  • THAT is what Rock & Roll is.. Love, Respect, Passion, Heart ANNND Fun.. Leave it to the Boss to bring this all together.. My biggest influence as a musician and a person... Hey, Thanks Boss!

  • Looked like great fun....love him!!

  • I don't care about the quality of this video; I was one of the lucky ones inside Carnegie Hall that night. Bruce wasn't even supposed to be there. It's an annual benefit that raises money for music education for NYC kids and they honor a different artist every year. At the end of the night, Bruce came out and played Rosalita himself, then he was joined by the rest of the participants. Marah & The Hold Steady stole the show. Ronnie Spector was WAY too drunk & kinda pathetic. What a night!

  • Josh Ritter is up there hes the bst new artist in folk/rock. He does a great version of the River too.

  • I can get the notes just by ear

  • Yea that is Steve Earle at 5:56 that walks us... and CRAIG FINN ROCKS!!!

  • is steve earle there?

  • God Bless Craig Finn. His genuine happiness and excitement up there makes this video for me.

  • bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce

  • in the beggining the guy in black with the mop top next to bruce is Josh Ritter.

  • THAT was cool ! Cheers to Bruce for attending, participating and letting those guys perform one of his greatest songs !

By the way, who was this group that put on the tribute ? Who were the people on stage with Bruce ?

  • that song is the reason I became a Springsteen fan. Bar in DC used to play it at closing time. Long live the boss

  • very very fun .. jajaja thank's Rosalita...

  • TREMENDOUS FUN! ...wish I was there

  • Craig Finn is the next BOSS

  • Wow, Bruce's hand never changes chords here, that's amazing. I gonna learn to play this one. Stay tuned. Great five stars.

  • Just heard Craig Finn of Hold Steady talk about this clip today on E Street Radio. Great stuff. He is a huge Bruce fan and his setlist and the descriptions thereof were remarkable. Bruce Fans: Check out the Hold Steady!

  • Absolutely. I was at this Carnegie show. The Hold Steady sold me. Their version of ATLANTIC CITY was amazing. It built up the entire song and exploded at the end. I wish there was a clip on youtube somewhere of it!! :)

  • this there any chance that has made it online because it sound amazing

  • mechpope13: Haven't seen a version of The Hold Steady's Atlantic City. I'd do anything for it, and will definitely link to it on my channel if it comes up... Good luck!

  • The Hold Steady will be doing their Version of Atlantic City for the War Child Benefit album. If you google it I'm sure you'd find it.

  • It's awesome.

  • this is wonderful in a quirky way...it helps that it is the greatest song ever put to vinyl

  • wow, ha ha, that was the most Chaotic Springsteen clip I've ever seen!

    that was great

I've wanted to see the Juliana and Odetta clips from this show for a year now, still hope to.

    this was Wild

    thanks for posting!

  • I was at that show also and it was AWESOME!!. And to top it all off I met Bruce after the show upstairs in carnegie hall. Have a pictures with him. He was always my hero and meeting him was a dream come true. Thanks for posting!!! I got to relive one of the best days of my life!!! (check out the version of "one step up " by the low stars. it was spectacular.

  • Was at this show as well, and I agree with all of MattK3222's comments. Odetta and Steve Earle were great as well, but having Patti Smith show up as a late addition...awesome!

One of the best shows I've ever seen, and I'm not really a Bruce guy. Hard to tell from the video, but the crowd was really into it. Great ending to a great show.

  • I was at this show and it was sick!! Seeing other artists cover his music and then have him close the show with an unannounced visit was great. Personal highlights were Badly Drawn Boy, The Hold Steady and of course Patti Smith singing Because the Night.

  • This is by FAR my favorite Bruce clip EVER. How can you not feel anything watching this, anyone who loves Bruce live can relate to everyone on that stage-just wish we were one of them...

  • WOW I wish I was there- THAT WAS MY BIRTHDAY!

I've been a BRUCE fan since the mid 70's and hope before I die I will have the pleasure of singing with Bruce!-we all have dreams...

  • Thanks for posting, but the guy behnind Bruce looks like he came out of central casting for the Sopranos (the guy with the black suit and pompadour).

  • guess you had to be there :)

  • God bless whoever filmed this.

  • gotta love some rosalita.....

  • Awesome seeing Craig Finn up there!

  • I'm sorry. I love Bruce. But this IS lame. All of these poeple up there that just look goofy clapping along. How forced and pointless. And it looks like some of those Mafia-looking guys are clapping out of time. How could anyone be genuinely excited about this? Ugh.

  • You obviously aren't familiar with The Hold Steady if you don't think someone could be that genuinely excited to be on stage with Bruce.

  • courn: You misunderstood my comment. Here is what I meant: I meant, how could anyone be excited about watching this as an audience member? Yeah, it's clear that the people onstage with Bruce are excited. Overall though, it's just really really lame. You can't convince me otherwise. These people look completely goofy.

  • Thank god for music, videotape and youtube.

  • WHAT Bruce Springsteen tribute show??? Man, how do you keep up with all this?... Whaaow. Rosalita...Springsteen's hitting near 60 now--is that right?-- and yet he's still got the smile of a teenager. BRUUUCE! K, I'm done. :) Thanx for sharing.

  • LAME

  • I hate all these people so much. HATE ALL OF YOU!!!!!

Because I am soooooooo jeolous!!!!! so so so so

jeolous. Need more wine to deal with this

  • jealous of fun lucylab1?

  • just plain sucks, and the video too

  • The band nailed this one. Someone told me it was the rhythm section from ollabelle.

  • this is like a dive jersey bar with no talents singing the first two verses...Malin is the MAN though

  • no talents....craig finn is an incredible musician. you probably have just only hear of Malin so he is the best in your mind. dig a little deeper before you mouth your lame ass opinion.

  • What? Speak slowly. In English. So I might undestanda you a*!

  • I believe Jesse Malin took a verse. His solo stuff is totally worthwhile. I'm not familiar with D Generation, but I've eagerly bought all his solo stuff.

  • please make them stop

  • Springsteen's a transcendent musician. All his stuff- from the raunchy to the socially conscious-is great.

For me, what he's about first is shaking ass and having fun.

  • Was that Peter Hess? Wow, awesome Sax!

  • Man, that looks fun!

  • Now THAT"S how that song was meant to be done: A complete celebration bordering on chaos.

Kinda like he did it way back when.

  • Bill "Falafel" O'Reilly from Fox News got his nickname from the sexual harassment lawsuit in which he told his producer he wanted to put his "Falafel" in her!!!

  • sorry you feel that way. obviously you dont get the idea.

  • this is great, it looks like craig finn is living a life long dream to play with springsteen. its nice to see such excitement.

  • badly drawn boy is a huge geek and he needs a new look desperately

  • That's great. I love that these great artists appreciate Bruce so much.

  • hey are there enough people on that stage?

  • Too many onstage. Don't recognize anyone!

  • 1st verse: Craig Fin from The Hold Steady

2nd verse: Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy

To Bruce's right tall dude with frizzy hair is Josh Ritter

Behind Bruce's right shoulder for greater part of the video is a balding dude: Steve Earl

Female with shades is Ronnie Spector

  • man, tributes are always so embarrassing for all involved

  • I'm impressed you got this up so quick! I was at the show and this video doesn't do it justice. AMAZING concert. Hold Steady totally rocked. What else did you capture???

  • how awesome! the boss sounds better than ever. elysian fields did a great job backing him up too! man, they can do any thing.

  • I think the back-up band was 3 guys from Ollabelle and Oren Bloedow and Ed Pastorini from EF. Peter Hess on sax.

  • Wow...what an exciting video...and it's nice to see the fresh-faced, fantastic, gifted singer-songwrite, Josh Ritter, up there with The Boss. Thanks!

  • If you have the Hold Steady perf. of "Atlantic City," can you post that? I thought their cover was great.

  • hold steady was great, try to get a post up there

  • sorry, wish i had filmed them. they were great. the vids take up so much room on the card & i didnt know how much bruce would be playing.

  • hooray for badly drawn boy and bruce together!!!!

  • Great vid. :) It's good to see Bruce on stage with so many people lol.

  • Brilliant Mayhem!!! It looks like Hold Steady singer may be a Springsteen fan.

  • that's not francis, that's steve earle

  • ... and there's Malin, too, and Adam G (from Marah AND Bloodline) with the black cap on. Hey, Adam - first time I ever saw you without either a guitar or a bottle of beer in your hand, man!!

  • I see Bruce, the Barber (Marah's Kirk Henderson) and Badly Drawn Boy up there... and isn't that Francis Ford Coppola in the second row? Great clip, Mr Rring, thanks a lot for posting this for those of us who would have loved to be there but were stuck on the wrong side of the Atlantic last night...

  • The highlight from a wonderful show honoring the work of the best writer and performer in rock history (and raising over $150,000 for music education programs) What was the most enjoyable part of the evening was seeing Bruce playing with some of his friends-in particular Craig Finn of "The Hold Steady". I believe Bruce and Craig had just met so what a thrill this must have been for Craig-and the Hold Stready delivered with a searing version of "Atlantic City".
