What does it cost to make a complete platform in the video including LEDs/controller?
Just bough studio monitors, a laptop. Now missing Akai APC40 (Ableton MIDI controller for starting parts of music + tunring off audio effects) and some decent light stuff.
Ok, I know absolutely nothing about programing, but I'd like to learn to program an arduino as it seems like it would be a cool platform to learn on since you can apply it to some things and it's not just all on a computer screen.
Could anyone recommend a good starter kit or board to buy? Does it come with software? What code would I need to learn?
@Grundalizer the arduino uses a language very similar to C++. It's not really hard too learn, and it's much easier than ASM.
To start out, the Arduino Duemilanove is a good choice. It has a USB port, female headers for sheilds, and the controller. It's the most used of the arduinos at the moment.
Very nice, they possibilities for this board are awesome such a cheap price and so many cool projects. I am currently making a robot with an IR camera and motion sensors to watch over my house when I am gone. But controlling LED color with equations like this I find difficult VERY NICE JOB with the project.
arduino is so easy to work with and it's a opensource IDE so, all the good things with PIC microcontrollers compillers like CCS C or MIKROC,etc, is in arduino but the license for those compillers are so expensive, and as I said arduino is free and also have the advantage of being already made in a board with a nice AVR microcontroller and all the stuff like power supply and crystal already in it,also it can be programmed and voltage supplied by usb and there are lot's of shields for it,it's nice
My only complaint, and maybe its not even well justified, is you can't dedicate the arduino to make multiple projects. With a pic, you can easily buy 5 chips, and dedicate each one on a specific circuit, then throw the circuit in the closet and not have to worry about disconnecting it. Unless somehow you can program individual chips like pics or avrs, I don't see how an arduino can really compete.
well, I did not understand what you said but I will try to talk what I understood: well, arduino is not something to work with, you not gonna know how to use it and be in a industry or something building projects with an arduino board... arduino is great for fast projetcs like in universities, or to learn about the basis of microcontrollers or to use if you are a hobby guy..there are some people that have so many arduino boards but it's not the kind of thing to build something and leave it there
also,as the board have built in basic things for the microcontroller to work, like crystal, voltage regulator, usb chip, etc,it make the arduino to be very nice to use when you have no time or no pacience or just no knowledge to make your own basic eletronic for the microcontroller to work..the microcontrollers used in arduino boards are so powerfull and have so many nice things..I have an arduino mega board and it has so many pwm and analog and digital and serial, everything,it's nice for having fun
fantastic work, is there any howto existing to realise the arduino circuit? Is the Software available? Im working on arduino hexapods but find your project very interesting.
I assume thats using PWM to make it flash...the LED thats brightest when cycling is chosen by a mutliplexer. Out of curiosity, whey didn't they use RGB led's? Either way, this would be a really cool party item, you should see if you can get Make or someone to sell them.
