yea i had a 1991 8v 1.8l carb jx vitara and it woiuld do 160km/ph on the flat as long as the road were long enough. i then bought extractors and sports exhaust to replace my existing and i noticed no difference in top speed although got their a little faster... i now have a 1995 vitara jx 1.6l efi 16valve vitara and i must say it will get to 160kmph but not quite as quick as my stock 1991 vitara i am putting this down to the extra pulley for the power steering..

the vitara is a 1.6 litre, 4 cyl small 4x4. i own one, and it CANNOT do that. so THAT is WTF i'm talking about. its sluggish at best.

yes it can, mine on stock tires 1600 8valve manual trany does that, they all can if you keep them in optimal condition.

well funny i was just drivin my 96 model, vitara jxl, stock tires, 145,000 kms, and i dnt thrash it at all. its in prime condition and top speed 145. so ur wrong mate. mines 1.6 litre 16 valve (4 cyl) and its a short wheelbase. light as.
