As a Republican Union member I think you're view is myopic (short sighted). This is a state where a large portion of Union members are registered Republican or Independent. Most members of our local view the union as a guild or trade organization. I prefer right to work laws to "card check" because right to work is a double edged sword. Employers can't force us to join the union and Arizona employers can't deny employment based on union membership (as it is political discrimination).

It is well known that ''closed shops'' breed contempt and laziness. But unions do tend to exhibit higher levels of standardization and represent the best in the trade.
