why? its a feeling,,,,,like a fantasy....in a story . the changing themes,,,how about the search for musical something! heheh the lost chord man! I do think that brahms etc sought the same.not just a popular tune! always something more...just around the corner. Yes>?
I like YES but I've always thought this song SUCKED! Fragmentated with a "screechy" guitar sound and sounding like they are making up the words as they go along, I like many YES tunes but this one I just don't get why people like it??
used to drop l in the woods put this on the car stereo with a old home speaker on top of th ecars roof ,roam and trip in the woods for hours and the music always led us back
I love Jon's vocals there's no one else like him! I bought Close to the Edge album in 1973 and played it over and over still never tire of it. It's like a distant dream now, but I saw Yes do this song in concert in August 1977 at the New Haven Coliseum. And then again in March 1984 at the Thomas and Mack in Las Vegas. There's nothing as heavenly as hearing Yes in concert. This is my big YES vote to let's bring back good old Prog Rock! Nothing like it exists now.
For what it's worth, I think MGMT is the closest you can get to a "modern day Yes."
The people who think of them as only a pop band are just ignorant to their music outside of their 3 radio hits. Listen to "Siberian Breaks" part 1 and 2 and "Metanoia" they are life-changing songs.
man i used to play this song over and over and over, wore out the album and then the cassette. i never heard anything like this before or since....one of a kind band. would never get signed today.
