(Fresh Priorities: Continued) So ... I am staring at my own skin. I have resolved to ALWAYS wear (non camo) "tactical" BDU-type cargo pants ... To have GREAT footwear (on me always) ... to always carry emegency thermal layer, in a DRY BAG (cap, gloves, sox, poly-unders, S.O.L. reflector blanket). To insure proper sleep, I am carrying a larger tarp (in addition to an ultra-compact Storm-Force poncho) ... It is a DD 3-meter camo tarp (or my ENO Dry-Fly). I am also carrying foam ear-plugs.
I have just begun to re-evaluate priorities, for the third time. This time, I am taking a closer look at The Rule of Threes. If it is true that one cannot live for even THREE minutes, without air, then I would re-stipulate that "One cannot live for more than 3 SECONDS, without proper attitude and morale. Extrapolating on this supposition ... I am placing more (and renewed) emphasis on "skills and training (practice) BEFORE they are needed AND I am lumping "Quality of Sleep" in with SHELTER.
I would recommend talking some kind of mess tin, or something to boil water/cook in, because that's one of the hardest things to re-create in the wild... Otherwise thanks for the vid, very useful....
you have some basics but i have seen an fire steel that insted the firesteel wet fire compartment you should get and other type thet haves an mach compartment...
I LOVE the mess kit setup I have been using the exact same setup for years now and would not change a single thing about it, Its the best $17 bucks i have ever spent.
do you actually like the kabar fighting knife for survival? i hate mine lol, wish i never bought it, i find its just not right for the woods, thats why my choice in stead of it is my GB ax
some of your items are actually sets: 1. a shelter set (pancho, stakes, cordage), 2. a water set (canteen, bandana/milbanks, purification tablets, gatorade pkts), 3. a fire set (steel and tenders). I'd suggest you make a knife set by adding ranger bands around your knife sheath (to hold needles, thread, fish hooks, line) and put some band aids and such in your multi sheath, and some tape wraps around your striker... Good job!
what kind of bealt is that?
