My father, Lee J. Bartoletti, was on Attu with 17th Inf. Reg., 7th ID. He suffered from frozen feet, which affected him the rest of his life. He passed away today, Christmas Eve. A great man, and always a proud Soldier.
The newsreel does not do justice to the ferocity of the battle. Of course it was for homefront consumption. Thanks for posting this neat video of a forgotten battle!

2.20 the soldiers in parkas are probably infantry of 1st battalion, 4th infantry regiment.

10 guys from this battle where put in my uncles unit in hawaii, on there way to the pacific island campaign

My father was there and spent time in Hawaii as well (I think recuperating from shrapnel wounds) - his name was Andrew Pietruszka (Piet).
