  • Really impressive! For the record, there's a way of making her wake up from her bed properly. Very simple, actually.

  • @000MaLuCo000 Yeh it's something to do with using a camera move entity, I just never got round to getting it done, or getting round to finishing the map unfortuneately, if I had the time i'd get back to it.

  • @TechChris22 uuh, you're SUPPOSED to use hammer, IDK what other level editor you could possibly use... besides the in-game one.

  • @ZavCoyote No, you have all the parts but have to constuct them from scratch. I just used tutorials from the Valve Developer Community website to help me. You can get them pre-made, just search for Portal Prefabs in Google.

  • @Snoops6 ye it looks cool, but it is the most basic chamber in portal..

  • @Snailman4 It is almost exactly the same room, i did construct it from scratch and not just mod the original done by Valve. I wanted to give the impression that it was just another area of Aperture for a different test subject but keep everything fairly uniform as shown by the elevators for example. Also it was the first room that i constructed for the map, so logically i then had plenty of reference from the original game to work with and then simply just expand from there.

  • @boneheadproductions1 I did yes, although Hammer is the only program i used to make the map.

    I'm a starter with Portal Maps and I wanted to know the texture people use for the frames of glass and the texture for glass.

    I also want to know exactly how to make a Fizzler? The wiki doesn't expain what textures to use on the particle parts..

  • @JayedPSkier I Can't remember the texture names but they should be in your Portal textures library on Hammer.

    For the particle texture for the Fizzler you have to use an info_particle_system entity, you can choose from either portal_cleanser or Cleanser_edge_1.

  • I can't remember the actual name of the water texture used in Portal, but you will find it under the textures library in Hammer.

  • you used chore scene or env message to glados speak? env_message is easier :D for meeeh

  • I used logic_choreographed_scene entities for her really long lines of speech, e.g. her speech when the map starts or when you enter a test chamber, and ambient_generic entities for her very short lines of speech, e.g. when you take the radio or destroy a weighted storage cube.

    I only used the env_message entity when you find the secret (part 2 vid).

  • Nothing special lol, the test ends and you end up in a holding cell where u have to get out and then get to explore the other areas of the facility.

    I have done a small part of this branching line of the story, i may upload a short playthrough of it, but i really should get back to mapping, haven't done anything for months lol.

  • Use a prop_physics_override instead and it should work fine.

  • Under the ambient_generic's keyvalues set the SourceEntityName to the targetname of the radio prop.

  • Well yes and no, i started out with the idea of making a full game with roughly the same amount of play time as the original Portal, but i've had very little time to do any work on it the last few months so it's currently at a standstill.

    If you haven't heard of or already played Portal: Prelude however, then i suggest you take a look at that (only available for PC though), i thought as a run up to the original Portal game it was very good and also quite a challenge.

  • You have to use a prop_dynamic instead. For tutorials on how to create Portal entities & maps have a look on the Valve Developer Community web site.
