  • @28brinkley Oh how wonderful to own your own white horse. I find them so majestic. Mind you I love all horses and all animals. I cant even kill a fly. Tis a wonderful thing to have such happy childhood memories and I am so pleased to be part of yours.

    Jackie Lee.

  • hiya Jackie, hope you are well?....long hot summers, ice cream, late nights playing in the street, scabby knees and the best bit saturday morning t v a big thank you.

    Jackie Lee.

  • so sad to find out the young girl who played the lead, helga anders, died at just 38.such a pretty girl.

  • @junkman19571 Yes indeed, it is rather sad that she passed away so young. She had so much more to give.

    Jackie Lee.

  • I'm with you on that one welderjoe 100! Still love the old 'supermarionation', I loved this series as a child, such a haunting song, which instantly takes me back to simple, carefree, childhood days.Beautiful voice, rare these days..

  • aye, brings it all back 53 now ,still listen to this ,captain scarlett, thunderbirds ,stingray, joe 90, don,t make em like that any more, nice one

  • This song is so evocative of my childhood in the early 70s when this and Rupert were often repeated and the chance to hear your beautiful voice was never too far away.

  • I always get a shiver down my spine when I hear "White Horses" It brings back so many memories from when I was a child,,,

  • One of the most beautiful theme tunes ever.

  • Dear Jackie, I don’t mind admitting that it brought a tear to my eye to hear your theme tune again but it has been in my head for over 35 years and takes me to a time of such innocence and wonder and happiness. I just wanted to say thank you for bringing and sharing such joy.

    Barry

  • why do i always wanna cry when this is on...lol

  • @uponthecatwalk2012 Aw, thats so sweet, thanks for your message.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee

Starts both me and the wife off crying. Well she crys my eyes water because a bit got a bit of dust in them.

    Can't understand why as it's

  • @hardabit

    not sad at all

  • @hardabit Love your user name.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @hardabit Aw, thats so sweet. Thank you.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @uponthecatwalk2012

I supppose its because it harks to an ideal, a nirvana, a moment when summer's were longer, and childhood's carefree slip shod years where taken for granted, and slipped away so quickly, "as breath into the wind".

Perhaps with all the ugly things in this world there is a place where supple limbed white horses encapsulating both power and grace, slip with almost liquid ease over verdant fields, carefree in both grace and beauty, free again?

  • @uponthecatwalk2012 Because it is so enchanting, good tune with lovely melody

    a classic

  • This song always brings back memories of being young, thanks Jackie x

  • @Bellman467 Tis my pleasure. Thanks a lot for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Dear Jackie,

As with everyone else who's commented I can only say how wonderful it was to find this song on You Tube. "White Horses" is such an evocative memory of my childhood in the 60's.

    Kind regards

    Mark

  • @mpersad Thank you Mark for your delightful comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Beautiful song, beautifully sung.I certainly reminds me of my school holidays and thus only good memories.

  • @19sorley Thanks a bunch for those good mnemories you cant beat them, I am so glad to have been a part of yours.

    Jackie lee.

  • Still love this song- brings back all the days I spent hanging around the stables and leaning over field gates and wanting a pony sooo much it hurt! Thanks!

  • @attatel I more or less used to do the same thing, great memories aren't they. Thank you for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Without a doubt this is the finest theme tune. It brings back so many memories - if only the world had the innocence of then. Thank you.x

  • @Karpykev If only indeed, I agree with your sentiments.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Thanks a bunch for your very nice comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Have always loved this song. Thanks.

  • @fannycraddock99 Your name ring 's a huge bell, are you the same famous Fannie Craddock the wonderful cooking expert?, if so, tis I who is impressed. Thank you.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Hi Jackie. Fanny has been dead since '94. If she were still alive today she'd be 103!

  • @fannycraddock99 Oops, Oh my goodness, I didn't realize she would be that age, but now that you mention it I should have known better. However I do have a good excuse as I live in North America and I am extremely out of touch here. Sorryabout that.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Jackie, you gave me a huge laugh. BTW didn't you record under other names? I'm trying to track down all your recordings as you have such a pretty & restful voice

  • @fannycraddock99 Hi again, and yes I did record under another name much to my regert, and the name was Emma Reed, sometimes spelt Emma Rede. An agents folly.

    Jackie lee.

  • Don't think there's anyone in the UK who was a kid in the late Sixties that won't have a huge fondness for this tune - Whether they liked the TV programme or not, it was a fixture of pretty much everyone's childhood. Good to hear it again.

  • @ChockHolocaust Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment on this Video, I really appreciate a lot.

    Jackie Lee.

  • my mum now owns two beautiful cobs and loves them both very much!! she used to groom donkeys and anything she could get her hands on!! you started her dream! x

  • @mrsdaipunk I thank you for you very nice comment. So glad that your childhood memories were happy ones and that I was a part of them.

    Jackie Lee..

  • This was the the first record I ever bought (well..I pestered my parents for), I must have been about 6 at the time. I also remember Helga as being the first girl I really started to notice, as at that age I assumed that she also sang the 'super-feminine' theme ...sorry JackieLee. I also remember the tune exactly, and I'm so pleased to hear it again, and it still sounds wonderful. Thank you JackieLee for one of my earliest good memories.

  • @Halcyon43 I just adore your comment it is so sweet. I am sure at your age I would have thought that Helga was the singer of the Theme song. However, I am so glad I was the one who recorded the song to have given you such lovely memories of a time gone by.

    Jackie Lee.

  • YEEHAAA!! Found it! When the song came out I was 10, living an idyllic existence in Cyprus. This and Louis Armstrong constantly played in my head. Oh, and yellow submarine.

  • @LhodaKblerz Hi there, I can really understand the phrase idylic existence in Cyprus. I was there many time in the early 60's singing for the British troops, oop's thats giving my age away, lol. I did so enjoy every trip there and remember it dearly like yourself. Yes, come to think of it Luis Armstrong and I were in the top ten in England at that time. Thank you for bringing back some very happy memories to me, and of course thank you for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • What a stunning vocal.

  • @andrewlee3 Gee, thanks a bunch for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • I'm of a certain age group and have great memories of The White Horses, and even to this day i still know this theme tune word for word....Thanks For The Memory Jackie

  • @smartbomb05 I thank you for your delightful comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @smartbomb05 I too loved this programme as a girl, I especially love this tune - its brlliant and stirs lots of memories. Currently it makes me cry though as my Mum passed just over a year ago and whenever I hear it I think back to those school holidays - cannot explain it - Happy and Sad at same time

  • @Coppertoprich I am so sorry to hear about your dear Mother, I know the feeling and my heart goes out to you. At least we are left with those special memories that they have left us with.

    Keep your chin up,

    Jackie Lee.

  • Did you know that the beat of this song has the sound of a horse trotting in the background. I only discovered this recently when I had the headphones on. Gives the song a whole new perspective.

  • @FootlooseMusic Funny you should say that as I had another comment from a fan who said more or less the same thing. I never noticed it myself.

    Jackie Lee.

  • i think this could be a hit again,without a doubt.it has it all .

  • @echotechnology That would be nice if Universal would release a CD with the White Horses track on it. Stranger things have happened I'm sure..

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Hi Jackie. I love reading the comments people leave.Theyre always positive & that says it all for me...Oh I agree that it should be released again.Surefire hit. :)

  • @stevobath Thanks very much and I am so glad you agree.

    Jackie Lee.

  • I am 43 years old and this song forms part of my childhood - It is so memorable to me. Thank you Jackie.

  • @paulstu193 Thank you Paul, it is my pleasure.

    Jackie Lee.

  • This still gives me goosebumps. I was an 8-year old in love with the actress, Helga Anders, who played the lead part in the series.

Oh, I remember that Pinky and Perky did a version of the song on their 'Hit Parade' album. I might have a go at doing an electro version of the Pinky and Perky version. Jackies original is far too beautiful to spoil!

  • @williamsterben Hi William, thank you for your comment. Good luck with your electro version.

    Jackie Lee.

  • I feel like being 12 again.this has just taken me back to my childhood.sincere thanks.

  • @mastablasta231 Sincere thanks for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Like many others, I remember this series! Helga Anders was the first girl that I ever fell in love with and that was when I was too young to fancy anyone!!! Thanks to Jackie Lee,such a beautifull voice, I remember they great summers. God Bless x

  • @altair709 I think you and many many young fell in love with Helga she was very pretty indeed. Thanks a lot for the lovely things you wrote.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Still remember this, as do many others, from childhood summer holidays - the days before the end of the innocence. In 2001, when all grown up, I had the delight of actually seeing these magnificent horses at Lipice, Slovenia. My daughter was in her seventh heaven on meeting them.

  • @ivorlottandtonybroke What a wonderful sight to behold the magnificent Horses of Lipice, Slovenia. Your daughter will keep that memory forever. Thank you for you message.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Never saw this series but what a beautiful song and how it reminds me of my first horse (although not white). I loved her very much and when I felt down I'd go to her and ride through nature and feel good again. Thank you.

  • @Saartje05 Yes indeed, one never forgets their favorite horse or pony, I still remember mine.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Absolutely fantastic! Thank you for your voice!

  • @HardWarUK Thanks a lot for your lovely comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee On white horses, snowy white horses; let us ride away! :)

  • @HardWarUK I'm game if you are, lol.

    Jackie Leer.

  • would run all the way home from school to watch my favourite tv progamme the white horses,i was in love with helga "but which boy wasn't" I had the single on 45 and would play it all the time and fall asleep to the beautiful dreamy music and voice of you. I loved my childhood even thou it was hard times for me,but the music and the series was my own little dream world!! A Very Beautiful Post i thank you from the bottom of my heart for your part in it...X

  • @MRDOOWOP1 What a lovely comment, I just love to hear all the wonderful memories that written to me. I think most young boys at that time were in love with Helga. I must say she was a pretty young girl, it is such a great pity she passed away so young.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MRDOOWOP1 Hi to you again I just heard that your comment that I didn't get to reply to was deemed wrongly as spam and removed. It has now been put back and as you see I have written to you. Happy New Year.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Ah Jackie, thanks for posting this. My childhood summers just pop into my mind. My friends and I used to pretend to ride 'white horses' around the streets of our rundown council estate in England - pure escapism. here I am 40+ years later and I have my very own horse...he's not white but he is beautiful!

  • @bluebird7962 Aaaah, what a lovely comment, I am thrilled that you had your wishes come true, not many people do. I bet your wonderful horse is the light of your life, of course not forgetting the little wifie? lol.

    |||||||||Jasckie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee What a wonderful response and it did make me smile! However, I don't have a wifie but I do have a grumpy husband. White Horses was very much a 'girlie' show. You can see my 'dream horse' on Youtube - Go to Patrick The Clydesdale.

    XX and a HUG

  • @bluebird7962 Oops!, big mistake. I have one of those husbands too. It's funny you saying that The White Horses series was a girlie thing, I thought so myself until I started to get lots of comments from men more so than women and that has surprised me.

Say hi to Patrick for me,

    Jackie Lee.

  • makes me think of easy sunday afternoons. many beautiful memories.

  • @tomy8581 Thank you for your very nice comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • This theme tune really makes me shudder and tingle, but in a lovely way. Whenever I hear this, it takes me right back to being about 9 again, Home life was not easy but my escape was this programme. I adored horses, and still do. Many a time I was that girl on the white horse, taking me far, far, away.

  • @Ricie1964 I am so sad to think that your home life wasn't that good. However I am very glad to think that my Theme song brought you happier thoughts.

Thank you so much for you poignant comment.

    Jackie lee.

  • Ii never saw the TV show, but I've a had a recording of this song for years. Great song, lovely voice.

  • @oliva77 I am so pleased that you still like White Horses, thank you.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @oliva77 I loved the prog. I think it was 1968 or 1969, which made me either 8 or 9.

  • @Stemax1960 It was 1968, long time ago in years but not in memory, you young'un.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee You can't be THAT much older than me, so less of the young'un! Love ya to bits from Steve.

  • @Stemax1960 Ooh! another comment from my new toy boy Steve, lol

    Bests,

    Jackie Lee.

  • Yes, Nothern Soul dancing, shiney leather soled shoes, small bottle of talc in pocket, spread, and spin away! I loves Northern Soul dancing I do Jackie, always. : ) even though I am fifty next week, but I've still got the moves, only just....!

    watch?v=Y2NySUcbv3w

  • @yippitydodah I am sure you look a treat doing all the moves lets face it you are not old it is only a number and one is as young as they feel. Sometimes I fell like a 21 year old and other times I fell like a 100 and 1, lol.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Northern Soul dancing is a young persons thing - when I bounce down to the floor I can't bounce back up as I used to do. Must be my fat belly holding me down these days!

  • Wondrous,thanks for sharing

    Jackie Lee.

  • so evocative of a time when i was young

  • @katherine500 Oh! to have those times back again. Thank you for your message.

    Happy New Year.

    Jackie Lee.

  • My partner & I celebrated our civil cermony in November & both being children of the 1960's this was always a firm favourite. Delighted that the DJ was able to play it for us. A delightful tune, very evocative, and beautifully sung Ms Lee! We held our civil ceremony at Portmeirion, North Wales, where there is a cottage called "White Horses". So named as in high winds the waves break over the top of the cottage, looking like white horses jumping over the roof! Thank you for your channel.

  • @aptsarchive Congratulations to you and you partner. You learn something new every day and thank you for letting me know about what must be a delightful cottage in Wales which by the way I think is Gods country.

    Jackie Lee.

  • And a Merry Christmas to the girl from Marylebone!

  • @TruthRaider Thanks Laurie and the same to you.

    Jackie XX

  • @MsJackieLee Oh I still love this song so much. It evokes so many memories of my youth. I don't think I realised at the time what a wonderful era it was. Happy Christmas, Jackie.

  • @mackemlad888 Thanks you so much. I also wish you a Lovely fulfilling Christmas.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Can't tell you how much I love this song (this and Rupert). I posted a lengthy reply a few weeks ago but went over the limit! It was on your website about tv appearances, and I have a memory of you singing both songs on a variety tv programme when I was about 9 or 10 (therefore 1971/2). It was one of those golden moments in life when the whole family sang along, and I realised the power of music. Thank you, Jackie!

  • @Muninman62 What a lovely memory to send me of that time in your and of course my life. Have a wonderful Christmas.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Happy new year Jackie, I meant to say, all the very best.

  • @yippitydodah Thank you so much.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee No probs. Have a very good 2012, what with London Olympics and other things going on, should be a very interesting year. Love and Peace, and things, all the very best. Huw.

  • @MsJackieLee Been thinking to post this for a long while, you becoming a Northern Soul hero. I always have loved Northern Soul,

    watch?v=wP9ZbqDpQIQ

Modified Northern Soul video, Gloria Jones, Marc Bolans partner - brilliant also. Hope you like it, though might seem a bit 1980's political and neutron bomb...

    watch?v=NSehtaY6k1U

Hope you like, love from Huw, again.

  • @yippitydodah Thanks Huw, I most certaily will this, thanks for sending it.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee LoL I meant to say I will most certainly view this video.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee No probs. Hope you enjoy your northern Soul reminder. You are so brilliant - gush! : ))) love.

  • @MsJackieLee Northern Soul reminder of you here, since I have posted too many other clips,

    watch?v=wP9ZbqDpQIQ

    Great Irish Cheekbones may I say - when oirish oiyes are smoiling, they smoil just for me....;

  • @MsJackieLee Jackie, funny how life is. Happy 2012 again, as I said before, 2012! BLIMEY!! Ey?

  • @yippitydodah A Happy New Year to you too, Blimey, Eh!.

    Jackie Lee

  • @MsJackieLee That is all we will hear for most of this year in Britain is the Olympics in London, London mainly, but the yaughting off Southampton or something. Boris Johnson and David Cameron gushing on about it on telly and in the papers every other day. Ah well, we all have our crossess to bear. : )

All the best again Jackie. Love, Huw.

  • @yippitydodah I suppose they have to rattle on about something, time wise. They have to fill in those alloted minutes. Its the same over here they go on and on repeating the same old, same old.

    Cheers,

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee But hope by some fluke the London Olympics will be a good show from the rest of us to visitors to us at least, despite those. Hope the London Olympics will be played like songs like this Jackie,

    watch?v=PJbroh-CIxI

Do you fancy coming across and visiting? Heard JK Rowling was well into Rupert the Bear on telly when she was young, let alone Hartley the Hare with his mate Indigo Pipkin!

  • @yippitydodah No I had no idea that JK Rowlings was into Rupert as young girl, that's nice to know. I would love to visit the UK however I have had a setback with my health and cannot at this moment in time. I most certainly will the first chance I get as I miss it so.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Sorry to hear that my Jackie bach - life growing old ey? Will come to me too in growing older times. Time is a bit of a bastard, isn't it. Your a great girl Jackie, if I haven't said it yet, and yes, if you speak to Jo Rowling she will no doubt want to speak to you, easily. All the best Jackie.

  • @yippitydodah By the way Jackie, I post on a site blog of Alastair Campbell most days, in the name non de plume Ehtch. I lik Alastair, knows Brit politics and life inside out.

Just google this, since youtibby don't allow direct links to real life outside - "Alastair Campbell blog".

And hope your health crisis isn't too bad, but as I said, it will come to the rest of us as well, one way or the other. I am looking after my father at this present moment, after cancer, bag and all.

  • @MsJackieLee By the way Jackie, Northern Soul is still going very strong, and here is the proof, from new years eve just gone, people really enjoying themselves,

    watch?v=96yvBCJlL90

    All the best again.

  • @yippitydodah Jackie, a very very funny video, on when Dylan Thomas visited the great US on one of his visits before his artistic heartbreaking demise, and shows his truely great humour, Dylan on his US experiences, "over there". Enjoy Jackie, and laugh, for goodnesssakes I only ask, : )

    watch?v=lBEU3l9sGHA

  • @yippitydodah Thanks a lot I will be viewing this video as soon as I can.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Oh, no i'm only some loser in reality. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post, you,re a delight to the eye and ear.

  • someone said that nostalgia is the happiness won from feeling sad. The program itself was much my sisters' sort of thing but that music......nice guitar too, tremolo pedal, pizzicato plucking, yet it's that sweet folky voice that makes this a win.

  • @assaidsly Thanks a lot for your interesting comment it seems to me that you must be rather musical yourself.

    Cheers,

    Jackie Lee.

  • I discovered this song on a compilation record some years ago and it's been a favourite of mine ever since. I will be featuring it in my radio show in January - Classic Songs You Never Hear on Radio . Well down here in New Zealand anyway. Thanks Jackie.

  • @FootlooseMusic Hi There to you in New Zealand. Would you believe that I have relatives in New zealand most of whom I have never met and of course Australia. I would be thrilled to bits if you were to play my White Horses on your radio show.

I know that it is still often played on radio in the UK as I have done quite a few interviews from here Canada on the actual live show which was a gas. Its so nice to be so well remembered after all this time.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I've just experienced a trip back to 1969 when I was at junior school and all the girls were mad about the horses. I was attracted to the singing. Still am.

    Graham

  • @wetsuit2 Hi Graham, em! 1969, I remember it as if it were only yesterday, the good old days. Thanks very much for your comment.

    Jackie lee.

  • This song fills my heart with so many memories of my childhood. Just to listen to it sends me back in time to those magical childhood days. I remember when White horses first aired and I listened to you singing this song. It instantly stuck in my head and I have never forgotten it. Bianca was a special horse nd will be sadly missed R.I.P.BIANCA
