  • so when they fall they die?

  • Wow..., I like the moves. Too bad the clip is so short.

  • That looked fearsome: very nice!

  • Comment removed

  • this is the only actual combat footage of bagua that i have found. Im considering studying bagua but i want to view more examples of it in action, anyone have suggestions of where i can find these vids or any suggestions of a good martial art to study that involves hand striking, please dont suggest wing chun

  • @lsean - Search the name of "Maoshan"

  • @lsean I really like bagua as a style, but good teachers are rare. I would recommend any school affiliated with He Jinbao or Luo De Xiu if you want to use what you learn in actual combat. Other useful striking styles (depending on the instructor) are Baji, Pigua, Tang Lang (Praying Mantis) and Penchak Silat. And, of course, there is always western boxing.

  • @Sjnjerak

Thanks. I will look all of those up.

  • @lsean Why not ving tsun? It's a brilliant martial art, and if I hadn't sprained my knee doing it, i would still take it. Other wise, I would say, Jeet kune do, Muay thai, Sanda, or boxing.

  • I don't usually say this, but this guy is sooo much better than me.

  • Ouch, that looked painful

  • this is my sifu

  • When does he go on his world tour? Will be still be in beijing in a year?

  • Short, but pretty intense! I enjoyed this!

  • very nice borrowing

  • (I was replying to sleeping monkeys).

I really like the demo, its fast and it flows.

  • Nice sweep wish vid was cleaner.(My fav style to do)

  • One of the best Bagua demo's i've seen yet.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • This is Buagua, not Xinyi. However, both of them are internal arts and shares some similarity.

  • Guys, this is not Bagua, it's the circle stepping of Xingyi (called Pan Gen). This is Xingyi/Xinyi master Feng Zhengbao. More of him here on Youtube, like chessman71's video (this comment box wouldn't let me post the link).

  • Sorry Guy that is Bagua master Feng ZhenBao doing . BT sell me master Feng Bagua video a few years ago which was in japanese, the short clip posted above is footage from that video.

  • this is bagua in zingyi you dont go around in circles.

  • Please don't take offense, but there's too much disconnect and distance (prolonged wrist contact), so it looks like external boxing. But the last few techniques were very nice, especially sweep. Wish it were longer. Thanks for post.

  • one of the worst criticisms I've heard. These are the kind of people that keep IMA in the purely showmanship, "flowery" type movement. Bagua can be very direct, flowy, fast, changing etc. Bagua is more of a set of core principles and movement than it is a fighting style (IMO), you could slap someone..it could look like just a slap. But internally, it could be totally different. Punch someone with bagua mechanics and twisting, or even just push someone. Just because it doesn't look like bagua..

  • I don't understand what your talking about. Are you one of those people that think baguazhang is a Dim Mak like style? Its doesn't do anything to the body that a normal style doesn't. The only reason it is considered to be internal is because of the longevity aspect. Not because it hurts the Qi pathways in the body. All great master have said. One cannot project his chi into someone or something else. It is the energy inside of us that can be used for healing and prolonging of life.

  • One of the main problems is that Baguazhang is kept in a low non combat form. I agree with you, but some people aren't ready. To many people are to immature or inexperienced enough to apply it in combat. The fact is it was invented to be used in combat, but people have changed. People are to eager to use it in a fight. Its not Vale Tudo. It takes time to develop the power for baguazhang. Its not just some style. Its a life art. There's more to it than fighting.

  • No one keeps it in showmanship. They enjoy the entertaining aspect and they stick with it. I use it in 2. Combat and Life. You can't try and change peoples view on a style. Its their own ignorance that leads them to think it wont be effective in combat. You have to worry about yourself. You have to show that it can. You cant complain and try to make things seem better. It just makes you seem whiny and annoying. then they think your in it and respect it even less...

    Sincerely,

    CJA

  • I for the most part completely agree. But I think its the state of martial arts today and the lack of time and commitment we have to these lifearts that degrades them. I think at some point there really were warriors with internal skill, but they are pretty much non existent nowadays. Because we just don't live in those times anymore and fighting, in particular competitive fighting is always changing.

  • I see your point. You're also right. Internal martial artists go into a fight, but they get mauled to the ground in the first 10 seconds. Baguazhang was once a very mixed style. If the student was a wrestler there would be more ground combat. If the student was a striker then they would learn striking more so. There are still very powerful internal martial artists, but not of them know how to effectively use it in combat. I'm trying to bring that back. Traveling around, using it in combat.

  • New comers to the style always try to make it sound as if they know what they're talking about. You can always tell when they are,and it is the informed that must inform those less fortunate. So we as martial artists have a duty to correct what has been wronged in our world. Be Well. Much Luck.

    With Sincere Respect,

    CJA

  • For sure I am of similar mind. Trying to show and teach people how to apply it in the most basic of ways, and explaining the theories in the most logical way possible. It would be sick if one day someone used bagua principles in the octagon. But unfortunately an art like bagua takes a certain degree of intellect to understand realistically and spirituality to truly apply. So most brutes stick to whats easy and what works..unfortunately.

  • I agree that IMAs are more a set of principles. I've trained in 26 MAs purely for the combat aspects, and BaGua and Chen Taijiquan IMO have the most efficient principles. In this choreographed set, they disengage with no commitment to their energy, no yi. Their circles are large and too mechanical. Pardon my judgement. Peace be with you.

  • these are the 64 sparring patterns bro ment to be trained outside of free fighting to improve your all over game the great thing about these is you can do them everyday while not fighting on the street. trust me this guy is no bullshit and has the goods......

  • Damn... that's a cool clip. Thanks

  • Would it be possible to know the name of the master

in this video clip? Also, if someone could tell me

where I could find him and where I might obtain his

Bagua video's, I would be really be greatful..

  • v nice

  • Look not like wing chun, look like silly choreegraph.

    Like childs playing. Silly.

  • Go suck a cock... and learn something about grammer before you post something... idiot

  • well said mate!i second that.

  • I was kidding.

And I meant it in a good way, guy says it reminds him of wing chung, I don't think bagua is anything like it. But then again most CMA is really not that different in actual application.

  • nothing like Wing Chung.

  • he video comes from blacktaoist. www.blacktaoist.com He post the clip on the web a few years ago. It a video of his bagua master.

  • Nice move. Although I know very little about Bagua, I do notice some similarites with Wing Chung moves; palm up hand (tan sao); Wing Chun chi sao (double sticky hands) and Bagua pushing hands should be a good example. Would like to see more of this kind of video if you have them!
