  • Another great reason for this Canuck to love Colorado!

  • qual é a bitola dessa ferrovia???

  • Here's a fun video that inspired, excited, and will prepare anyone for a special Colorado travel treat. Watching the whole 4 minutes not just takes you on a ride through Colorado's beautiful back country but back in time to the wild west. I have commented on my blog to..check it on my web site at Colorado Highway Byways dot com

  • Ahutza birra r&r gora guk ta gutarrak!!!

  • Am surprised some environmentalist hasn't been raising Holy Hell about all the black smoke.

  • I wish #476 will return to service and ride the rails again!

  • Rode this last summer...prettiest stretch of mountain valley I've ever seen.

  • Very, very nice!!! Thank you. Thumbs up.

  • Whatever happened to 476? I heard its out of service.

  • @dajara521 cracked frame long ago, she also needs new wheels and tires, a boiler retube, and smoke box repairs. But I want her back in steam too.

  • The most spectacular train ride ever. I will never forget it.

  • Great job, I think the music goes well with it and the small amount of sounds from the actual train itself is perfect. This is a Epic line and a ride of a lifetime. For anyone who has never been on it, do so. And I agree with the open car, the views are spectacular and the people are amazing. But if your eyes are sensative bring some sort of eye wash you will get soot in your eyes at times.

  • Nice job on the editing, and wonderful music- I never would have thought of Enya but its a nice solid choice.

    Excellent Video

  • The music wasn't necessary

I will say, definitely the most fun you'll have on a steam-driven train in one day!

  • The music isn't necessary on 99.0% of youtube but you can always mute it.

    The train is great!

  • Just rode it last week really cool

  • Very well captured look at a wonderful railroad. Enya's "Storms in Africa" really completes it!!

  • it's alos hard to imagine that in 1968 that they were still having regular freight movement on this line as well as Chama line

  • I rode this train back when it was still a bid job for the Denver and Rio Grande. (1971 and 73)

  • For anyone considering this trip be sure to ride in a open car. In the closed cars passengers(for the most part) tend to stay to themselves. In the open cars folks tend to be more social and tends to add to the experience. And the views far better. Be sure to have bottles of water handy to clean cinders from eyes. it always happens! Still worth it!!

  • I wish #476 will be back in service soon!

  • 476 is still working, right?

  • nope

  • ive ridden it

  • I've ridden this train twice... once in the summer , and once just after the new fallen snow in March... If you have the choice - see it with snow...

  • I don't like the dubbed music

  • men either

  • been on it alot you got to try it sit in the cars because if you sit outside you eat ash worth the experience thanks for a great vid

  • Wonderful movie, wonderful landscape, wonderful music, dream train, unfortunatly so far from France...

  • that would be great in HD

  • You haven't lived until you actually ride this train. I've been twice and want to go again. Fantastic!!

  • Personally, I think the sound track helps make this video so special.

  • I rode this train august 2008.What a great ride ..

    Wish I was there now...

  • great stuff it takes us back to the Rockies big time..

  • I remember riding the Durango-Silverton train on a family vacation back in 1969. Great fun.

  • Loved it. Thanks very much for sharing.

  • Great video...Can't wait to ride it someday....

  • Very interesting video.Good Job on the footage.

  • Great shots. Been there twice. You capture a good feel for the railroad.

  • I love your Durango and Silverton shots. Are you lucky enough to live there?

  • No don't live this was done in one day there.

  • @4durt

If the secenery looks anything close to this video, I'm going next year! what the best time of year? Thanks for posting

  • One of my first memories was riding this train on my father's lap--must have been '68 or '69. Thanks for bringing back the memory and the emotion.

  • nah.. its too pretty to ride a bus back.. i enjoyed the train ride there and back.. i saw lots of animals that i never see in arkansas. it was really pretty.

  • I love the 476, she is my personal favorite.

  • Awesome, awesome, and awesome! Love the videography and editing - very creative and original. And the soundtrack really adds a nice touch. Well done, sir! 5 stars from me.

  • Thanks, I appreciate the glowing review! See link in info for higher res version.

  • Pretty good use of the old Amiga Video Toaster. Nice video.

  • What is the name of the song called playing in the video? Good video overall.

  • That would be Storms in Africa Pt 2 by Enya

  • The ride up is awesome. the ride back sucks. Take the bus.

  • no way man, lol. If I go there to ride the train, I ride the train. I can ride a bus anywhere.

  • i would never that the buss back. The train is y i have been to Durango 5 times

  • I would have liked to hear the locomotive sounds instead of the "sound track". This is my favorite railroad. You should make some more videos of the other locomotives and put them all into one big video. Otherwise, I liked this one, although to hear the locomotive sounds would have been better.

  • Personally, I think the sound track helps make this video so special.

  • From an Aussie who will be there soon, thankyou for this clip, some very beautiful country and this will now be my first steam engine stop!

  • Over how many days would you say did you film this?

  • The ride was all in one day. A few shots might have been the day before from along the tracks. The editing took longer!

  • I'm planning on making a full DVD on this railroad and will have about 3 days to do it, hopefully that will be enough to get about a half-hour's worth of material? You think it can be done?

  • from an aussie train driver who also is interested in them, your video is mad...pity the technology we have now wasnt available when you filmed it, durango and silverton is on my 'to do' list for if ever i visit the USA

  • Great video! Specailly liked the pacing shots. Lot of work in editing! I have some videos of the trip too, but are much simpler, taken with a digital camera while I was also using it to shoot stills.

  • If you need a great vacation, love the outdoors, and scenery. This is the place for you, it's just beautiful. Silverton Colorado. My family goes almost every year.

  • A very nicely done piece. Good editing, with a wide scope of content, appropriate music for a real decent effect-one that steam lovers and critics could agree upon.
