If anything this reminds me of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 4, because of it's beginning, the way the eight notes mingle with each other, and overall elegance.
oooo i love this movement is so beautyful very romantic bachian??? hehehe!!! i love youre music dear composer!!! this movement is so special for me really!!!!!
I'm guessing it was the op. 7 sonata in Eb major you had in mind for this piece? That's pretty much what I first thought when I heard the first measure of the piece.
Very very good. To some of the comments - I myself don't care if this piece is influenced. All of us have influences, and even the great composers of the past also admitted of having them.
I suggest that you (the composer) also orchestrate this piece.
I am vey glad that we still have composers like in the old days. I was under the impression they were gone. Thanks, beautiful sonata. I would like to play it. Let me know if you can give me your consent. Apassonatac
I will start by saying that this piece is amazing. I find that the beginning was captivating and wonderful and had clear reference to Beethoven's style. However, I'd see myself looping some Beethoven for hours and days, along with any other musical artist that I really enjoy. I find that this piece lacks that certain spark that would make me want to listen to it for hours.
Hopefully with practice you may achieve this spark that sends shivers of emotion down other peoples' spines.
Personally I think this is AMAZING. Evolution is grand, but sometimes people have to go backwards to move forward, and I think many have forgotten this in their compositions.
"Fresh and modern" isn't what is always the best (in fact sometimes it's the WORST!).
Move on! That is a work that belongs to your youth of 23 years ago. It is NOT ORIGINAL. It is BEETHOVENWISE. The style, form & harmonic progressions are of the classical sonata style. You are convinced of its sincerity. GOOD. But now, what have you written? Show us so we know you have evolved from this style and progressed to something your own! Probably you listen to this work from a distance and see my point constructively. Don't get stuck with a singly work. Good luck!!
You say it's original, but you don't explain why it's original or where it's original. Could you please point out a few of these "many" examples so that I may grasp what you're trying to say? I've listened to your other works and find they have a little more to say, but as far as I can hear, this is just a reproduction of Beethoven and the classical style in general.
Btw, Mozart and Haydn are very distinct. With training, you can identify any composer of the classical period.
It starts out like Beethoven, but at bar 54, you get into an early Baroque sequence which I don't think Beethoven would do. The start of the development sounds like Brahms on steroids! You have mastered the sonata form and adopted a very "orchestral" way of writing for the piano. This may not be original in any way but I'm in awe at the skill you have to reproduce the classical style.
hi, thanks for the friend invite! i like this work, and although youve obviously matured since when this was written, its still a good piece, very similar to the 4th beethoven sonata in parts, but still maintaining an original sound
I like energetic content of this music very much. Last few measures of Exposition seems to be loosing bit of steam which feels awkward considering overall character of this piece. Also one of places where development and recap merge seems to be a bit awkward as well. Overall, incredibly beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing good music
There was a time when it became fashionable to write piano works in the style of various composers. For novelty sake, it served its purpose but never held up to the test of time. It can work very well for the movies though. Whether to "forget Beethoven and his bygone style", but right at the very start, that's what you hear! This movement is not a parody, it is Beethovenwise! Being written 28 years ago, if the composer continues to write, his originality should already show by now!
This is almost extracted from the Beethoven sonata no. 4 Op. 7 . It opens in the same key (Eb) with exactly same rhytmic propulsion of the LH tiplets. It is reminiscent of that bygone era. It is a good starting point that can propel this composer to finding his own style in the present time. It cuts him short from being original, Beethoven as an alter ego! No matter how good he writes in this style, it will always sound an imitation. Be your own voice!
Thanks for sharing.Magnific!

Study the sound between the notes in order to give the notes to do use more presence, it will help you better articulate the idea too.

Allelujah!!!! A contemporary composer that can compose MUSIC!!
My most sincere Congratulations!!
Keep up the good work!! We are fed up of listening to disgruntled sounds and cacophonies that people insist in calling classical music nowadays.
Nice playing too.
Who's playing by the way?

I can't view the PDF score for some reason. It just tells me the file is damaged and cannot be repaired. How can I get my hands on this music?

Just curious, though, did you play this piece yourself or was it computer generated? =)

Mozart's piano sonatas are more beautiful and my favorites for piano sonatas, but Beethoven's are more experimental and adventurous in my opinion.

Try "Tobias Picker" but I think Mr. Simpson does hit the mark much more closely in the stricter sense of that word.
