(1) It all seems to show that he is not sight reading, (2) I did not say that Robert Hill's sight reading abilities are poor: this is most unlikely, (3) I did say that this is not a difficult piece at all.
It is good to show first the harmonic progression in arpeggio chords, and only then play the piece with is fully written-out broken chords. A very stylish performance. I fail however to understand the reason for so many wrong notes, in a technically undemanding piece piece that any advanced student can play with no problem at first sight. Issues with the instrument perhaps? Robert Hill has recorded-impeccably-pieces orders of magnitude more difficult.
@Braybaroque Do you think when he recorded those incredibly difficult pieces he was sight reading? Do you think a keyboard player whose sight reading ability is poor can not be classed as an 'advanced student?' Do you think a teacher who is focused on the objective of teaching is really concerned about playing everything as accurately as possible as opposed to conveying a point concerning musicality to their pupil?
So this is what you left you family and friends in the U.S. for?..importing French music by dead composers into Germany? The least you could do is improvise a variation on the Horst Wessel lied in augmented retrograde motion at the 5th...huh?

Robert Hill is amazingly great ... I believe that the harpsichord may have been built by his brother, Keith Hill (another master).

Frankly I like some of the amateurs' playing better, more expressive.
