There were more deleted scenes that aren't on the dvd. In the well, Mikey explains that a few years ago, his parents were on the gameshow "Let's Make A Deal" but just won a huge jar of toothpicks, realizing they'd never be on easy street. After deciding not to leave the well, Mikey has Andy take the Goonie oath. They get covered in leeches but Data gets rid of them with an electrical device. There was also an extension of Data trying to fight off the Fratellis on the ship with his inventions.

@pytko3 There is also a part when they are crossing that log and data slips and mikey and mouth go to rescue him as the water rushes over them. There is a still that as well as the scene you descibed...all scene I wanna see! Boo that they cut them out

They should have left in the first scene with Mikey comparing the maps Cuz I never understood how they left the house and already knew where to go... Cut out the rest of that scene, it wasn't needed.

I always found the octopus scene hilarious. LOL! Not just cuz Stef thinks Mouth was hitting on her, but because they used a tape player to get rid of the octopus. Lol!!

in the audio comentary there was talk of a scene that involved giant gorillas and a scene where the kids had to cross a small pool of water with leeches in them and a scene were data had a inflatible suit in his coat that malfuncations. why cant we see them!!!!!!!!! dam it

@Katara7392 I was being tongue-in-cheek.  Maybe the filmmakers were going for a B-movie homage with the fake-looking octopus, I don't know, but it looks pretty bad (especially the back-and-forth eyes). The scene would have worked better, I think, with a more realistic-looking octopus. And that first deleted sequence in the corner store was just plain awful!
