  • what is algorithm

  • da be da sqkash povqrvax D:D:D:D

  • I find the 2 look oll much better, only need to remember 7 algorithms i think

  • two

  • no, there are 7 ish. 2 to get the cross on top, and 5 to get the last layer oriented. maybe ur thinking of like a 3-4 look pll

  • Actually thrawst, if you have just the cross and you want to get to the fish pattern, you turn the U face so that NO corners face you on either side and then you do the algorithm R U R' U R U2 R' and that should get you directly to the fish

  • WHATS THE ALGORITHIM FOR THE BAR!

  • It's the same for the L

Just do this algorithm with the bar horizontal on the top layer

    F R U R' U' F'

then you should have the cross

    Hope this helped!

  • For the L is

    F U R U' R' F'

or at least that's how i do ti

  • Really? I use f R U R' U' f' when the two oriented edges are on the UF and UR.

It's a lot easier in my opinion. :)

  • Yes, thats important, a lot faster.

It is VERY important to MIRROR the algorithms, and do them front and back, so you don't have to spend extra time turning the U face :/ or doing a cube rotation ://

  • hey thrawst when you get the cross turn it to a side so there is NO headlights facing u (in your case so that NO blue corners are on the front face) and do the fish pattern and no matter what it will give u the fish and it will be able to be solved in one more R U R' U R U2 R'

  • ok thats it. if you don't understand anything then don't leave mean comments. all you are doing is raising hell and making yourself look retarded. my point is, if you don't understand, watch another video and leave him the hell alone!

  • im still not gettin it...he goesto fast here and doesnt explain the algorithim that he doe in the beginning and what faces where.

  • That helped me a lot thanks

In the un-revised part 3 when you said had the red facing you and kept saying you must have a corner in the left there facing you didn't mention that i had to be the colour of the top one. Now i understand as this vid explains that better

  • wtf?

  • link isn't working

  • never mind

  • eum dude can ya help me im kinda stuck on part 2 dude :p

  • O-O"

    F U R UI RI FI?!

    THE HECK?!`

  • check out his part 2 video

  • that's not even finished yet... how do you finish it???

  • next video

  • yeah thanks, I thought this was the last one. =]

  • huh

  • when you have the cross on top the easiest way to get to fish is do the fish alg R U R' U R U2 R' with no yellow cubie facing you instead of putting one in the bottom left hand corner like he said just find a side with no yellow and do fish alg and you will get fish. this is all assuming you use yellow as your top.

  • SLOW DOWN!

  • Gah! I forgot the directions for the notations.. I watch the videos, but then I forget.

    I need to do this; F R U' R' U' R U R' F'

  • a new cube huh

  • umm can you please put up the algarithum for when your goin to do the like or the small l

  • slow the fuck down please. =)

  • f u r ui ri fi

  • hey thrawst...when you have the cross, instead of making the colors of the last layer face you, choose the color to the right of the pair..."y" then execute the same algorithm then it takes to straight to the fish pattern.

  • what algorithm did he use at 2:03? b/c my cube was like that one time and didnt know what to do

  • hey, can u scan those algorithms for the last layer and put the links up, plz?

  • ok see there a problem i get the fish pattern were it look like a fish but the other sides that are not upi don`t know which way there suppose 2 be when i do the thing it always come out wrong but still good tutorial though

  • haha i liked how you just threw the papers

  • you totally don't need the papers.. just get the center piece on the top, the L if you have it at the top left, OR the bar accross the middle left to right and use F R U Ri Ui Fi. works every time. do it till you get the cross. make sure you keep your reference face in the right place though.

  • yeah but the point of those "paper" is to shorten your time, that's what speedcubers want.

  • How do u change just 2 adjacent corners?

  • impossible thats called parity. it only exists in a 4x4 or 5x5

  • LOL you always say eges instead of corners, i noticed it on your other 3x3 videos

  • uh i think the algorithm to the fish pattern is R U R' U R U2 R'. then just repeat as many times as needed with that corner facing you to get to the fish. its in one of his other videos, i think its Part 4. not part 4 revised

  • How come I'm still not getting the cross. so frustrated...i've been trying to get the cross for more than an hour. what am i doing wrong?

  • too fast

  • uhhgs i stil cant get the part where u do fishy patern thing and after that

  • Its good u guys are teaching us and all but can u plz slow down? i cant keep up im totally lost and new. my homie can do it quick.

  • man im a gangsta

  • you got a new comp thwarst? i like thte back round of it

  • so do ı ıts kwl

  • Did you get new cubes

  • how do you get the L shape and the bar???????

  • In the 80's I had a book which was a much simpler way to solve the cube. This all seems way over complicated.

  • where would you be able to find these papers? because its hard to copy all og them down so could you let me know where to find them? on the internet if possible. thanks

  • look idont have only center piece, or center and corners!! i have got a 4cube square how to solve?

  • Then u have the backwards "L"....

  • i think if you flip those edges a little slower we could get it...i can intuitively get the first two layers but cant get the full yellow or bottom side.....please help

  • What is the algorithm for the cross and the L?

You said you would be happy to answer any questions...so please answers.

  • ...Watch "Rubik's Cube solved in 2 seconds (in the air!) " in the air, subcribe to our channel, I always subscribe back..thx!

  • I still don't get it

  • ditto

  • Where do u purchase one of these Rubik's cube i want to try them.

  • any toy store i bought mine at walmart

  • i think he got his from wal-mart, looks like mine anyways and is great so thats what i'm guessing. Btw thanks so much for vids.

  • Hey, thanks a bunch for your time on these videos. They've helped me from the beginning. 2 things, how long have you been 'cubing' and is that a specially made cube for tollerance?

  • Just want to say tankx ! i can solve da cube in like 2 min., but i still want to get as fast as u ,but i know tat will take a lot of practice cause u r really good!Tankx a lots.

P.S. U have really hot hands (sre i just had to say it)

  • Dude, great vids cant wait to try speedcubing, hmmm how long do u think would someone that just got started to at least finish the cube??

  • it took me 4 hours to finish the cube the 1st time, then like 30 mins the 2nd time. Then less and less after that.

  • For me i was moments away from strangling myself then i saw ur video and got it for the first time 2 hours.tanks u saved my lif liturally {LOL}how old r u ?what is the {tat u no of} youngest age a person can solve da cube???????

  • There's a little girl on YouTube 3 years old solves it in 114 secounds (I think...)

  • Holy crap !!no affense but she probally is asian cause they are like robots when it comes to rubik's cubes.

  • whats the algorythm for the bar and L?

  • continued from before... (filling up the, uh, fill.) And the site in the description changed what it showed from the sheets that you showed the camera... Please could you make a vid on how to achieve the arrow keys and/or fill them in.

  • ok im really comfused. Even more comfused than at first.

For the most part, When you solved the blue face and jumped to part 3, all of a sudden you had the first layer solved and it was in an arrow key shape like the set of arrow keys on your keyboard. If you dont have that, then you wouldnt be able to solve it. PLEASE give the algorythms for EVERY piece in the first and second layers.

  • oh hehe sorry didnt see this vid

  • I seem to get patterns like this, and logically (or so it seems to me from ur vids) there is NO WAY of getting out of it! U may also need to know that i have one of those cubes with cut edges, (so it has a top face, bottom face, and 8 edge faces, 3 verticle blocks each) because there are now 10 colours, the way it works, blocks don't necessarilly go in the same place each time. Would this be the problem? Please help if u can.

    JayDee

  • Hi! I've just watched your videos, and i can allredy do the rubix cube from them!!! it seems amazing! lol!! BUT, what happens if after getting the 1st two layers, u end up with an odd number of edge pieces.

  • If u dont have either the L or the Cross on top, you want to look for a straight line going down either horizonally or vertically. For that, you do F R U R' U' F'. If there is only a single color in the middle, you do the algorithm for the bar, then you do the algorithm for the L, which is (F U R U' R' F')

  • thrawst, you never gave us the algorithm to use if we didnt have either a cross or an L on top.

    Can you please post it?

  • um which video starts explaining the fridrich method to solve 2 layers at once

  • Do you have a spacial cube or is it that your fingers are very much trained?! i mean - how do you do it so fast? for ex: how do you hold the cube in one hand and in the same hand's finger you turn the upper layer?! you make it look so easy and so smooth.

    i'm a fan (:

  • the cube is old so it's been worn down over about a year, and yea my fingers have gotten better at turning the sides

  • 1) where do you get the algorithms guide?

    2) what's this method name?

    3) you're great

  • 1: see description

    2: Jessica Fridrich

    3: tyvm

  • disregard my last comment, umm on the chart the terms l, x, and y means

  • were did you get the partern chart? because i keep getting the one that looks like a Z

  • Can you please go a little slower next time? Thx!

  • no offence, i think your work is amazing, but dude...you need to go slower. cant keep up with you

  • this video is not for beginners. It help me out a lot cause I already know what he's talking about. you need to learn notation that he teaches in part3 "not revised".

  • ok im stuck on one part and cant find an answer, i only need acouple more colors to get the second layer, in the video in which you posted this comment he didnt explain how to get the left middle side, he only said how to get the right middle side, is it the same?

  • where do u get ur cubes and stickers?

  • cubesmith . com

if i got a dime everytime some1 asked me that i'd be very rich

  • hey i hav the second layer done....but i hav a yellow tee on top...what do i do?

  • you mean a T pattern on top?

    that's the bar...

  • ughh @.@ i cant get the last layer done 100% of the time even with the fish pattern, i dont know wich sticker is supposed 2 face me so i have 2 do the move a gillion times b4 getting last layer done, i can already solve a cube, its just that i need faster methods and jessica freidrichs is 2 complicated for me @.@

but still, this video helps, thanks Thrawst

  • i wish i had a cube that spun that fast:(

  • what website did u get those papers from

  • thanks for all the help but show ur face for once

  • He got them off of jessica fridrichs cubing page, but memorizing all those orientations isnt really necessary, the algorithims are pretty long and youd have a better chance of getting the top layer before premutation with the way thrawst does it, if you wanted your skills a little sharper, you should memorize the rest of the permutation algorithims. dig?

  • very well put thank you

  • OMG. you are amazing.

  • thrawst your amazing, where did you get those papers?

  • for the cross with one of the colors of the top layer on the right corner.. you can do.. R U' L' U R' U L U L'U L ... the inverse of that is the cross with two corners opposite of each other..

  • i like how you threw the papers around in the beginning as if to suggest 'look at this shit, confusing ain't it'

keep up the work and cheers

  • hmm..what kind of stickers are they..? cubesmith.?

  • how did you get your cube to move so smooth ?

  • He lubricated it... watch his video: "how to get faster part 2 lubrication"

  • hey thrawst i'm running into a situation. and have run into it everytime i've tried to resolve since my first solve.i have no U colored pieces that can be rolled to the left hand side of F its on the R of F so what to do.

  • Did I miss something or how come I don't know the algorithm for the cross?

  • uhm THRAWST. when you showed us the papers. are those the oll that you do? or is the the oll and pll together cuz that's pretty long... there are like shorter versions on another site. and can you make a vid on solving the f2l at the same time? cuz i want to shorten my time.

  • I don't know all the OLL how can i use it?

most of those algs on the sheets are reflections and Mirrors, PLL cases are represented differently

  • i... see... :/

  • On the little papers.

are you supposed to do the turns like, the picture being the front side?

  • thanks for the extra algorithms. now i can solve the third face much easier. which makes me solve the whole thing much quicker. thanks.

  • if you have the cross, you can do the algorithm with no top colors facing you and it will bring you to the fish, insted of the botom corner, bringing you to another shape

  • ya i just kinda found that out today while i was cubing. i never had it the other way b4.

  • i found that when the center peice is the only peice on there if u find the three edges in a row and turn the cube to the right and do fru r'u'f' then do the l algorithm it skips the entire fish pattern and solves the whole top layer but thats only when there is just the center peice on the top

  • in one case yes, theres 2 different cases where there is only a center, the only difference is how the pieces around it are oriented

  • lmao ... i love it when u throw the papers XD

  • Learn Fridrich F2L. You can solve the first and second layers at the same time, thus not needing to learn how to solve the first layer more quickly.

  • can you show us how to solve the first layer using less moves.

  • what is the point of the fish pattern? i solve mine in under 2 minutes (really fast for me seeing as its really sticky) without ever getting the fish pattern.

  • btw your cubes are amazingly smooth and loose, is that just from silicone?

  • yes from silicone, but I use petroleum jelly (oil based) - a product called vaseline, but you can probably find something equivalent in your supermarket. I've had no problems using that oil based product and it should work for you too.

  • i just use the cube lube that i got when i bought my DIY cubes

  • damn you memorize all those algorithms i only remember like 7. i have a hard time orienting the last layer.

  • can u please tell me where u got those papers at wit all of da algerithems

  • where did you print those pages from with the orientations [sp?]?

  • dude after watching the videos i can solve a cube with in under 3 mins. thank yous

  • So do you solve layer by layer? Is that the fastest way to do it, because I thought there was also a way u do it by solving a 2x2x2 then make it a 2x2x3 and go on? You're too damn fast man, I wish i was that fast. How many algorithms have u memorized?

  • no not rly, thats the Petrus, nobody (even the creator of the Method) can even use that method to solve sub-20, its way too intuitive

  • I thought Lars Petrus solved it using his method in 17 seconds or something.

Well anyway, I enjoy watching your videos, they're cool. I have a question for the algorithms that you showed on the screen, what does xi, yi, and zi stand for? Could you give a thorough explanation of that for me please? :].

Oh and it was hilarious how it seemed like you threw the algorithms away LOL.

  • Oh and I've just read about the x, y, and z thing:

    # x = Turn the whole cube in direction of R

    # y = Turn the whole cube in direction of U

    # z = Turn the whole cube in direction of F

So does xi mean you turn it the opposite direction of R? And yi means the opposite direction of U? And zi the opposite direction of F? Thanks in advance! And keep posting videos :].

  • correct, only it will be notated as x' or y'
