I dunno, I feel like track 7 is more foreboding than sad. It plays when sad stuff happens, but I feel like, and felt like, something worse will happen later on down the line, and one needs the courage to overcome it.

Why is Xenogears Two of Broken Pieces not on the list? That song is one of the saddest songs ever for an rpg. ANd if you want to go with a Final Fantasy song, you left out Eyes on Me Final Fantasy 8. Loved the list and like many Majora's Mask would probably top my list xD But my nostalgia trip aside I am really happy to see that you enjoyed the FFX soundtrack but didn't like the game. I couldn't stand the game and frankly despised many aspects of it, but I thought the music was easily overlooked.

Hmmm.... i disagree the order alot and i disagree with to zanarkand. To me that song is more soothign than sad. If you wanted to include a FFX song I would have gone with into the frying pan (though thats mroe depressing than sad), Lulu's theme, or Anima's version of the hymn of the fayth. Specifically anima's is very sad sounding.

@Rowbacca Yes, you are right, but there is a theory which says that the feelings of the Deku who apparentaly died because of Skullkid's tricks remained in Link, until the Happy Mask Salesman released him with the song. For instance, when you get to normal in the first 3-day row, you can see Link waving his hand to a Deku who is dissapearing in the black. The Butler maybe never knew of this, and as a signal, only remained the sibbling of his son. Hope it helps :D

The Song of Healing from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is very sad. Overall, though, the game has a dark atmosphere. The end of the world is coming in three days, and there are many people who have problems and troubles. Overall, though, Ikana Canyon takes the cake for the saddest area in the game, just because all of the dead soldiers can't pass on because of their torment.

I'm surprised Great Grey Wolf Sif or Crossbreed Priscilla from Dark Souls aren't on here. Those are some intense and saddening tracks for such tragic figures. Both were characters that don't deserve to be killed, and while you can skip Priscilla (She even offers a way out for you to leave the painting), You have to kill Sif so you can fight the Four Kings. Sif is only protecting her master's grave and even when she starts limping, she fights on to protect her master's grave from defilement.

"Not Tomorrow" and "Tears of Pain" are missing. Both are from Silent Hill and are about the saddest VG tracks I can think of. Most of the ones in this list are poignant and some have upbeat elements, IMO.

Well, it is your opinion, but "sad" video game music for me is essentially that which evokes a sense of nostalgia. There's the Tekken 2 Kazuya music, the Tomb Raider theme, and "Dire, Dire Docks" from Mario 64. Music like that.
