out my band's new Amazing Grace video if you want to hear this song performed correctly.

  • Great! I love your version.

I wore out a Hoyt Axton album in college playing this over, over, and over.

    It is haunting.

  • I aint a religeous person but this song i like because the house of the rising sun is 1 of my alltime classic songs cheers brother!

  • @wozg360 That's cool. I'm not really a religious person either, though I do love Jesus, and go 2 church regularly. Jesus didn't seem 2 care much 4 religious people either during His earthly ministry. I mean, I know He loved them, because He died 4 them 2, but His sternest rebukes always seemed 2 be aimed at the most religious people of His day. I think, most of all, Jesus likes honest people who know they need Him, and are willing 2 come to Him and be forgiven, and 2 be given a new heart.

  • @guitmartiman

Great Great response! And soo true!

  • @guitmartiman nice, I totally agree with you, being a Christian isn't about religion it's about your relationship with God and how you're walking with Him. What you said is the best thing to say to someone when they say they aren't religious. Two thumbs way up!

  • I love it, love it, LOVE IT!!!

  • My son, who is in prison now, would enjoy this song, I am making a CD for him to use when he gets out. His life is caught in the both sides of this song. I don't know how it will turn out for him, it's been a long struggle....I hope it's so true that our prayers are answered for those we love who are struggling..Thanks guitmartiman.

  • @ConniefromOhio While I don't think we can force God's hand by our prayers, I believe it allows Him to work in ways He wouldn't be able to otherwise. In other words, if my son does not pray for himself, God is a gentleman, and will not force Himself into the life of one who doesn't want Him, but if I intercede in his behalf, God can work in his life for my sake, in ways he wouldn't if I had not prayed. So, by all means, keep praying for your son! You may well save his life for eternity!

  • @ConniefromOhio Hi i was looking through some of the comments here and i caw yours although i have wound up in jail for a night or two i have never been in prison so i cant say or know what prison is like however speaking on behalf of my squad and for myself we are in our own kind of prison in a way we are in afghanistan we are not locked up but we have to live in constant expectation of a mortar or rocket attack not to mention ied's however i do wish the best for you and your son

  • @ConniefromOhio nd we wil certainly keep him in our prayers God bless you and your son

  • Beautiful.....

  • I like it.

  • That is a very good arrangement!!! I sure would like to see it played in a church! It has some very good connections to real life people and a Living God!

    God Bless

  • this is pretty cool

  • Interesting use of amazing grace.

  • Gotta love that common meter!!! (And singing Amazing Grace to the melody of the theme to the Gilligan's Island show is just not as cool)

  • the House of the rising sun is my favourite song and amazing grace is the one I hate most but I have to say the combo is brilliant. Completely different song I like it

    Pat

  • Yeah, sometimes I think Amazing Grace is overdone, but you're right, combining the two makes this a completely different song than either one by itself. I take no credit for it, though I don't know of anyone else who combined the two lyrics before I did. I believe it was God who inspired me to think of it.

  • I really did it because so many of my "Christian" friends objected to singing AG to the tune of HRS, because it reminded them of their sinful past or whatever. To me it just seemed like a perfectly natural marriage, and made the words to AG more poignant. So I just decided to make it even more obvious by combining the lyrics of both songs as well. I also did another version of HRS to the tune of AG and called it Tragic Grace. U ought to check it out and tell me what u think.

  • I used this song a long time ago as an excuse to play rock music at church on my guitar...works great

  • @vaibanez17 Actually, HRS was a folk song long before it became a rock song.

  • @guitmartiman I know that. It is from the 1800's. There is a wax recording from the early 1900's of a woman singing this song with slightly different lyrics.

  • Amazing Grace to the House of the Rising Sun in one of my all time favorite versions, ever since I heard the Blind Boys of Alabama do it. We have a version of it as well. I shared it with you in the video response section, I hope that you allow it to be shared with your fans/friends. Great job with this one brother.

  • good stuff friend keep up the good work

  • Thank you

  • My pleasure! God Bless.

  • I know its been said a lot, but you're seriously fucking amazing. Dude, I live my life listening to the heaviest metal you will ever know, but I still sat here mesmerized by this. Excellent stuff.

  • I'm glad, more than you'll ever know, that this song ministered to you. Thank you for the encouragement. Blessings on you!

  • wow great song

  • I hate compilation songs... but this is truely amasing! To you sir, I take my hat off!

  • Well, this particular compilation as you call it, is really more of a marriage of two entirely complementary messages, that of complete despair and the ultimate good news!

  • Absolutely beautiful

  • Just GREAT !!! 5****

  • Great job on this Mr Marti, very moving.

  • WOW!!! THANKS

  • It is 1:14AM....I find this rendition tender and gentle. What moves me is the two songs mixed together...grace is leading me Home and I am grateful.

  • Great man!! :)

  • my dad used to play house of the rising sun on his gibson when i was a lil girl, i also used to sing amazing grace solos at church when i was young as well, it was ingenius of u to combine these two pieces and as flawless as you've done. bravo!

  • Hi Kerry! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm no genius, it was a God thing.

  • This was very well done i loved it!!! Could you please send me the tabs for this, i love both songs and 2 in 1 is like heaven.

  • I don't remember if I did this. Did you send me your e-mail address?

  • glad i stumbled across this

  • this was beautiful i look forward to catching up on your many other vids,Denise

  • Amazing! Brilliant! I've enjoyed this version too much.

PS: There may be a little mistake in the lyrics. I think taylor is wrong. It's tailor.

  • Thank you for that correction! In the two and half years this has been up, you are the first one to bring this to my attention. Actually, it may be that that is what Urankar3 was trying to tell me! I'll correct it immediately!

  • Very very nice cover-10*!!!!!!woooow*Taylor?*

  • 2000 Taylor 810B to be precise. Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.

  • Great version of this song. The lead guitarist and singer in my band does this song with only the first verse of "Amazing Grace" sung at the end.

  • this is the first song i heard my father play. your version is amazing. still trying to nail the appreggios(sp) but watching sure helps

    thanks brother

  • Amazing. A very creative composition. I like the way you have intertwined in it sin and grace, despair and hope from both songs...very good, thank you for sharing!

  • Well done...I found this rendition very touching. Thanks.

  • Now this just shows a musical genius at work I have heard both songs several times in the HOTRS format but never together. The two of these songs strung together do indeed seem to tell two parts to the same story. Truly amazing you are truly blessed.

  • To God be the glory! I was just trying to think of something that would make an impression on my son's classmates when he was in Academy (high school). They invited me to perform in their talent show (not as a contestant, but as just a guest performer), and I thought putting these two songs together would be just the ticket. It seemed to work. I can't help but think it was God who gave me the thought.

  • You were used of the Lord and led by His Spirit Guitar. I'm sure you spoke to many. I wish I could have been there; I applaud your willingness to speak and sing to our generation of the Lord Jesus.

  • How could I not?

  • This is a very nice cover!

Do you have your own work? I'd like to hear some if you do!

  • Just click on one of my "Albums" on my profile (channel). I would recommend Mountain Moving, unless you're really into scripture songs, in which case I have 6 CDs to choose from.

  • Man this is amazing! I've never heard anything like that, congradulations!

  • To God be the glory!

  • Yes indeed, I'm Christian too...

  • amazing. great stuff mate, listened to it 5 times so far.

  • I'm glad it ministers to you! That's a blessing to me!

  • Awesome ! :D

  • awesome! truly enjoyed this video. God bless you

  • I'm truly blessed that you enjoyed it! I see by your profile you just joined. Welcome to You Tube!

  • You wouldn't think it would work but it does -kudos for blending the two. I like a man who does his thing and proudly so. You will be a very powerful soul on the "other side." Sinerely, Johnny Pal

  • Yeah, I was actually awe-struck by the result! It actually made both song more poignant. I have yet to receive a truly negative comment on this vid, though I'm sure it will happen eventually. In fact, the only negative reactions I receive are from some in the church who are uncomfortable with singing a hymn in the same breath with a "worldly" song, or even just the tune--sort of guilt by association. HRS doesn't glorify sin at all, but warns against the despair it brings. AG is God's remedy!

  • Nice! Great voice. Never heard the two sung together like that before, the lyrics work great together IMHO.

    Thanks for the vid

  • You're most welcome! Thanks for your comment!

  • you can also sing Oh Little Town of Bethlehem to this tune.

  • One could, but I don't think I ever would.

  • god bless you

  • Thank you! Same to you!

  • one man one guitar one voice beautiful thank you!!!

  • i want the tab for this

  • Message me your e-mail address, and I'll send it to you.

  • like it,but i watched tommy emmanuels version a few minutes before.and i think there will never be anybody who plays it better.

  • There is no comparison whatsoever between my playing and TE's! The only thing I had to offer was putting the two songs together.

  • I did this a month ago at the coffee house I grew up and hung out at for years. I accidentally figured out that I could play Amazing Grace over my favorite song (Rising Sun). Playing the two together for an audience was like cracking open my soul and letting the light shine in.

  • I know what you mean! Blessings on you!

  • this is awesome

  • wow...keep on keepin on man

  • it's so great :)

I wasn't given the chance to listen to your songs for sooo long, cause I'm overthrown with problems concerning driving license and school at the same time.

But I still think that this is one of your best songs

  • Well, apparently you're not alone, as it has more than twice as many hits as even my second most popular video!

  • is there a way i could get the tab for this version? i play for church, and i play for myself, and i would like to learn this, very well done!!!!

  • Sure! Just PM me your e-mail address and I'll be glad to send you the tab.

  • this song makes me so sad, even when i play it on guitar, i luv guitar

  • What is it about this song, do you think, that makes you sad?

  • nothing its just the tone of the song

  • Yes, it is written in a minor key, and the words to HRS alone are a rather sad story. Thank God, though, for amazing grace, or all our stories would only be sad. Don't get me wrong, I like sad songs, but I prefer ones that leave you with a sense of hope even in the midst of sadness.

  • your great and deep, this is the only song that will put my son to sleep,he is 6 days old, keep it up!!

  • LOL! I had no idea this song was an effective lullaby! Thanks for telling me! {:o)

  • who is first credited with playing AG to the tune of THOTRS?
