Wow, this is amazing! Rick Dees ... now on Hot 92.3, but this takes me back to when I was a little girl, KUTE 102 was going away and we were starting to listen to KIIS.
Are you sure this is in his first two weeks at KIIS? Cause I've done some reasearch and found out he started 7/11/1981. It was a late evening show on from 11pm-12am.
I like KIIS FM here. But even then those songs still fit Top 40 at the time, and I don't hear them going into the 1960's. After all Top 40 was adult leaning at the time, and it would be just a few months before MTV made its mark. Dees just came off a stint of KHJ. Getting hired at Memphis WHBQ after the Disco Duck fallout helped.

My gosh, I sooo remember this show ! Rick Dees was the funniest when Liz was with him. Before mexicans took over California. What a great time.
