Both great skaters as well, I just meant to imply that the jumps seemed to become mandatory about this time! Perhaps you mean the 1980 Jr. Championships. I was in Cinncinnati in 1979, and Elaine won the Novice title there, with Rosalyn Sumners the Jr. Champ. Seems like another Atlanta skater, Leslie Sykes, was 3rd in Novice or Jr. that year (1979)??
correcting myself, i believe roz was in novice that year, with leslie sykes, and elaine and the others in juniors......it all gets so jumbled without a program or results sheets.....best wishes
Jeri Campbell was an AMAZING spinner! And her musicality was spot on, too. Her layback spin had so much speed and centering...she was one of my fave skaters in the late 80's.
I always thought Jeri was a wonderfully gifted and muscical skater. I wanted her to progress further but it wasn't meant to be. Jeri was probably the first American woman to use the triple lutz but Denise Biellman who is more famous for her spin is the first one to do it in competition. Elizabeth Manley also used to use the jump.

I think Elaine won juniors and junior worlds in 79 and if memory serves correct Jacki Farell the silver and Lynn Smith the bronze....
