My goodness, four minutes of soaking really softened up those reeds. We must have soaked ours for half an hour! Thanks to you I know better now. I love how your clothespins hold the corners up so well! Perfect and simple way.
I went to see a micro Bioligist friend of mine today to see if he knows of any suppliers of reed in Bulgaria and as yet he does not, so we are going to go on a hunt for one but he thinks that weaving has become an out of date trade due to plastic but plastic is not beautiful
That sounds great though. I just planted grapes last year and was hoping in another year or so i could harvest some of the vines to try my hand at weaving with them. Currently I have no experience with weaving with grape vines. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
Hi Nancy I think that the vines were maybe to dry when I started to weave them and most of them just cracked and snapped, wonder if I had soaked them for a few days the out come could have been better
Once again thank you very much for making the next instalment,
Just a few days ago I started to make a basket using the old grape vines which I cut, I did not use a base use the sides and it turned out just as I was thinking it would "very Bad" but it is the first time ever and I thing grape vine is not the best material to use but it was FUN
You are so lovely :) I'm going to have a crack at this at some stage

Do you ever use natural wheat?

@Bandit99801
I have woven with wheat and made some sweet Christmas ornaments with it, but I've never woven it into a basket.

can you use paperclips?
metalbeast7 1 year ago
@metalbeast7
No, I"m sorry but paper clips would not be strong enough. You need to use clothespins or large electrical clamps. Nancy
