when i was at the first part of this video one of the left hand half cubes broke apart and I fell to despair (again) :D damn hard to make but I won't give up. thanks for the good instructions!
Ohh myyy Gooodd!! I just finished mineee!! Wooohoooo!! Thank you soooo much!! Although mine's not to stable cuz I made it with regular paper! But I don't care, I'm gonna use tape!! Lmao! XD Thanks again and happy new year!! :D -3
@BrookesOrigami No, you cannot. Check part 1 for the size the paper needs to have (A-sized). Essentially, the ratio of the sides need to be about1 by square root of 2.
You can use coloured printer paper, which is available in many stores. Often they also carry heavier printer paper, which they usually call card. Don't choose too thick paper, though. Some paper, which is labelled as card, will be too thick to fold with.
Sorry, I won't. I'm not into that part of origami, and don't plan to look into it in the future. But I think a couple of other users on YouTube have posted videos on it.
excuse sara, but i just wanted to know what type of paper you used to make this, because when i made it, i used origami paper & it was kinda thin. when i made it with the origami paper, it had trouble staying together & it kept coming apart. do you think this is because the paper was too thin??
Ah, yes, I cut out that part of the video. So here's my tip:
Use thicker paper for the right-hand and left-hand units, and thinner paper for the hinges. If you use thicker paper, you might want to use a tool to make sharp creases (chopstick, bonefolder, some random pen, whatever), rather than destroying your thumbnail...
I used card, and normal office paper in this video.
oh, thank you! i'm going to try this again with thicker paper. you & david brill must really know each other, aren't you in the like council for an origami thing there at oxford?

puh, 3 righthand units done, 2 hours gone xD takes a lot of time -particularly cutting the paper- but it´s easier than it lookes!
i hope i´ll have enough patience to finish tomorrow :-)
peep3e 7 months ago

it works, but it is a little fragile, i think i´ll fix it with some glue inside^^

Regular copy paper should be ok to start with. I prefer using slightly stronger paper for the modules.

No, it's 1/8 of an A4 paper. Check erikdemaine(dot)org/thok/longrect(dot)html for how to change legal size paper into A size paper.
