I don't understand how helicopters can 'watch/aid' after an MVA, news choppers get in the way, and that looks like a standard life flight helicopter.. Paitents head goes up by pilot (behind) and two seats next to it, legs go towards back where in narrows, have to have a team to do surgery.. Not enough room there.. and the helicopter landed in the median.. not on interstate (guardrail is behind the helicopter, vehicles behind guardrail), or traffic would have been shut down. Good video though.
The helicopter that landed is a BK117 or 118 (they look the same). It does NOT have an operating room onboard. It has a compartment for the patient that is usually smaller than the back of an ambulance. The pilot doesn't just land wherever he/she wants. A landing zone is set up by on scene personnel. As the bird arrives it is standard procedure for the pilot to circle the scene to determine hazards and to ID the landing zone.
