This was legendary. I watched it live, I was 7 years old. I was the mascot at the St Mirren v Celtic game at Love Street that year. Ah footy was amazing back then.
i was only 9 and found it a wee bit hard to see over the people in front of me, but i did see the goal. It was a really friendly final, with lots of supporters mixed together.
those games between dundee united and saint mirren in the 80's were some of the best football ive ever seen. Both teams had a real attacking philosophy and it was a joy to watch the likes of sturrock and peter weir weave magic.
I was at this game like i am most other weeks however i have fond memories of that day getting squashed against the fence when fergie scored ... The achievements have been few although worth the wait.
I remember my dad telling me about the game as a grew up with the paisley team....Telling me how good the team played back then....Being only 15 years old i wish i can see the day where i get to see my team win the Scottish cup again so i can feel the experience of watching your team win a proper cup rather than the bells cup or the first division league
It was not such a a great game - but clearly your team had something- and thats what marks a a true fan of your team and of football in general - I too remember following my team and thsat feeling of connection - it was great!
My first ever St Mirren game. Got a DVD of the game in full, was quite a good game when I look back at it. Over 40,000 St Mirren fans at that game. 20 years later, where have they gone?
As you can see I was at the game too! It is hard to imagine 40,000 for any team at our Cup Final - apart from Celtic or Rangers. They tend to take finals for granted and for other teams its a real big event.
Yeah too right. I watched a run up to it and it kept on saying that it wasn't exactly the dream final, this and that. Only the 'football geniuses' of Glasgow would call it a dream cup final if it involved the old firm. Mind you, it's more common to see a rangers or celtic fan living in Dundee or Paisley these days. Just shows that most of the Scottish football fans resort to the low gloryseeking ways.
As male fans are we gay because we spend a Saturday watching other men rather than spending that time with a wife or girlfriend? Why do we jump up and down when our team score? Does that make us gay?
Afterall is a song about George Best a gay song?
Does it make the singer of that song gay?
Football has a passion - a different sort of passion!
Why does it say next to this video that they faced 2 scottish cup finals in a few days? What total bollocks. Two legs of a Uefa final and a scottissh cup.
i saw my username on the description ..the bad victory

how can a goal be ruled offside when a defender is on the line?

Still can't believe Fergies goal was disallowed. Gallagher interfering with play? yeah lying flat on his face in the goal...
Anyway, I'm not bitter! lol

Hurry up and post up the 'proper' goal!
pmonag12 4 years ago
I do not have the proper goal but I have uploaded "The Paisley View" of that Final. It was only a home movie not the BBC!
negba 4 years ago
Team in orange scores but is offside - hence the hurt. White team score soon after and win the cup - hence the pain!
negba 4 years ago
Am I missing something here. Team in orange score goal and win 1-0 yes? So why does team in white celebrate? Do they change shirts or something?????

In any case it is a female that sings the song!

That was a typo!

could someone post up the winning goal?
pmonag12 4 years ago
ah ha :)
viron2112 4 years ago
It is a celebration of the team and supporters rather than a record of the final.
negba 4 years ago
not in the video apparently.
There was one bit of us when we scored, so its worth keeping hold of, but very oddly one sided pal.
viron2112 4 years ago
I will put the rest on soon...
