  • Thanks, @kimmitz...I joined the group just after watching your vids. I am looking forward to meeting and talking with other parents of senior kitties with VAS.

  • Thank you so much for posting these videos. We found out yesterday that our sweet 11 year old kitty has Fibrosarcoma. We are going to the oncologist Tuesday, but I know that amputation is a very real and likely possibility. The idea of it has been devastating to me. But this video gives me hope that maybe she'll be okay. I wonder though...being 11...do you think she'll adjust??

  • @kookalamaka It's amazing how fast they can adjust to something that is as a dramatic a change as amputation. Within days Kes was determined to figure it all out. I think she should adjust just fine, maybe a bit slower than Kes or other younger cats but she'll do it! Join the Yahoo Support Group mentioned in the description, you'll be every so happy you did! There you'll find out more about senior kitties and amputation. Good luck!

  • i wish my cats VAS was on his leg his is in his shoulder blades we had it removed the first time 2 years ago but it came back about a month ago, we thought we had beaten it because it was gone for 2 years but now it came back attached to the muscle and bone and it is inoperable for him we were just told the other day that if we decided to operaate again that it would be a grueling surgery and they would probable not get it all and it would return in weeks hes 18 and had a good long life

  • what kind of vaccines gave kes the sarcoma?

  • Thank you very much for posting this video. We learned yesterday that our cat may have fibrosarcoma and that amputation may be a good choice for her. Your video helped me to see how the amputation may work out. It is very encouraging.

  • The vet told me I had 2 amputate my kitten... he hurt his right rear leg and i dont know how im going to afford it. Can anyone help me?

  • @ammoniacal69 Sorry to hear that your cat requires amputation. Is it VAS related or an injury? See if you qualify for FVEAP or CareCredit. Search for them in a search engine, I seem to be unable to post the links.

  • Hi This is D from Vas support group. I am super surprised that Kes is using stairs in your video. We had our kitty Salem's back leg amputated and he is doing well now. I am sorry i didn't video tape his experience to share but, thank you for sharing your story with us!

  • This video made me so sad..but I am so happy that she is living and well. I just got a call today from the vet, that my kitty has VAS. It is a little bit lower than her shoulder blades, more on her back area. I am so devastated, and all I can do is cry, trying to find solutions to the problem....but unfortunately have found none..

  • @bubbleboots69 Please join the Yahoo Support group and share your situation with all the knowledgeable people there. The link is in the video description. A solution can be found! Don't give up! A scruff/back area diagnosis doesn't mean it's the end. There are things you can do to improve what seems like a bleak outlook right now. Good luck and keep me posted!

  • @bubbleboots69 Any news on your cat?

  • What a great video....although the music was very depressing! haha How is she doing today? What a beautiful girl!!!!

  • @Vixen4143 She is doing great! It's like she never had 4 legs. She has developed strong foreleg muscles and various strategies to get where she wants. I'm thinking about a 1 year post amputation video to add to the collection. Thank you for commenting and asking about her!

  • @kimmitz

Aww, I am so glad to hear that!!! I'd love to see an update from her :)

  • Hello! Merry christmass!

    Is Kes OK?

After 3 months and half my Goku is OK :)

  • Kes is doing great! I'm glad Goku is doing well. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you too!

  • Cats do have 3 legs and a spare, don't they? My own 18 year old cat had his front leg amputated from VAS. Its a year post surgery, no recurrance and still going strong. Best wishes. Nice video.

  • Wow! That's wonderful that your cat is doing well as a tripod, a senior and a VAS survivor. Three cheers for him! Thank you for the compliment on the video, I enjoyed making it and sharing our experience with VAS.

  • It's a beautiful video! I fell better when i talk with a VAS survivor cat owner.

    She seems to recovery fast.

For my Goku things seems to going well. two weeks ago i was scared because i touched something of moveable in her scurf, instead now is perfect to touch. nothing of dangerous.

her fibrosarcoma was 1 cm of diameter, for this i hope things will going well

  • I'm so glad that you discovered Goku's tumor and had it checked. What made you think it was VAS? We were exchanging comments on another one of my VAS videos when you first discovered it and I was curious if my video help you make a decision to have her checked? One reason I made the videos was to spread awareness about VAS and I'd love to know if it helped you.

  • I didn't knew VAS. I pet my Goku on her scurf, because she loves it, but it was a month that i didn't. She had habit to sleep on my bed, but it was an hot summer, and she prefered to sleep on ground, always in my bedroom. She returned on my bed, but when i touched her scurf, i noticed something of hard, like a stone. It was moveable.

The day after i searched a lot of info and i had knowledge about VAS. So i decided to no lose time.

  • (it is a bit long message)

Me and my mom brought my cat to vet, and she had surgery that day, after diagnosis (i have preferred immediate surgery, many cats are healed because of immediate surgery).

At least vet has sayd that her tumor was in first stage (i have seen it when i'm going to take my cat). it had two roots and one has invaded only fat tissue, other was in the muscles, but away from bones.

  • I love the way Kes uses the wall. Kitties are so intelligent. These are great videos both in terms of spreading the word and as a diary of Kes's journey. Well done.

It brought tears to my eyes to see your beautiful baby adjusting so well. Thanks for sharing. I so wish I had videos of Subie. At least I have a few of Sierra.

  • She is doing great and we didn't expect any less of her; she is one determined feline! With the availability of digital cameras for photos and video I am always recording something or another; be it important or mundane. I'm so happy to have been able to record our VAS amputation experience for others to look at as a resource.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
