  • crap sound out of a crappy series of marshall. opamp overdrive in a tube amp is the worst sin!

  • hows it sound at low volume?

  • Question:

What is better for imite the AFD album sound of slash?:

Vintage Modern Combo or JCM2000 TSL

    Pls reply it

  • @utPr3d4ToR

Ceriatone AFD #35 amp would be my choice. I like Niks' amps :)

  • @mpct400

Ok, but the AFD is very expensive and very big

  • Sounds good and over 100,000 hits in a 5 year span. Keep up the good work!

  • @MultiScoffer Thanks man!

  • Wow, what a sweet growl. Can the VM do that at very low apartment complex levels?

  • take that wah filtering out and it will sound good.its very harsh on the ears.

  • Different amps, I've had the 410 and 205 and the 2266 (twice), moving in different directions now. Ill be putting the 2nd VM up for sale soon

  • So the Vint Modern is superior to the JVM 210H ? I think i fucked up buying the JVM. Looks muddy and lacks trebs and definition. May sell this JVM. Please, suggestions. Thanks

  • Nice playing, but no feel! Suggestion:) More bass, and less top end...reduce

the gain for more soulful detail !

  • @jmibelltone Hi, Ya , but this was 3 1/2 years ago, things have changed :)

  • ouch. the treble is killing me. are you running it through V30s?

  • @41224jason Hi , Ya pootr quality camera mic probably didn't have this amp set optimal either. Speakers were the greenback "c" that match this head. I have a recent vid with v30 and miced better.

  • @mpct400 hmm, interesting. it's probably the camera mic then, it sounded like the speakers at first. i don't think marshalls mesh with V30s all that well but to each his own

  • @mpct400 It's always going to sound atrocious with those Ceramic pickups though.

  • wish youtube would completely disable any and all comments on any and all videos...

  • Which cabinet is it?

  • What pickups you using? Seymores?

  • @verbw002 Gibson 500t

  • is tht a 2266 or a 2466

  • you've washed your socks :D Nice Playin'

  • I've got the same Wah-Wah ;)

    It's really from Hell!

  • Anyone else wanna make an ignorant statement regarding my statement--I was replying to a comment..not knocking the video. Youtube...ugh

  • @ItsChrispyTv No, fuck you for thinking that just because someone has a ton of self congratulatory gear means he's awesome. You'll laugh your ass off if I told you I actually dig Slash. I just don't like when people go out of their way to sound like someone else. Get your own shit is my thing, theres too much awesome gear/techonology to sit there trying to wear the same fucking t shirt someone else has already worn to shreds.

  • this is how a vm sounds,check my vids...tone from oz ;)

  • really good sound !!

  • thank god for penatonic scale based solos!

  • please, can i have tabs for 0:59-1:01

  • @fretman40

Yeh u will the valves in this amp were designed to give the fattest tone possible, so working them more is gonna bring out more of their tone.

  • what cabinet are you using

  • Just a suggestion, but I find I get a fatter sound from my VM if I turn down the pre amp settings and turn up the master volume and drive those KT66's harder.

  • is the vintage modern a tube amp? thanks

  • The first solo sounds a little bit like Tony Iommi \m/ really great sound and kind of guitar playing

  • dont know what the hell us rock n roll players would do without our low slung les pauls, marshall, wahs, powerchords and pentantonics. LOL

    LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL

  • Nice socks!

  • just noise!

  • I really want to trade my JCM 800 RI for this model. U can basically get the JCM 800 sound w/ this and many other sounds and tones.

  • @theShowStopper321 , you'll never get a VM to sound as good as a JCM 800. Maybe the reissue is inferior, haven't played too many of them to be honest, but if the RI is half of the real thing, keep it.

  • @shred5 Thanks man. The RI does have great tone, crunch, and balls, but at normal levels it doesn't have quite the saturation as this amp. I dont like using Distortion/Overdrive pedals, but maybe I'll try a clean boost

  • @theShowStopper321 , JCM 800s can be pretty mean. You can switch out your preamp tubes yourselfand possibly get a little more gain fairly cheaply. Many unbranded Chinese tubes usually have the most gain, but a lot of them are really poor sounding too. I can recommend RFTs if you can find them, or Electro Harmonix 12AX7s which have good tone and some bite to them.

You can try a TS9, or if that's not enough try a TS9 modded by Robert Keeley. I use a Keeley Java Boost with my older Major.

  • @theShowStopper321 that wont cure the problem..a clean boost will just boost your volume into further saturation. Meaning if you want more gain and at a bedroom level...an od or distortion is the only way to go other than an attenuator.

  • no tone man.......

  • Have you ever imagined demoing an amp without wah ?

  • I have a whole bunch of vids on u toob. Quite a few of them I forgot to use a wah on :)

  • @jp6l6 ....... Do you have ANY idea.. how much better a Tube amp sounds with a Wah left on ??? especially when you play a Les Paul . :)

    LOVE the tone man ...

  • @StockOfWood1969 I'm a Les Paul player and have a collection of tube amps. I like to play with a wah and like the Marshall Vintage Modern. I also like to hear it without any effect.

  • wah's can be so annoying

  • crank the bass and body a lil'bit

  • I agree. Or even take the casters off to give is the thicker grounded sound.

  • Ya this sounds pretty crappy, but it's just a cheap camera so the sound is too. I've been micing on my more recent vids using sm57 and gtr3

  • You can tell it's got the good tone though. One thing I do is stand more off to the side with the camera. It cuts down on the highs. But your playing is very worthy of that Marshall. Keep up the good work!

  • crillard !!

  • i hate my vitnage modern on low volume, it wont even sound like a marshall on low volume. gotta turn up to atleast 4 to get that boom.

  • @terminalninja

i get exactly the same thing with my jcm 800

it sounds absolutely horrible awfull at anything below 4 but crank it to 6 and above and its heaven

just proves the power tubes are such a big part of the marshall tone.

  • @terminalninja every true Marshall works that way :)

  • do you like the cry baby from hell?

  • Slash used an JCM800 for the first GnR rescords a bit later Marshall relesed the Jubelee Series of Amps. in the Video Paradise City you can see 3 Marshall Jubelee 100 Watt Stacks. And then Marshall built the JCM Slash based on the Jubelee 100 watt Tops. His signature amp is just gold and black not chrome and silver as the Jubelee. nice playing btw

  • in the paradise city video the 3 heads are marshall jcm 800 2210, the dual channel versions of the jcm 800's. They are not the jubliee's :) just thought i'd tell you. Slash used a 1959t plexi marshall on the first record (apitite) :) later on he used jcm 800's and jcm 900's, then finally he used the jubilee in the guns n roses use ur illusion tours. HIs new signature amp comming out soon called the AFD100 is base on the plexi marshall he used on the first record apitie :) cheers.

  • @yoyoe123 but they are silver and look exactley like the jubelees. i just dont know an other marshall who is silver just the jubelee series combos heads etc. i know he used an modded marshall on apetite i read his book :). but i trust you thanks for the informations

  • ok cool :)

  • I dont think he used jcm 900s, they're total garbage I think he knows better then that :P

  • @yoyoe123

the plexi he used on appetite had its tremelo removed and replaced with an extra gain stage to give it the hotrodded sound on appetite

also, i dont think he ever used 900s, cos they are awefull and he wouldnt lol

  • i can se your a slash fan eh?

  • i think this guy is a clone of slash his equipment is same and his playing is insane!

  • @GuitarTipsNTricks Slash is using an Dimebag Wah Pedal? thats new to me :). your right about the Guitar and the Amp.

  • That amp sounds superb!

  • ive got that amp! and i LOVE IT!

  • why would you want anyone to mod that amp when already rocks to the hilt? Crazy!

  • wow dude..you rock! i think i just fell in love with that sound!!!

    what cab are you using?

  • I really like vintage modern tones but it's nearly always played with Les Paul's. I'd Like hear it with a strat.

  • What amp do you preferr...the JVM, or the VM

  • sOUNDS REALLY EXCELLENT

  • did the recording lose all the bass?

  • what do you seem to like more the RV50 or the VM?

  • VM = upper mids and treble, tight bottom

RV50 = lower mids and bass, looser bottom, more gain

Both good amps though, just depends what your taste is.

  • Can i get something like Slash with that amp? I have a Les Paul 59 with Alnico Pro II pickups. What amp do you guys recommend me? Thanx

  • julibee jcm 800 (the one that slahs uses)

this one is really good too for his signature sound but u'll have to chase around to get his sound.

  • slash doesn't use a jcm 800...

  • yes he does... a jubilee version...

  • the jubilee is a different amp, and he has a signature one. i think he uses a mix of his 2555sl (the sig) a vintage modern and i think sometimes a 2203 jcm800

  • he used jcm 800 befotr he got the jubilee and then he became a signature series the jubilee 2555sl an now he play i 4 or 6 jubilees (2 silvers and 1 specific for his talkbox i thought) an 2 vintage modern amps thats his live amps ...

  • yah im pretty sure i read somewhere that he does still use an old jcm800 tho, but its not a main one, he has about 2 or 3 jubilees and vm's each, and like 1 jcm

  • he didnt use jcm800 if your talkin bout appetite he used a rented marshall 1959 from S.I.R

  • no i dont talk bout appetite dude ;)

i know that he has rented a plexi but the bad thing was that he never got the tone back which he had from the plexi right ? :D because it was modded specially ....

  • he also used Izzy's shit as Iz had his sound together,Slash admits this and Mike Clink sez they used a Carvin on those sessions as well.

  • cool

  • @lilnetty2

Yeah, the S.I.R #39 was acquired when slash discovered that his lead tone wasn't cutting it i think.

  • what do u mean by "S.I.R"

  • S.I.R. is a famous recording studio on Sunset Blvd in LA.

  • what do u mean by "S.I.R."?

  • a jubilee isn't a jcm 800. It is its own amp.

  • the vintgage modrn is good because when it is un boosted u really get slash tone all around

  • Well, i think you can get hes tone out with a Vintage Modern... All the time when i see a rockstar posing on front of a vintage modern, its Slash always! so i guess Slash and VM series of amps are something in common :D

  • Slash uses a vintage modern nowadays. He probably still has that silver jubilee too

  • slash used a jcm 800 through appetite and UYI 1 and 2 he just started using vintage modern and the slash sig together so if you like his tone back then get a jcm 800.

  • my suggestion, dont go copying slash, go out, and search for your own tone. The marshall jcm/slash clone tone thing is done to DEATH.

  • Another option is to check out some companies that mod marshalls, like david bray, Also Splawn amps kick ass!

  • @RNRDOLL ahh, good ol slash is just gettin warmed up. new album, tour, amp, guitar, picks etc. This guy is a serious capitalist. I'm sellin my slash wah in protest :)

    i

  • @RNRDOLL this didn't sound anything like slash (not a bad thing) The pentatonic scale existed before slash y'know ;)

And lots of guys played low-slung guitars before him too ;)

  • @RickyboyH I was replying to someone's comment, not the video

  • i figured ,but what model is what i was looking for, thanks

  • hey man what cab are you using (speakers inside)

  • hey man great sound, what are the speakers,

  • celestions

  • Nice! One of the best demo's of the VM I've heard. Also, I dig your playing style. Keep up the great work!!

  • What pickups on this Les Paul ?

  • At 2:07,

    what did you playing??

  • slash `s on the back !

  • what amp could be best for shoegaze and grunge type of sound..thanks hope anyone can help me..peace

  • a dual rectumfier

  • Nathan?

  • is this the 2266C Vintage Modern which paul gilbert uses?

  • yep, and he's been using the randy rhodes model too. At least he was when I saw/met him at a marshall clinic last year.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice playing. That wah pedal is annoying though.

  • How long have you played?

  • Thank you! ;)

Is it possible for you to make Guitar Pro 5 Tabs? Or just normal tabs?

  • Normal, I don't have guitar pro XD

  • Jesus Christ you have fast fingers.

  • can someone learn me the riff from 00:00 to 00:12 ? make video or tabs or something? thx

  • I'll try to tab it out for ya

  • firdaus where do u buy ur amp?

  • I just bought this amp. It's my first tube(valve) amp and I'm excited. Just need to wait for the 1936 cabinet i want to come in stock.

  • There are no bad marshalls in my opinion. I have a dsl50 and it sounds amazing. People say you cant get a good gnr sound out of it but you can. I think it is the best marshall for the price.

  • What is this amp like at playing AC/DC?

  • What pickups are you using??

  • what is it with all these people changing their pickups it doesn't make a real huge difference maybe when you played for like 1959235 years on the same guitar and you want that LITTLE extra thingy, but it is especially the wood of the guitar that makes the sound (i know those fuckers with batteries in them will make a big difference but i'd rather just buy a good guitar xD)

  • Ya these pickups (ceramic) are too high output for what I like, so I sold this guitar and bought a slash goldtop with seymour duncan alnico 2's. Perfect.

  • ...No.

  • lotta people play vintage modern in stores and they sound junk

  • titok49... mate...

that's 'cause the people playing them in stores are shithouse g-tarists.

the VintageModern is a different amp to anything Marshall have made... very organic and need really need the players' attention... the tone and volume knobs on the g-tar have never meant so much until now.

    ps. i like your videos

    regards

    sexyberger

  • sexyberger....you really like my videos?...wow wAAyyy cooll!!!!thanks!

  • thats probably cause they'd get shit from the workers for cranking it trying to get a decent tone

  • can this amp get a good GNR sound?

  • dude i bet you 02934029348 dollars it can! shit i want one :(

  • Ya it does, I played it at guitar center, and i got a perfect sound for the gnr classics (Sweet child o mine, november rain etc..)

  • did you play the 100watt or 50 watt?

  • 100

  • 1:31 what guitar is that?? it looks like and old mcnaught..

  • Schecter? Just guessing.

  • yeah...looks a LOT like a Schecter, doesnt it? omg

  • gibson duh.

  • no duh... the one on the stand lol

  • solid amp.

i just recently bought the 2266c. its got enough gain and a smooth, crisp clean

  • krootman12 yes, in marshall vintage sounds 1 he uses it.

  • The VM sounds thin when I play it in the store.Does it fatten up when you turn it up like the JCM series does?

  • The only problems with marshalls is that the clean channel sucks on ALL marshalls

  • have you played on the DSL's clean channel? they sound fantastic. believe it or not, marshall AVT's have great clean channels as well.

  • But why would you buy a marshall for clean sounds. Its like buying a ferrari to just drive your kids to school......find somthing more suited!

  • Great guitar, incredible amp. But tell me,why people do this? Post marshall sounds recorded with a small cam, ahh... ridiculous..

    sorry

  • Nice playing, sounds very much like a silver jubilee

  • nice licks.

  • i got to get me that amp :) ...now I have an Marshall 8200 head ... noad a bad head ...but this one kills !!!

  • crank this amp to like 7 and you will get like the best tone ever

  • love that sound. what kinda les paul is that (please respond)

  • the inlay is aged/yellowed MOP, so it must be a Classic

  • my inlay is yellowed MOP as well, but i have a studio :P

  • dude wat distortion/overdrive u using?

  • the pedals they show are just a wah wah, and a chromatic tuner, the vintage modern (amp he's playin)has a built in pre amp activated by hitting a button on the front of the amp which gives u the distortion, go check it out at guitar center or sam ash,

  • does it have a foot pedal?

  • Nice playing!!!! Too much treble though.....

  • yeah it is pretty trebly. maybe its just the mic on the camera

  • Wish it was a bit smoother, but could be the camera. I'd love to it through a reverb unit :).

    But it sounds pretty good.

  • This is so fakkin nice!!!! love this amp!!

  • dude u shred

  • hey can u tell me the price of the amp please?

  • The 50 watt version is like $1499 new, and the 100 watt is $1649. I just saw a 50 watt on ebay for $899 buy it now, but I don't have the money now to go for it. That is a steal.

  • Damn thats expensive

  • Yeah, but this head is the kind of amplifier that makes you a rock star. You deliver the playing ability and a decent guitar; it will deliver all the rest. It was even said in some magazine that this is supposed to be an amp artists in the near future are going to emerge with.

  • ha!...in argentina this amp is like 3000 dolls....so prices in USA are greeeeet for us....but indeed too expensive....

  • What's the red head the table?

  • dsl 100

  • r u using the original pickups from the Lespaul classic ?
