@Fila007 It does a damn fine job, I think it would be very had to capture the gritty bleakness of Nihei's style that is so well suited to the monochromatic manga medium...maybe a rougher less colourful cgi look would be better, I dunno...I still need to read blame!, started reading online but so far have only read digimortal and (2/3 of) Biomega
The news I hear from time to time about this apparent movie is similar to the manga itself: Vast expanses of time and space, in the far distance of which on glimpses a hazy future.
Will a blame cgi movie ever come out? You will have to spend ten thousand years riding in an elevator to find out the answer!
@microdroid why? It'd most likely be shit in an anime series...glad that with decent sci fi manga there have been those in favour of cgi adaptations instead of just jumping on the anime bandwagon...
I pretty much agree that the CG looks a bit pap. Could be worse tho, could look like Blade 2's CG. I do feel they've done an alright job on the backgrounds and ambient audio though. Definitely seems like it's going to be a hard one to decide once they bring the full movie out. Who am I kidding though, I love this story so much a little bit of naff CG won't put me off buying 100 copies of the DVD.
Were I not already a fan of BLAME!, these Prologues would not have captivated me in the least. I do not feel that the style of the CGI captures the mood, integrity or aesthetics of Tsutomu Nihei's work. Production IG's backgrounds definitely compliment Nihei's atmosphere, however. None the less, I will still look forward to watching the final product whenever it does come out.
It certainly FEELs like an anime, but the character designs have sort of a knee-jerk repulsive nature. Not even uncanny valley, like Spirits Within, just...unpleasant.
So has the project been scrapped? No new on this for a very long time...

I know this appears to be Awesome... but it really DOESNT do the manga justice.
Yea, it's that good!

too bad this is only a manga, cause this would seriously be entertaining as hell to watch.

The characters of Blame should look creepy, but this doesn't quite do it right. Well, Sanakan looked decent.

The consensus appears to be that no matter how shitty they make it, we will watch it because we all like BLAME! so much. Me too.
