@txellenne Hiya, It's a short piece of nickel silver rod. Brass will do just fine, too - anything you can find that works easily with a file. It has the bottom surface filed flat so that it won't roll around. Under that is a piece of rosewood and, below that, a piezo disc transducer (£1.57 for five on eBay). However, you can get Ted Crocker (tedcrockercom) to send you a pre-built one for a very good price. Any questions - just drop me a line.
Cheers Pete! Check out my next "made-it-in-60-minutes" animation... "The Builder from Hell - Episode 1". You'll recognise the old sense of humour. Daaaa!
Cheers, Gsjssss. I saw a smoking hat on the TV and had to have one, so I made this from a piece of the curtains and five minutes on the sewing machine.
Actually, I have to give a lot of credit to my dad who did a lot of the woodwork and wire on this. He also opened the Star Club with the Beatles back in Hamburg so... top man.
The blues versus jazz/funk? Interesting. Let me reach for that essential piece of music kit: "The Jazzmatic" - random lines of authentic-sounding jazz commentary at a mouseclick... (click) "Boozie Wigham's misty spirals on the tin-tip pianola injected a welcome 'New York' feel into Jingo Royale and his new-era 7-step ensemble" Ha! Match that with your "Slidin' Willie 'snakeskin' Johnson plucks the Chevie Shuffle." Maybe other readers would like to post their own abstract musical quips.
Awesome RIP

Stop playing jazz and funk on that box...it'll lose it's mojo if you suffocate it with jazz. Stick to da blooooze.
