This same configuration has been around since September of 2008! It is an epic design, but needs a refit. The powerfulSU9400 or SU9600 are middling in performance compared to the top ultra-low voltage Arrandales. T400s-esque refit with a cool running 1.33 Ghz 660UM Arrandale would be a nice fit

Lenovo should make Thinkpad x301 easier to switch between bay battery and CD-Rom drive. Currently you lock the CD-Rom drive using a screw. Why not a button? pushing or sliding a button to lock / unlock the CD-Rom drive?

Lemme tell 'ya...this thinkpad is a total bitch to repair...3 times longer than other thinkpad models. Imho, don't even think of working on one of these -- parts are way too fragile, delicate, easily damaged, and very expensive. Tell Lenovo you want your bench-repaired in their warehouse. I'm NOT touching another.
