From my own understanding and assessment of this subject, trickle down theory does work in some situations, but not all, and trickle up theory works in many, possibly all circumstances.
Trickle down theory works if Capital is being used to create jobs, not used for consumption of commodities, because the wealthy don't spend enough, relatively, and it takes too long to spread. Trickle up works because consumption returns capital to capitalists, who can use it to trickle down by way of jobs.
If you think trickle down economic theory is just some right wing republican plot then I challenge you to listen to it explained in a language you may perhaps understand. Simply search 'jerry garcia trickle down' right here on youtube. maybe you can free your mind man.
Wow, I would sure hate to live in France or Germany. Why if I didn't fear going bankrupt from getting sick I would just become some sort of welfare queen.
Pfotenhauer makes the classic conservative ideologue's mistake: she conflates material wealth with quality of life. No matter how many times such people experience the contrary, they keep thinking they'll finally be happy of they can just get more stuff.
This year conservative John Stossel's program, 20/20, aired a feature about the country where, according to surveys, citizens were the happiest.
The country? Denmark.
The tax rate? 65%.
Things are rarely as simple as an ideologue thinks.
Nancy's ability to spin is pretty great, I have to give it to her, but underneath that smug smile and those mind-numbing talking points is a miserable woman who deeply hates herself. I would too if I were her.
socialist economic? These are tax policies. If you do not think that both parties pactice tax code manipulation to farther their own interests or social interests, you do not live in the US. As easily as people make the arguement about failed policies that Obama may wish to use to restart the economy the other side never looks at the failed Regan and Bush admins endding in the largest deficits and government bailouts. So please do not think that either side has the high ground here.
HAHA, Germany and France. Oh no, who would want to be like either of those countries. Xenophobia rears its ugly head, are you surprised it is coming from the same people that told us the african americans would kill all of us, or the Irish would kill all of us, or that marijuana drives us crazy.....
Moron, Germany and France have a standard of living 30% lower than America's and inflation and unemployment rates of over 10%. This is a direct result of their socialist economic system (what Obama wants to bring here). If you weren't a moron you'd know that. Stupid liberal.
An objective person can just compare America's average GDP growth rate, unemployment, and inflation during even Bush's Presidency to that of Europe's during the same period and see for themselves.
I know you disagree, but personal insults get you no where. They say more about your character than mine. Whose standard of living do you want to talk about, Bill Gates, or McCain's, or how about the homeless war Vet, or the kid whose parents can not afford a doctor?
Germany and France have issues, and there is no doubt that some issues are caused by regulation. However, they are not loosing jobs to foreign countries so CEO's can make more money. Just wait for the real inflation to hit.
You're a fool. Like I said, an objective person can just compare America's per-capita income, GDP growth rate, unemployment rate, and inflation rate to the EU's and see for themselves. Nancy Pfotenhauer is 100% right.
Again, personal insults? Is that what you have to resort too?
Let us start with inflation, it is about to go through the roof in the states. A few points to observe, look at the US dollar next to the Canadian, there use to be a 30 cent difference and more, now it is virtually even. The price of oil, gold, not going up, the American dollar is loosing value. Printing more money will bite you back eventually.
GDP growth, let me see that stat? Care to reveal your source?
I really don't need to reply to you anymore. The objective readers (the only ones I care about) will read my post and do their own 30 minutes of research. Their research will reveal that America (even during Bush's 8 years) has had a substantially higher average GDP growth rate, a 30% higher per-capita income, lower inflation, and lower unemployment than the EU.
The objective readers should also research how the US and the EU used to be about the same in all of these respects until the EU nations socialized their economies (what Obama wants to do) and fell behind the US.
It's one of the reasons why the Europeans like Obama so much. They get to stay socialist and drag America down with them.
Why don't you check out the international Happiness Index. A survey that was conducted in hundreds of countries. The top countries are what you would call "socialist", number one is the Netherlands.
Remember the USA Declaration of independence states "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness".
Now do you think that a country with more citizens below the poverty line or hemorrhaging jobs is free to pursue happiness?
lol@ you. You preach about "objective readers" yet spew shit about socialism. I would love to see you actually argue that point to socialist countries instead of making shit up behind the safety of your computer screen.
Making up shit? You brainless leftist rodent, instead of posting your worthless reply to my comment, you could have just gone to wikipedia, the cia world factbook, the imfs websiteetc and seen for your stupid self that western Europes inflation and unemployment are twice as high as Americas and that their per-capita incomes are 30% less than Americas. But then again, youre not an objective reader; youre a demented fanatical leftist miscreant. Facts mean nothing to demented fanatics.
You're a funny guy. No wonder one of your favorite videos is "FAT KID CHACARRON REMIX YEAH!!!" By the way, instead of using ineffective insults that make you look like a "brainless rodent" (very original, by the way, I must applaud you), I would try being "objective," as you call it, and use facts to back up argument. And LOL, you say I'm not objective and then state "facts mean nothing to demented fanatics." Hmmm...I wonder what that says about you? :)
You need to frame your statistics. Sure the top one percent's wealth increased 300%, but the 90% of the American population that only makes 10% of the GDP has not done so well. This is a problem when you look at the numbers, you fail to realize the gap in the distribution of wealth.
GDP may be up, but more people than ever are loosing their houses, more than ever before are going bankrupt because they have gotten sick.
Give the poor bitch a break. She has a very hard job of trying to make the last 7.5 years of republican rule look good. Like the rest of the repubs she has sold her soul to the devil. That said I would not mind giving the naughty vixen the spankin she deserves!!!! ARRRRR!!!!!
weakened laws didnt hurt the banking system. The federal reserve caused the artificial boom then caused the bust. so what if 1% have a lot of wealth? do you want to forcibly redistribute it? are you a socialist?
The Fed., LoL....Wake-up..... Socialist? No, a Life-Long card caring Republican, thats trying to live on social security, now, an sworn Obamacan, but was that have to do with unsecured Loaning Practices?
yes, the Fed. the fed manipulates interest rates. they print money which causes inflation. inflation is the "hidden tax" which hurts the middle class and those who live on a fixed income like yourself. unsecured lending is the result of easy credit brought by the fed.
The Fed lends Money to Banks to enable.."Over Night" cash reserves so that Banks can have enough cash on hand to conduct Daily or short term Business...
Congress...The Queen of thieves, got existing Banking laws weaken and in some cases totally removed that enabled BANKS to engage in Predatory practices and allowed them to loan money to unsecured lending institutions.
Gees I cant believe I'm trying to teach basic economics to an ass on YouTube.
haha, you're teaching ME economics? I work in finance. the fed has a target fed funds rate. when they lower that, it creates a wash of money supply. the banks have so much CHEAP money to lend which creates moral hazard/easy credit.when fed raises rates money supply diminishes and credit is tightened throughout the system.this contraction causes the busts. we dont need more regulation we need less government intervention. also, get rid over fractional reserve banking? know what that is, mr. econ?
Oh yes we see how well de-regulation works. Maybe the home loan crisis will work out in the end, it is going to have to. The problem with absolutely unregulated laissez faire economics is that it is going to destroy million and put them into grinding poverty while your free market implodes. Nice for you if you are a multi-millionaire, to bad for the rest of us.
Yes, forcibly redistribute the wealth. This was a problem for seen by the founding fathers of the USA. When a small group of people control the wealth they attain power that becomes destructive to the country itself.
Take a look at the economic situation of the USA and you can see what happens to a country when the rich steer the country to serve themselves.
Why doesn't anyone ask them if they take away the 4 billion dollar tax credit for the oil companies if that is the same thing as a windfall profits tax? What could we do with the money from that increase in tax revenue? Would McCain support that?
look at where it's been going to last few days. europe is behind in the economic slowdown. as a european recession becomes more likely the euro will fall even more
ok, everything she is saying is bull shit. With Trickle Down Economics we have more unemployment, a lower standard of living, and so on. At the end of the day we cant keep going down this path. Trickle Up Economics works, you get the poor people working and they become middle class. The math is not hard and we need to do something now if not we are really fucked
when was the last time a poor person hired someone to work? mccain wants lower corporate taxes to level the playing field with other countries. this will encourage domestic job growth
have you ever heard of a thing called small business. The owners of the business, if they have more money (paying less in taxes or not needing to pay for health care)they can put more people to work. This will get the people who are poor out of being poor and they will spend for money. That will lead small business to grow, and then they need more people and it keeps going like that. The Obama plan would help much much more then McCains will. So yea, Trickle Up works.
Obama will eliminate all capital gains taxes on start-up and small businesses to encourage innovation and job creation. Obama will also support small business owners by providing a $500 "Making Work Pay" tax credit to almost every worker in America. Self-employed small business owners pay both the employee and the employer side of the payroll tax, and this measure will reduce the burdens of this double taxation. Obama has a plan that works. Get it, now move on.
nocapital gain tax is great, but why only for small businesses? we need less central planning. how are we sure innovations will only come from small business? tax cuts across the board are good. they shouldnt favor small or large businesses. that's mccain's plan-a fair plain. to the h-care point:mccain wants to take the employer tax credit and give it to the employee in pretax dollars so they can choose their own h-care in a free market and not be limited by what their employers choose for them
The McCain h-plan will not help. The way that McCain will do it will only help people who have jobs. What about self employed like I am. Looking at both plans, Obama's helps me a lot more. Big companies don't need more tax breaks. They should pay all there taxes first before asking for more cuts. running my own company I see all the loopholes that I could take if I was making a hell of a lot of money. But I don't, so as the little guy I will get less from McCain and more from Obama.
For those of you who dislike the current system, socialist governments are also trickle down, the "rich and powerful" are in the government.

I have to disagree.
Trickle Down does work.
The very rich have been getting richer as the rest of us become poorer.
The plan works. It just wasn't the plan they said it was and most of the GOP voters who supported it were taken for suckers.
