how fast do you think this motor would push a 10 foot jonboat with a 100 pound kid in it. comments would be greatly a appreactied (think i spelled that right lol)
@Y0B0YCHRIS Well, I go 12 with my 4hp in a 12', so a 10' with only 100 pounds would probably go in excess of 15 or maybe even 20mph. You'll also go faster if you evenly distribute the weight in the boat. That would mean you leaning toward the front.
It's a 1982 and I always measure the speed with GPS. + I can only go that fast if I crawl to the front of the boat to make it straight instead of bow up.
I love Johnson outboards. I used to have a Sea Horse and it never let me down. I just hate the expensive price, Ha ha-ha! Thumbs up...

I have the exact same motor, I only weigh 150 lbs, I have an 80lb 10' jon boat, it only runs 7 miles an hour with just me, 4mph with a passenger.

@jooleyen no way. 7 tops. You need an older 4hp to get 10+mph. 1960s model...
