@bond519 I own and manage a lumber company that has been in business for over a quarter century now. I care about my employees. I pay them good wages that they can live comfortably off of. But the wages are not the thing that hurts my business, it's paying for their health insurance. I have a plan through Bluecross set up for all of my employees who opt into it. It costs me about a half million a year to insure them. Universal healthcare would help small and large business.

Taxes will apply to the first $37,300 of earnings for each worker. An increase from .95% to 1.33%. Also, unemployment tax rates ALWAYS go up when the rate of unemployment goes up. You can't blame Obama for that, blame the corps that have shipped our manufacturing jobs to China and Indonesia. Your anger is misdirected.

@bond519 Furthermore, I am living in one of the 36 States that has a supposed increase in unemployment tax. Currently I employ 19 people, down from 32 people in 1996 (during the Clinton years). I had to lay off 12 people during Bush and 1 during Obama. I pay into an unemployment insurance, and taxes have barely increased over the last decade and a half. Furthermore, thanks to Reagan, I have to continue to pay for my ex-employees healthcare, no matter what the circumstances, under the COBRA act..

Republicans cut high income taxes, drop tariffs, erase cap and trade (the Carbon Market) and lift regulations that benefit large corporations all the damn time. I also have to abide by strict emissions laws while they are free to pollute whatever they want.

@bond519 I own and manage a lumber company that has been in business for over a quarter century now. I care about my employees. I pay them good wages that they can live comfortably off of. But the wages are not the thing that hurts my business, it's paying for their health insurance. I have a plan through Bluecross set up for all of my employees who opt into it. It costs me about a half million a year to insure them. Universal healthcare would help small and large business.

@bond519 I have done plenty of research. I have also traveled and studied abroad. I spent 6 months in France, two weeks in Spain and a little under a month in Germany. I also visit Canada on a monthly basis. All four of those countries have social healthcare. When I was studying in France, some French asshole t-boned my at an intersection. I spent two nights in a hospital in Bordeaux. It was by far the best care I've had in my life and it didn't cost me a dime.

And I'm sure you realize that the current healthcare budget was $829.5 BILLION in 2010. That is more than education, transportation, welfare and pension (social security). $457 billion of that $829.5 was for Medicare, leaving $372.5 billion from people that couldn't afford private insurance.

If you can afford private insurance, then you're free to buy from any provider of your choosing; Aetna, Premera, Conseco, etc. And for the folks who cannot afford private insurance, they'll be given a public option and an affordable price adjusted to their income.
