  • nice! i have a red 93 5.0 lx 5 speed i am goin to make a 93 cobra clone out of with a low compression forged 306, the key is tho i want it to sound and appear stock.i plan to use a stock 5.0 mustang HO cam, iron gt40 heads(so they can be painted) cobra intake and a turbo kit but hidden low in the engine compartment. a aod trans (appear like a clutch from the interior) with a 3500rpm stall, 4.30 rear gears. i have seen stock 5.0 with turbo make 450rwhp and 550rwtq so that should go 11s on radials

  • @BLACKLACDTS for sure bro, I go 11's on my 89 with a factory longblock and a beefy suspension, it is easier than you think, read MM&FF's article about stock Foxes in the 11's, they took a 5 speed stock lx notch and put it in the high elevens without doing much more than taking things off of it and adding good suspension, I've seen 450-500 hp cars running 10's with weight loss and good suspension, good luck and godspeed my friend.

  • @BLACKLACDTS one more thing, call Edgeracing, they make custom stalls for you, mine is a monster, drives like a stock car when cruising, can't even tel I have a stall, but when I smash the gas it flashes to 3300 rpm and absolutly romps bro. cost me about 400 but well worth it, has a good warranty and the guy there talks to you personally, also beef up the AOD because my stock one lasted about two weeks after my Vortech install.

  • the car is awesome.. but if you cant here the up and down on the rpm then you deaf... : )... i had the same problem when i had my car supercharged long time ago.. problem with the idle jumping around got fixed when i put a chip and tuned it...

  • Vortech is a centrifugal supercharger. KB is roots type. Not the same kind at all.

Ford changed the body panels from 1987-1993 and it is still a Fox. differant looking car, but still the same. have you never been inside a 1999-2004? the interior looks the same as 1994-1998. why? ITS THE SAME CAR! you can strip down both generations to the frame and you can switch every part and body panel and it will all fit!

  • @xmodrock I liked my vortech, it wasnt bad at all... I have also heard good things about a Kenne Bell too... Plus with the KB you'll get boost a bit quicker due to it being twin screw type vs vortech centrifugal

  • @ohyes247 You must not have much understanding about power adders... With a supercharger you need a belt that is driven off the crankshaft therefore robbing some power from your car... Kind of like when your driving your honda civic and you turn on the AC, you feel a slight lose in power. Now if you put a turbo on you might lose a little bit of power maybe 2% because of lack of exhaust flow but not like the 10% you'd lose from the blower

  • The X3Z is a tough one to tune so one shouldn't expect anything but what the car does in this video. It will be a runner once you get the new mill going, just make sure it's got an a9l or a9p in there if you are not going stand alone. Plenty of tune devices (pms, tweecer, diablo, sct, etc..) out there to make it work!

  • hey, I had the same idle surge with mine. My dyno guy told me to put an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on. I went out and got one and slapped it on there and it purrs like a kitten. I highly recommend it. BTW beautiful car man. Ive always had a thing for red 93 cobras.

    If you would take the time to read my comments, you would see that it is getting a completely new motor, to slap 331's like yours in the dirt... Anyhow the idle was at 1000-1050 but whoever tuned it didn't do a very good job with the 42lb injectors & like I said before the idle air sucked... I don't know if you fix bad tunes and idle airs by just turning the idle up, but I don't want my car idling at 1500rpm and sure would not take tips from you!

  • @HoleshotKFX400 The compression is a little too hot for my liking....if you're going to run pump gas through it (I run very conservatively, hence my 600hp to the tire) . However, it will be snappy on the low end which I'm lacking w/ my combo. My comp is 8.5:1. I cryo'd all of my components prior to machining/assembly. The cam is perfect for the turbo. The 76mm gts is a very efficient hair dryer. Nice combo.

  • @HoleshotKFX400 Run a good fuel system. I'm using a weldon 2025A with seimen deka 72lb injectors. You'll want a little more injector for the hp you want to make. What are you using for a management system?

  • Sounds like like my strim with an lmaf and 42lbers. Doubtful it was a bad iac. Unless you had a cel or it was out of range, it wasm ostl ikely your tuner. To many tuners offer to tuned fox bodies and can't tune 42lbers to idle.

  • I A C.....yes I have replaced a few of those...sometimes taking it apart carefully and cleaning it can help for a while they get carbon build up a lot

  • @SDHUMPUP No i did not cut them but i am only running them in the back, wanted it to sit up a bit more due to wanting 275/60 DR's its a 28" tire and they barely fit even so... im running coil overs up front

  • Kep telling people, don't get rid of your foxbody. Now it's to the point where you cant find one that is in good shape any more, if you do they want too much for it.

    My 25th 89 is still with me, they will put me in the ground with it.

  • Anyone know why the car idles like that? And dont say because of the cams because I've seen huge cam cars that dont idle like that. It's almost like the computer is trying hard to get it to idle and then it falls off so it picks up the idle, backs off again and the idle falls off again repeat

  • @helloman1976 He probably have a poor mass air flow like a C&L and the idle surge. I have a V1 and i just change to a PMAS and the idle is now perfect.

  • @helloman1976 Yes it does the same thing as this video, and a cam like this one too. Often the engine dies by itself. In fact the maf have a lot of turbulance and the computer can t maintain the 14.7 ratio. With a calibrated PMAS for my engine and it run like a charm. I go to the track tonignt and I will just adust AFR with the PMS cause my engine is more consistant. I hope to have a better E.T. cause the seat of the pants feeling is well better.
