I see his aunt uploaded this. You must be very proud! When this aired I mentioned it to a friend who works with a little autistic boy and is passionate about the cause. She was thrilled. I said that while it was heartwarming, it seemed a shame to get his hopes up when he couldn't win a competition like this. She said that what was important was that it exposed America to what children like David deal with. And I think she made a good point indeed. Plus he's cute as a button!!

Let me tell you a story. I was born with ataxic cerebral palsy and hands that might never work. At age 5 my parents enrolled me in piano lessons and I was competing within a year. But you know what? I won HONORABLE MENTIONS. No one with a brain deserves to be showered with praise for a mediocre performance. I practiced EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE to get better, and in my teens I was winning first place. Success at an art takes DISCIPLINE. Not cushioning. Cushioning leads to failure later on.

This is for Davids parents and aunt! Please look into this about gluten protein - it is not difficult to be on such a diet, just have to make some foods from basic, og buy glutenfree bread - and keep him away from milk. This will really improve his life!

David's almost the same age as our youngest daughter with autism, who's just learning to sing. But he did the same as our oldest daughter with autism. She sang before she could speak. I think it's a beautiful gift from God. And your cute little nephew has wonderful tone and pitch. He's got a pure voice unlike so many kids that are on stage these days. I was bawling right along with his mom. I can't wait to hear him again!
