Maybe give me some specifics so I know what you are talking about, and yes, I know the phaser is messed up, so I don't need to be reminded. good playing... a few things. first dont play on a plain strat. you need to have humbuckers or something with way more punch. evh's strat had a gibson humbucker in it, which is why it sounded good. two, get an mxr phase 90, dont use the crap preset on the amp. the whole thing sounds retarded with the phase on the whole time. also, make it louder. that little amp wont cut it. and last, get a better amp with better distortion.

your playing is great, you just need to fix a few things.

yeah ive got thats same amp... its a line 6 spider 3 15 watt, right? the tough thing with those amps is that to use the effects in a live setting, you have to physically move the knob with your hand. on more expensive amps it has a foot switch. so with your situation, i think you did the best you could.

Great for his age but needs to break it down in sections and learn it correctly. Also, it sounds like you're using the EVH Phaser which I myself was duped into purchasing. Ironically, worst phaser on the market for capturing Ed's early tone. Especially if it's not run through the loop of a good amp with a decent tape delay. Try throwing that thing on Ebay (or at least turn the rate down) and find a good old orange "MXR Script Phase 90". Just like Ed used on the recording & a cheap Boss Delay.
