  • Thanks for posting this song...no one sings "Fool on the Hill" better than Petula Clark. She pushes each note a little further.

  • N'en déplaise aux fans des Beatles, Petula fait les choses à sa manière et

    elle les fait bien.

  • The Beatles are much better; she should have stayed in the kitchen.

  • @Purin15

yeah, the beatles did much better, but john lennon would't have been very pleased, if he would have heard the second part -.-

  • @Vampirebride96

    fair enough.

  • una mas comiendo de los beatles, muchos grupos "rocanroleros" de México solo vivian de sus covers, si esta tipa hubiera escrito esta canción hubiera sido un single en su carrera, pero para los beatles es una canción más de su fantástico catálogo de canciones

  • LOVELY PET THANKS XXXXXX

  • I think no one can sing this song as mccartney, I'm actually a little dissapointed.

  • Seems some people don't like Fools much to their regret.

  • Beautiful voice, beautiful lady.

  • eu gosto (i like)

  • what a great Dress !

  • I think the melody becomes to much for her. She looks at the autocue with a gesture: WTF.

  • she has a good voice, but this is terrible XD

  • worst performance ,didnt know the words, thought the spec effects would be the clincher, it wasnt, and had a rasin on her chin

  • The change in tempo where she fades to talk-singing and the exaggerated reverb/echo does not do much for me. It adds little (if anything) to the Beatles' original. I like Petula Clark a lot, but this is not a very good cover. Check out Sharon Tandy's cover or Sergio Mendez. They do better jobs with this great song.

  • her facial expressions show that she thinks its about sex or something. its not, but good cover, great, even. nice dress :)

  • My favorire singer of all time...but dont like her cover of this song.

  • Pet's a honey...this ain't all that though !!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, ms.Petula Clark

  • ewwww....... i don't like it -____-

  • Besides the Beatles, Petula, Helen Reddy, and The Brasil 66 amongst others have covered this great tune. Petula and Helen made the best covers!

  • Great lyrics by Paul McCartney <3

  • Just Pet is a great Pye album; I prefer it to Petula '71, though i do like that one as well.

  • The "Just Pet" album and the pink album are my two favorite LPs she ever released! I looooved "If I only had time" and "Hey Jude" - that album is fantastic!!!

  • She is John Lennon's favorite female singer! That is interesting. I think it's fascinating that she is singing one of the Beatles songs, and a brilliant one at that. She did it well! Unlike the American Idol people, Pet does not seem like she is disrespecting the composing skills of the Beatles. So she can change the melody in certain spots and get by with it! Go Pet, you are one of the best!

  • I'm sorry but I find this a bit over the top and the spinning rowrowrowrowrowrowround bit is truly awful.

  • Hard song to sing.... but then she's a genius.

  • She is so good that she is beyond anyone knowing what to do with her.

    Kinda like Karen Carpenter

So she ends up with this fantastic voice and hardly anyone knows what to do with it.

Because she is so far beyond anyone.

And yet she ends up figuring it out by herself anyway.

But never getting the total recognition she is due.

But then again I think maybe she does.

  • The same month that this aired on The Ed Sullivan Show, Nov. 1969, in England the BBC chose Pet's Royal Albert Hall concert from a month earlier to introduce colour service to their tv network. It aired on Nov.15, 1969-Petula's birthday! Sadly, like many fantastic tv specials of the day, the tapes are either lost or long ago erased.

  • Beautiful

  • I love Petula but i like more the version of Sergio Mendes

  • Loved this song and still waiting for a beatles related album from her. She did record a good number of their songs.

  • The 1960's produced so many great singers and performances

  • A lovely lady singing my favourite Beatles song. Thank you!

  • I remember getting this album "Just Pet" on Christmas Day 1969 - 39 years ago! She also sang another Lennon/McCartney tune, "Hey, Jude" on the album. This Ed Sullivan television peerformance was probably her best ever on U.S. television.

  • @tipsyheadrinse

My favorite ones of Pet are the ones she did with Dino on his show.

    They are fantastic together.

  • Esta Petula,sí........!!!!!!!!

  • Riveting! Possibly Pet's best on screen performance ever!

  • Possiably her best perfromance on TV. I remember seeing this on Ed Sullian. I remember thinking she was crying when she turned her back to the camera. She's the best comtempory singer ever!

  • @denny1252 I saw this clip on "Ed Sullivan's Rock and Roll Classics." I taped this 10 years ago.

  • What an unusual choice of material...well, nobody can accuse Pet of playing it safe and just doing all her Hatch/Trent hits even when

perfoming on venues like The Ed Sullivan Show,on which this originally aired, in late 1969. Thanks so much for this posting!
