Holy Crap!.....I was on the Radio @ Mackenzie when this happened. My memory this convoy was supposed to take a left turn while going through a certian part of our area of operation...but i cant remember the name for the life of me....instead they took a right down a dead end peninsula that was surrounded by the river on three sides....one way in one way out..thats why there was alot of resistance there....cant remember much more... i have problems with remembering details about my deployments
@Duluiyah oh yeah! how could i forget that. I'll tell you theres alot that i just dont want to remember about
then. The Iraqi police at the checkpoints were all 2 faced. I mean it. I'd like to think that now there is more organization within their ranks, you are exactly right though, they would pretend that they were protecting their towns, but they were acting as lookouts for the insurgents. Whenever there was a situation that we needed handled....we would sick the Georgian Army on them.
My Dad was a Driver for years. Our roads did his back in. I could not imagine how Drivers over there can put in a full career.
Sorry for your loss. He seems like a stand up guy and was let down in a moment of need. I sure hope the guy who said "who cares" in the convoy vid has remorse.
I am so sorry for your loss. I feel that this war is for the best for the people of Iraq. your brother is a hero to my family and to myself. thank you for the srevice your brother did to help my country.
