  • RON PAUL 2012 !

please join the revolution to restore the world

    peace.

  • @harphnon1 ....I'm sorry, but in this instance, it's all about the Supreme's revolution.

  • Who really cares Miss Kurt?, The song hit NUMBER 1, Something The Supremes NEVER ACHIEVED again, after Diana's Departure.

In addition Psycho Kurt, Diana is about to do something else "The Supremes NEVER did, Pick up a GRAMMY, To Bad So Sad, Enjoy the Legacy of Ooh's & Ahh's Dip Shit

  • they're like the OG Destiny's Child haha but a million times better obviously..

  • ugly sister in v middle. get a bag over its ead someone please.

  • Did Flo record on this song, or was it C. Birdsong?

  • @PrelaE It was Flo on this song, not sure about Miss Mary, I think she had Tom Jones's Scrotum in her Mouth at the Time

  • @TheReturnOfBigBear Yeah, and Diane was getting ready to record "Ain't No Mountain Enough in a few years!" The acapella version sounds like it was recorded in Diane and Berry's bedroom............it's hilarious! Mary and Tom Jone had nothing on Diane and Berry.

  • @PrelaE It was Miss Birdsong who background vocals with MAry Wilson on this record

Flo had been told to leave the Supremes by this time

  • Diana Ross is Gorgeous , the Most Beautiful woman ever ! I fall in Love with her every time I watch her videos . She also has a Beautiful voice along with those adorable eyes . Thanks for posting

  • I love motown.

  • LOL!!!!!!!, "Brown Sugar for Everyone", Miss Mary's Motto!

  • This is my favorite supremese song...there'sanothersong from the seventies ,that reminds me of this muber ( sound wise) UP in A Puff of smoke(pOlly Brown)

  • This was the theme to my fav show China Beach I still miss it

  • Lay Off Miss Mary, Nellie David!, Miss mary sounds Far More like a Fog Horn than a "bullfrog"

  • the bullfrog croakes yet again painfull to listen to. she should be v backing singer . awfull

  • classy you dont have to be so provocaative for one to notice you showing too much is a sign of low self esteem

  • @tawheedization I told Mary Wilson that Exact Same thing back in the 60`s, And she Still Won`t Wear Panties!

  • Porn can be Interesting!, Have you seen, She's No Lady" with Tom Jones & Mary Wilson?

  • @TheReturnOfBigBear Tom Jones dumped Mary when she was caught doing his band while Tom was with his pregnant wife. She never learned that all those dudes she fucked to get ahead didn't want her stretched out kooch for the long haul and only took it cuz they could get the milk for free (and with those udders, they didn't mind falling in down below.) The only thing Mary likes more than free champagne is dick and even that's not so free anymore (rumour has it her drummer has to do her when asked)

  • @TheMotownManiac Why are you always spreading such negativity? Lighten up and listen to Diane's acapella version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." That will give you a good laugh and put you in a much lighter mood! Treat yourself....it's hilarious!

  • Cindy Birdsong! My My My....

  • Sing that song, soul sister. Sing it!!

  • My all time favorite song,

  • the three graces

  • Cindy Birdsong look fatter here than Flo Ballard ever was while in The Supremes.

  • @ramona2400 --- YOU ARE FAT!!! CB looks like a natural woman. Diana was VERY thin, but very glamorous, sorry you are fat.

  • U know greatness when U get chills from start to finish then hit replay!

  • @generationaluv --Right on!!!

  • Destiny's Child is nothing , but The Supremes in repeat !

    The Supremes = Destiny's Child

    Diana Ross = Beyonce Knowles

    Mary Wilson = Kelly Rowland

    Cindy Birdsong = Michelle Williams

    Florence Ballard = LaTavia Roberson

  • @Motownman100 - Oh please... Get a life

  • @Motownman100

    Latavia? More like LeToya Luckette...

  • Miss Mary is Grinding Her Thighs together with such Intensity!, Could she be about to Blow her Cookies?

  • intro...tamla on acid.

  • I miss Diana... Where are you? I want you back. We need you just about now.

    Love you, Best from Zola.

  • What the hell was that effect called in the beginning?

  • Mary is oh so sexy, goodlooking here!

  • China Beach is on!

  • The Summer of Love - For me, Reflecetions is the Hippie Theme Song. It always reminds me of San Francisco in 1967, cus this song dominated the radio waves.

  • CHINA BEACH!!!!!!

  • This song is really cool!! I was just thinking my mom was like 11 when this song came out, that's nuts lol

  • @TheAnimallover81 my grandma was 8 my mom wasn't born till 11 years later

  • @bigbear39ca

You are correct. That's exactly how "The Supremes" name came to be. Janie Bradford thought of it and added to a list she was keeping of potential names. As an employee of Motown, the name belonged to the label from the start.

It is true that Florence chose the name from the list as the contracts were being prepared on a day where she was doing background vocals for the Marvelettes in the studio.

  • You can tell from watching all the performances how much Diane Ross studies Brian Wilson this song even has a Good Vibrations vib

  • If you need anything Lis, you know where I'll be! Love ya, sister!

  • Diana Ross even stated Florence Ballards gave the group it's name.

  • Florence Ballards created the Supremes.

  • DIANA and Cindy are great!

  • There will never be girl groups like this again. I love the vintage peformances, these women look so glamorous, classy and sultry. The girl singers now look like strippers and porn stars.

  • @70sRob word

  • @70sRob As do their audience, 15 year old girls look like hookers, but hey this is the modern sociaty we live in. "Reflections of the way life used to be"

  • @70sRob I was thinking exactley the same thing, even their facial expressions are unpresuming, girl groups now are so pompous and unlikable.

  • @70sRob This comment's a little stuffy. Porn is fantastic, isn't it? Why shouldn't music be sexually charged? Sex is a beautiful thing.

  • @falstocat porn is evil and there fantastic about crminality against ones soul and body and escpecially others...

  • @70sRob Hey there is a group very similar to The Supremes(in the wearing actual clothes department) Wilson Phillips

  • I Loved them so much - I miss these wonderful days.

  • the QUEEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • diana didnt desiggn the dresses the had been made by movie studio seemstress and a top stylst of the time

  • I ment did not want...

  • I wish someone would post the flolow up to the performance when the ladies get to sing with the host I think they do as I have seen photos.

  • IT SOUNDS like one of the prerecorded "LIVE" stage recordings that the ladies frerquently used during their live shows. I guess today they are called backing tracks but lyp sync is also used

  • One of the best songs from the 60's. Even as a teenage metalhead I was amazed that the lyrics on the chorus were different every time! Brilliant songwriting and a great performance!

  • berry gordy was a friggin genius. so many guns on one label. damn

  • IS IT ME .. BUT DOES IN EVERY PERFORMANCE DIANA PUTS HER ARMS IN THE FACES OF MARY AND CINDY .. EVEN IN FLO'S FACE.. ITS LIKE SAYING FUCK THEM

  • @sierria64 .....It's you , and Flo is not even here....Her replacement Cindy is singing !

  • @sierria64 That was the way in which the increadiably insecure (and by nature's determination ) unattractive Miss Ross --could just make her competiion just go poof and disappear. No preety face Mary no killer figure like Cindy's. Just all about me.

  • @etrax2000 Ever hear of the phrase the show must go on? Flo was in a place in which she could not perform professionally. The nature of the music business (yes it is a business) is responsible for what happened, as sad as it is. Perhaps, instead of attacking a person's physical features, you can see Diana Ross is an American icon, who with the Supremes broke the color barrier, and has persevered and survived through hard word, talent and dedication.

  • @sierria64 in almost a hundred TV appearances, it happened 1 and a half times.

  • @supremester2 i see this and everytime i veiw the girls after they hit so large.. diana alawys seems to end the song with her hands and arms spread in the faces of the girls..to me it shows .. fuck you ... im the star .. at the close of the song .. i want everone to see me... sorry diana you show no class here .. i noticed this several times on vedios of teh supremes.. this was ment to be suttle. and it was ent to blackout the other faces in the goup..so it was just her

  • Comment removed

  • @sierria64 It happened one and one-half times out of 100's of songs and is ludicrous to suggest that after being on camera for the entire segment that the last two seconds of a song would keep the public from seeing their faces. If that were the case, she'd just put them behind a screen. There's a lot to be thinking about when getting ready for the final pose on a song for national television, blocking faces would be hard to do as there are several cameras and angles so there's no way to plan it

  • @TheMotownManiac The name was made up by FLORENCE BALLERDS. The Supremes would never had been without her. So you are responding to me and do not know much about the business. Because if you are in the business then my friend you have alot to learn so that you do not get conned.

  • @AfricanReality The lady's name was Florence BALLARD, and she DIDN'T "make the name up"...she chose it from a list of names that was given to her at Motown. One of the conditions of Motown signing the group (The Primettes) was that they change their name and out of the list, Flo chose "The Supremes" !

  • @OnlineAdministrator1 Diana Ross out of her own mouth said that Florence Ballard made up that name.

  • @AfricanReality Diana Ross never said that: Flo did NOT make the name up! Look it up on ANY Motown or Supremes website (take a look on Wiki!) and you'll see that Flo was given a list of names and out of that list she chose "The Supremes". She CHOSE it...she didn't "make it up"

  • @OnlineAdministrator1 I actually do not have any issues with Diana Ross I only worship God! I am just saying Florence Ballards did alot for the Supremes including giving the Supremes it's name.

  • @TheMotownManiac I agree with you! I've read all that crap too about Diana raising her hands to block the other girls' faces out, and it really IS bollox! For starters, at the end of this video, the camera moves away and upwards. If the camera had stayed "on the ground" instead of moving upwards, then you'd still be able see mary's face. If it was Diana's intention to block faces, wouldn't she be blocking BOTH of them and not just one?

It's all crap, yet again, to make Diana look bad!

  • now i know where my grandmother got those steps... hahaha!! it's so cute!! haha... xD

  • One of their best performances! The ladies are PRICELESS!

  • Russia

  • But best in mind the crime rate is committed by US Citizens and there should be no recording of ethnicity rather low income or otherwise so problems of education can be highlighted The biggest crime to affect the world ? The financial meltdown the Madoffs of this planet.

We realise race is a big issue and that it runs deep in the US especially since the civil war but ultimately we will all have to get on and America is full of the most friendly people on earth I think and guess where else is r

  • Cindy Birdsong is so beautiful in this performance.

  • @3BuckHead Yes, Cindy was in some ways better than Florence...

  • @shmuli9 How is she better than Flo when Flo and Mary created the supremes. Flo named the group. They could have gotten rid of her because they did what to pay extra to their costum designer. I sew clothes so I know.

  • @beyondgreat Ah... you're a seamstress? Interesting, and yes, Florence DID name the group...

  • @shmuli9 I can sew and design but do not sew for people only family. I LOVE fashion design. That is how I got interested in the Supremes watching Diana Ross' movie "Mahogany".

  • @beyondgreat Oh, yes, Diana Ross DID design most of the clothes Tracy wore... Where did you get the idea that a "seamstress" only sewed for her family?

  • @beyondgreat Milton Jenkins created the Supremes, Flo was just the first person he asked to join, Had there never been a Florence, the story would have been essentially the same

  • @supremester2 Stop disrespecting the originator of the Supremes "Florence Ballards" if it was not for her there would had been no Supremes. She gave the name and it was Florences idea to have Mary and Diana Ross in the group.

  • @AfricanReality Motown created the name Supremes. They gave Flo a list of names to pick from and she chose Supremes. Mary & Diana weren't there at the time Motown needed the name. It's not like they wanted only Flo to name the group - she just happened to be at Hitsville when the paperwork was being done.

Paul Williams brought Diana into the group - not Flo or Mary. Flo was great, but let's not get carried away with it. The group was formed to sing with The Primes not by Flo or for Flo at all.

  • @AfricanReality Flo didn't even know Diana until that day. They went to different high schools and diana only vaguely knew Mary. It's not a diss to Flo (unless something else was said that I didn't see.) Flo was great but she didn't start the group and didn't think up the name. She chose it which is why Motown owns it instead of Mary who tried to claim it. Flo was the most popular background singer of all time and that's why Mary was so jealous of her and conspired to kick her out of the group.

  • Any reference to race is disgusting you should be ashamed of yourselves - my advice to America is forget the race issue and grow up - in England it's a non issue.

  • @jnmklo9 well yeah you are right but also in England 90% of crimes are not committed by 20% of the population. It is a little bit more complicated here

  • When black women dance...something comes out of me.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree. Here is something else for your racism library. When people look at black porn they don't really look at the black women instead they pay closer attention to the black male.Black porn is the only porn where people focus on the male's performance instead of the women's performance. You see I can have useless thoughts just like you.

  • @sofyan3644 TO ME CLASS IS THE DANCE FOR THEM .. NO NEED TO SHAKE THIER ASSES

  • I guess this shows my true age of 46 years old, the fact I was only 3 going on 4 years old when this was a hit back in 1967 -- but also that I remember the end of the other show, but everytime I hear this tune, all I can think of is the last scene on "China Beach".

  • The set up for this performance is so great - you get the glitz and glamour of the Supremes but it's suited to the psychedelic tone of the song. If that makes any sense at all.

  • The set up for this performance is so great - you get the glitz and glamour of the Supremes but it's suited to the psychedelic tone of the song.

  • Cindy looks eerily like Florence here.

  • This is their No.1 song.

  • I love them but I found this performance curiously uninvolving.

  • I think Diana Ross is singing live here...over a prerecorded track of the girls voices.... I adore this group....pure glamour and style....

  • @MinkEyeLashes - OH PLEASE U WOULDN'T KNOW A LIVE PERFORMANCE IF IT SLAPPED U ON YOUR MINK EYELASHES. Sorry Britney and J low this is how live performances sound.

  • Motown songs sure knew how to work the hell out of a tambourine..lol.. that drving back beat and tamborine in the intro are genius

  • holy cow! that is funny, she's true glam

  • HOLY COW!

  • This song makes me cry so bad. Makes me think of memories in my life....

  • essscuuse me while i whip this out

  • Towards the end of the 60's, they started to look like drag queens. Especially this video.

  • @jaime5429 Jaime, coming from a professional drag queen I think it's safe to say drags queen look like the supremes. Ross is one of the blueprints that we use to create our glamour!

  • @jaime5429 You are so right and beferoe they broke up they came to there sences and toned down the make up,I noticed that,I think it was a way for Diana to capture all the attention because she knew that she was going to make a name for her self even at this time and she also knew she was going solo!

  • im only 17 but I find this amazingg love it wish there was more of this in today music

  • They always sound good, even after I have not heard them for so long of a time. I miss those days too much.

  • lol diana's lashes are so thick i can hardly see the whites of her eyes.

    still gorgeous tho :)

  • @jumpyourbone Each of the girls wore between 5-7 pairs of false eyelashes, heavy eyeliner, strategic padding, and coiffed wigs to create the illusion of the legendary SUPREMES............................weren't they FABULOUS?????????????

  • @kurtsupreme

    indeed :)

  • @kurtsupreme and what you tryna say, they still look better than ya mama

  • One of my favorites by The Supremes

  • All in vain!

  • I cant stand Berry Gordy with his genius ass!

  • @44joints berry gordy isn a genius like you think.he didnt want to release the album whats goin on by marvin gaye.he thought it wouldnt sell.how wrong was he on that.

  • @jayfey77 .... Who said a genius is perfect? Even though he didn't want to release it he did anyway. Hell Quincy wasn't initially excited about working with Michael Jackson but what he did with Thriller and Off The Wall was genius!! I'm not talking about one artist with Gordy I'm talking about a whole fucking roster that he created with Motown and that is pure genius. I'll end the conversation here because the stats speak for themselves!

  • @44joints thriller isnt motown.michael only made one album with motown his first.and he only released whats going on because of marvin's persistance.

  • @jayfey77 .....Did you read what I said? I mentioned Quincy in reference to genius and Michael. I was talking about the work that he did with Michael on Thriller and off the Off The Wall. I was giving you an example of how a genius is not perfect because Quincy didn't want to initially work with Michael. Everyone knows that Thriller is not Motown nor is Off The Wall so what in the fuck are you talking about? My point is that a genius is not perfect but it doesnt disqualify him as one! Done.....

  • Love! Fierce, Classic and the girls are workin it out.

  • motown was sooo classy ... look at those costumes!!

  • this song has much meaning to me even though i've just turned 18

  • @te5041 I am so jealous I always though I was the youngest fan of the supremes I guess good music is classic. That's good you understand good music.

  • IT'S TERRIBLE HOW THE EARLY PERFORMERS WERE TREATED BY THE RECORD COMPANY'S, I'M GLAD THINGS ARE BETTER FOR THESE ARTISTS.

  • Just to think, African-Americans were still drinking out of separate water fountains around this time, and these three Black girls were more elegant and glamorous than any other women in America at the time.

  • @FaReaList I agree, your'e so right. They really showed that African-American people can achieve success and they brought their music to the white population who enjoyed it, so it opened up the boundaries between the 2 cultures, black and white.

  • I See Reflections Of Pure Female Talent Backed By Gifted Men.

  • I can't decide on which televised performance I like better, this one from the Tennesee Williams Show, ooops Tennessee Ford? or the one from Sammy Davis' special at the Hollywood Palace. They're both good.

  • I heard somewhere a while backs (years, actually) that while Florence was still an official member of the group, that there was a mock-up of the Reflections LP cover with her on it (same design as what was released, but including photos of Flo and the group). 'zat true?

  • @KnowWhatIThink Yes it is true...check out some of the older sleves that were with the albums from Motown and on the back of the album jackets other Motown artist albums were advertised. This showed up on both places. I actually have some of the albums with the mock-up on it.

  • Best track the Supremes ever recorded... especially the studio version, everything just clicks.

  • The Supremes stand for Sultry, Style, Sophistication, and Sexiness! Mary Wells is doing it in the background, go head girl!

  • .......Excuse me, I meant to say Mary Wilson.

  • @AithWONDER Aaah! NOPE! This is MARY WILSON...Mary WELLS was a soloist (also with Motown) her biggest hit was 'My Guy"

  • @AithWONDER Mary WILSON! :)

  • @AithWONDER

    That's Mary Wilson.

    Not Wells

    :)

  • @AithWONDER Mary Wilson.

  • @AithWONDER Mary Wilson, Mary Wells is a totally different person

  • Fabulous lyrics!

  • mango

  • Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

  • Great vocal performance, awesome stage presensce. But I'm going to keep the one with the neat slide guitar.

  • just doin' a rufus & "stoppin' on by" to send love to miss ross & to hold her in a positive light on here. no one ever knows all that is inside any woman's heart especially when the woman is a global celebrity. still i believe michael's death has been extremely hard for ross to bear. i honor the lady for moving forward & praise her for the amazing journey she's taken me & millions of fans on these years through music, performance & soul. ebe yiye, miss ross! (it'll get better!)

  • I too hope she is happy and ,of course her legacy as a solo artist is certainly secure, She is ,quite frankly, the best of her generation of performers.

  • kuntsupreme, as sad, psychotic and desperate for attention as you are in your 60s, you have a fat nerve criticizing anyone least of all ross for "getting tired." your only stake at a legacy is made up of your witless comments on this site and your braggadocio about your escapades as a lower-level diana ross and the supremes groupie 40 years ago that mean even less now than they did back then.

  • Comment removed

  • diana ross has now reached the traditional age of retirement. as far as i'm concerned she has left nothing undone and has nothing to prove to anyone. her legacy within and far beyond the supremes in every aspect of entertainment is secure. unlike some others here i only hope that she is well and wish her well.

  • Branchwater Go out on your thin "branch,"(Diane as a solo act) fall off it and drown in your own "water" you goon!!!!!!

  • kuntsupreme, you're really going down the toilet fast on this site. you're here day and night, so clearly you've nowhere else to go, and your little male hustler "friends" don't show up until it's time for your monthly check.

i'd suggest you grow up but it's too late for you. you're probably wearing depends by now. what an ugly and sad way to spend the sunset of your life, anonymously bitching in the shadow of someone who has made a difference.

  • kurtsupreme, missbirdsong

I personally have no wish to see a Supremes tour, although I would like the idea of Cindy making a bit of money, she llooks as if she might need some.

Setting aside the Rtl I want to get off my chest something which as troubled me since last weekend.

The shows in Holland ,as i have said before, were a great success for Diana but I am going to follow up on what I said about wishing she had bought a new set of gowns.

I have been thinking about her failure to buy

    TBC

  • new costumes for what might have been her last ever show of that size, and on reflection i can only feel it was a missed opportunity to give her fans a completely fabulous experience.

She has been wearing those gowns at every show I have seen since 2004 and every year they get less flattering due to her increasing size.

Thankfully the red horror stayed at home but the once sensational red flamenco number was dug up and there are only so many times you can look at that yellow ballgown

    TBC

  • when she does her tours there are no frills it's just her on stage with the band and a bit of fancy lighting, the visual stimulus has always been her outfit changes.

Those outfit changes are a big part of the show but when all the entail is bringing out the same gowns something is lost.

Regretfully this was the let down in Holland.

She was terrific, don't get me wrong, but I really never want to see a green batwing plain dress ,which is too small for her ,ever again.

    TBC
