Fantastic game!!!!! One of my favorites of all time.....but wait a second....you meant to tell me I gave up on trying to beat the game on the last level!!!!! I remember trying so hard to beat it and never doing it....then again the ending is fairly unclimatic...maybe I did beat it and don't remember....I definitely played that last level.  Did I have to have all the dolls???? Maybe that was the problem.

The whole "collect all the dolls" concept brought to the game a far more frustrating experience than was first perceived. There were times where you realised you must have missed a doll and the only way to get it was to die. But sometimes you had already gone past that part of the level. So basically it was "game over" if you wanted to get to the secret Area.

i went through in a perfect run getting all the stuff and i heard if you get everything there might even be a alternativ ending. havent seen it happening yet.

Wasn't there a level with falling rocks that you had to avoid and the sky was flashing? This was definately the hardest part of the game. The other levels are all just vaiations on the same theme. Am I going mad or does this level exist?

Yes it does exist. The sky goes red, and rocks shoot from the background. They can be killed with a hatchet, but I think it's better to run forward and dodge them.

I actually played the level with the lion at the end. I have NO idea how I got there, but the levels were hard as hell. They were at least ten times harder than the second to last levels, but the lionboss still was easy to beat. I'd like to see a video about that level.

I never quite understood why the King felt the need to strip down to his underpants during the boss levels which took place up in the clouds. And why the change in boss music?

Areas 8 and 9 are shown in the video, although there is a secret Area 10 containing four really hard extra levels which you can only access by collecting all 36 dolls. Notice that the King flies away with another weird moustached cat-type head at the end of Area 9.

This game was rather weird, but good fun though!

This game was seriously hard. On the master system I completed very few games. I didn't complete Alex Kidd and the Ninja until I was like in my late teens which would of been in '98.

I remember watching my older bro play this as i was a little young but it brings back good memories. Love the music from the first level. By the way, i remember it being important but why did you have to collect those little doll things and how did you ever find that one in the boulder near the end. Even if it was by accident, the levels are so big and alike, how would you ever remember which one it was under.Legend.

The best way of figuring out which boulder is a doll is to toss axes at the rocks. If the axe goes trough it, there's a doll in it.

As for why you want to collect the dolls, you get an extra area to play. One of the extra stages is really hard however.

You know, it's funny, a couple of hours after I posted that response, my cousin told me that he just got Wonder Boy for his Nintendo Wii system. I'm assuming it's the same 1980's game that this video is showing, since Nintendo and Sega are now partners and the Wii has been releasing revamped versions of older games for a while now. Perhaps it would be easier for you to find a Nintendo Wii and buy Wonder Boy through that. It would basically be the same thing, I believe.

Well you could try and get a Mega drive/Genesis(if you don't have one) and get the power base converter which allows you to play Master System/Mark 3 carts on the Mega Drive/Genesis.

That Gameboy title isn't Wonderboy, but the series which is very similar to Wonderboy called Adventure Island. Made by the same people who did Wonderboy, just a sprite change to Higgins. Westone couldn't put the WB sprite in a Nintendo product, so they changed the sprite and little else. If you want a game similar to Wonderboy which you see here, look for the Nintendo NES game Adventure Island.

Uploader, you are missing a few levels, one is very original from the rest of the levels. The one im talking about is when you come out of the daylight-forest and the sky flashes a bunch of colors and oval rocks come flying down at you until the end of the level. I don't see that on your video.

Yes, there are normally 9 Territories with 4 levels each. If you get every doll on those 36 levels you get to play additional 4 levels.

first awesome skills... and yes there were levels i played in sms with green hills i remember and some other levels.. though i played the bonus stuff up in the sky his game is far superior nad skills congrats i never had enough courage to do the cloud stuff and so on with the skateboard lol.. but i dont think i got all dolls on the ground so i think you got more levels for not getting all dolls and the dolls in the sky were i think only for those like me who didnt collect them on the ground

I had this game on the SMS. To truly beat it you had to collect ALL the dolls from the bonus levels. Doing so would open up the FINAL levels of the game.

It was the Grim Reaper. The music would slow down and he would follow you, depleting your vitality at a faster rate than normal. The only two ways to lose him was to either die or reach the goal. Very annoying!

there is a round 10 on the sms version if you collect all the dolls, I never beat it though because round 10 level 2 was crazy,if you died there were very few eggs
